Job 40:1Moreover Jehovah answered Job, and said, ...Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said,And the Lord answering Job out of the whirlwind, said :
Job 40:2Shall he that cavilleth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it. Will he who is protesting give teaching to the Ruler of all? Let him who has arguments to put forward against God give an answer.Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.Gird up thy loins like a man : I will ask thee, and do thou tell me.
Job 40:3Then Job answered Jehovah, and said, And Job said in answer to the Lord,Then Job answered the LORD, and said,Wilt thou make void my judgment : and condemn me, that thou mayst be justified?
Job 40:4Behold, I am of small account; What shall I answer thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth. Truly, I am of no value; what answer may I give to you? I will put my hand on my mouth.Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth. And hast thou an arm like God, and canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
Job 40:5Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; Yea, twice, but I will proceed no further. I have said once, and even twice, what was in my mind, but I will not do so again.Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.Clothe thyself with beauty, and set thyself up on high and be glorious, and put on goodly garments.
Job 40:6Then Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said, Then the Lord made answer to Job out of the storm-wind, and said,Then answered the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,Scatter the proud in thy indignation, and behold every arrogant man, and humble him.
Job 40:7Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me. Get your strength together like a man of war: I will put questions to you, and you will give me the answers.Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.Look on all that are proud, and confound them, and crush the wicked in their place.
Job 40:8Wilt thou even annul my judgment? Wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be justified? Will you even make my right of no value? will you say that I am wrong in order to make clear that you are right?Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous? Hide them in the dust together, and plunge their faces into the pit.
Job 40:9Or hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like him? Have you an arm like God? have you a voice of thunder like his?Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him? Then I will confess that thy right hand is able to save thee.
Job 40:10Deck thyself now with excellency and dignity; And array thyself with honor and majesty. Put on the ornaments of your pride; be clothed with glory and power:Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty. Behold behemoth whom I made with thee, he eateth grass like an ox.
Job 40:11Pour forth the overflowings of thine anger; And look upon every one that is proud, and abase him. Let your wrath be overflowing; let your eyes see all the sons of pride, and make them low.Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him. His strength is in his loins, and his force in the navel of his belly.
Job 40:12Look on every one that is proud, [and] bring him low; And tread down the wicked where they stand. Send destruction on all who are lifted up, pulling down the sinners from their places.Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place. He setteth up his tail like a cedar, the sinews of his testicles are wrapped together.
Job 40:13Hide them in the dust together; Bind their faces in the hidden [place]. Let them be covered together in the dust; let their faces be dark in the secret place of the underworld.Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret. His bones are like pipes of brass, his gristle like plates of iron.
Job 40:14Then will I also confess of thee That thine own right hand can save thee. Then I will give praise to you, saying that your right hand is able to give you salvation. Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.He is the beginning of the ways of God, who made him, he will apply his sword.
Job 40:15Behold now, behemoth, which I made as well as thee; He eateth grass as an ox. See now the Great Beast, whom I made, even as I made you; he takes grass for food, like the ox.Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.To him the mountains bring forth grass : there all the beasts of the field shall play.
Job 40:16Lo now, his strength is in his loins, And his force is in the muscles of his belly. His strength is in his body, and his force in the muscles of his stomach.Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly. He sleepeth under the shadow, in the covert of the reed, and in moist places.
Job 40:17He moveth his tail like a cedar: The sinews of his thighs are knit together. His tail is curving like a cedar; the muscles of his legs are joined together. He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together. The shades cover his shadow, the willows of the brook shall compass him about.
Job 40:18His bones are [as] tubes of brass; His limbs are like bars of iron. His bones are pipes of brass, his legs are like rods of iron. His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.Behold, he will drink up a river, and not wonder : and he trusteth that the Jordan may run into his mouth.
Job 40:19He is the chief of the ways of God: He [only] that made him giveth him his sword. He is the chief of the ways of God, made by him for his pleasure. He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach unto him.In his eyes as with a hook he shall take him, and bore through his nostrils with stakes.
Job 40:20Surely the mountains bring him forth food, Where all the beasts of the field do play. He takes the produce of the mountains, where all the beasts of the field are at play.Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.Canst thou draw out the leviathan with a hook, or canst thou tie his tongue with a cord?
Job 40:21He lieth under the lotus-trees, In the covert of the reed, and the fen. He takes his rest under the trees of the river, and in the pool, under the shade of the water-plants.He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.Canst thou put a ring in his nose, or bore through his jaw with a buckle?
Job 40:22The lotus-trees cover him with their shade; The willows of the brook compass him about. He is covered by the branches of the trees; the grasses of the stream are round him.The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. Will he make many supplications to thee, or speak soft words to thee?
Job 40:23Behold, if a river overflow, he trembleth not; He is confident, though a Jordan swell even to his mouth. Truly, if the river is overflowing, it gives him no cause for fear; he has no sense of danger, even if Jordan is rushing against his mouth.Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth. Will he make a covenant with thee, and wilt thou take him to be a servant for ever?
Job 40:24Shall any take him when he is on the watch, Or pierce through his nose with a snare? Will anyone take him when he is on the watch, or put metal teeth through his nose?He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.Shalt thou play with him as with a bird, or tie him up for thy handmaids?
