Job 34:1Moreover Elihu answered and said, And Elihu made answer and said,Furthermore Elihu answered and said,And Eliu continued his discourse, and said :
Job 34:2Hear my words, ye wise men; And give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge. Give ear, you wise, to my words; and you who have knowledge, give attention to me;Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear to me, ye that have knowledge.Hear ye, wise men, my words, and ye learned, hearken to me :
Job 34:3For the ear trieth words, As the palate tasteth food. For words are tested by the ear, as food is tasted by the mouth. For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth food. For the ear trieth words, and the mouth discerneth meats by the taste.
Job 34:4Let us choose for us that which is right: Let us know among ourselves what is good. Let us make the decision for ourselves as to what is right; let us have the knowledge among ourselves of what is good.Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.Let us choose to us judgment, and let us see among ourselves what is the best.
Job 34:5For Job hath said, I am righteous, And God hath taken away my right: For Job has said, I am upright, and it is God who has taken away my right; For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment. For Job hath said : I am just, and God hath overthrown my judgment.
Job 34:6Notwithstanding my right I am [accounted] a liar; My wound is incurable, [though I am] without transgression. Though I am right, still I am in pain; my wound may not be made well, though I have done no wrong.Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression. For in judging me there is a lie : my arrow is violent without any sin.
Job 34:7What man is like Job, Who drinketh up scoffing like water, What man is like Job, a man who freely makes sport of God,What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water? What man is there like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?
Job 34:8Who goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, And walketh with wicked men? And goes in the company of evil-doers, walking in the way of sinners?Who goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.Who goeth in company with them that work iniquity, and walketh with wicked men?
Job 34:9For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing That he should delight himself with God. For he has said, It is no profit to a man to take delight in God.For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.For he hath said : Man shall not please God, although he run with him.
Job 34:10Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: Far be it from God, that he should do wickedness, And from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. Now then, you wise, take note; you men of knowledge, give ear to me. Let it be far from God to do evil, and from the Ruler of all to do wrong. Therefore hearken to me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity. Therefore, ye men of understanding, hear me : far from god be wickedness, and iniquity from the Almighty.
Job 34:11For the work of a man will he render unto him, And cause every man to find according to his ways. For he gives to every man the reward of his work, and sees that he gets the fruit of his ways. For the work of a man he shall render to him, and cause every man to find according to his ways. For he will render to a man his work, and according to the ways of every one he will reward them.
Job 34:12Yea, of a surety, God will not do wickedly, Neither will the Almighty pervert justice. Truly, God does not do evil, and the Ruler of all is not a false judge.Yes, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment. For in very deed God will not condemn without cause, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
Job 34:13Who gave him a charge over the earth? Or who hath disposed the whole world? Who put the earth into his care, or made him responsible for the world?Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world? What other hath he appointed over the earth? or whom hath he set over the world which he made?
Job 34:14If he set his heart upon himself, [If] he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath; If he made his spirit come back to him, taking his breath into himself again,If he should set his heart upon man, if he should gather to himself his spirit and his breath; If he turn his heart to him, he shall draw his spirit and breath unto himself.
Job 34:15All flesh shall perish together, And man shall turn again unto dust. All flesh would come to an end together, and man would go back to the dust. All flesh would perish together, and man would turn again to dust. All flesh shall perish together, and man shall return into ashes.
Job 34:16If now [thou hast] understanding, hear this: Hearken to the voice of my words. If you are wise, take note of this; give ear to the voice of my words. If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words. If then thou hast understanding, hear what is said, and hearken to the voice of my words.
Job 34:17Shall even one that hateth justice govern? And wilt thou condemn him that is righteous [and] mighty?- How may a hater of right be a ruler? and will you say that the upright Ruler of all is evil?Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just? Can he be healed that loveth not judgment? and how dost thou so far condemn him that is just?
Job 34:18[Him] that saith to a king, [Thou art] vile, [Or] to nobles, [Ye are] wicked; He who says to a king, You are an evil-doer; and to rulers, You are sinners; Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?Who saith to the king : Thou art an apostate : who calleth rulers ungodly?
Job 34:19That respecteth not the persons of princes, Nor regardeth the rich more than the poor; For they all are the work of his hands. Who has no respect for rulers, and who gives no more attention to those who have wealth than to the poor, for they are all the work of his hands. How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.Who accepteth not the persons of princes : nor hath regarded the tyrant, when he contended against the poor man : for all are the work of his hands.
Job 34:20In a moment they die, even at midnight; The people are shaken and pass away, And the mighty are taken away without hand. Suddenly they come to an end, even in the middle of the night: the blow comes on the men of wealth, and they are gone, and the strong are taken away without the hand of man.In a moment they shall die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand. They shall suddenly die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and they shall pass, and take away the violent without hand.
Job 34:21For his eyes are upon the ways of a man, And he seeth all his goings. For his eyes are on the ways of a man, and he sees all his steps. For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings. For his eyes are upon the ways of men, and he considereth all their steps.
Job 34:22There is no darkness, nor thick gloom, Where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. There is no dark place, and no thick cloud, in which the workers of evil may take cover. There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves. There is no darkness, and there is no shadow of death, where they may be hid who work iniquity.
Job 34:23For he needeth not further to consider a man, That he should go before God in judgment. For he does not give man a fixed time to come before him to be judged. For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.For it is no longer in the power of man to enter into judgment with God.
Job 34:24He breaketh in pieces mighty men [in ways] past finding out, And setteth others in their stead. He sends the strong to destruction without searching out their cause, and puts others in their place. He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. He shall break in pieces many and innumerable, and shall make others to stand in their stead.
Job 34:25Therefore he taketh knowledge of their works; And he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed. For he has knowledge of their works, overturning them in the night, so that they are crushed. Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed. For he knoweth their works : and therefore he shall bring night on them, and they shall be destroyed.
Job 34:26He striketh them as wicked men In the open sight of others; The evil-doers are broken by his wrath, he puts his hand on them with force before the eyes of all onlookers. He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others; He hath struck them, as being wicked, in open sight.
Job 34:27Because they turned aside from following him, And would not have regard in any of his ways: Because they did not go after him, and took no note of his ways,Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:Who as it were on purpose have revolted from him, and would not understand all his ways :
Job 34:28So that they caused the cry of the poor to come unto him, And he heard the cry of the afflicted. So that the cry of the poor might come up to him, and the prayer of those in need come to his ears.So that they cause the cry of the poor to come to him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted. So that they caused the cry of the needy to come to him, and he heard the voice of the poor.
Job 34:29When he giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? Alike whether [it be done] unto a nation, or unto a man: ...When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:For when he granteth peace, who is there that can condemn? When he hideth his countenance, who is there that can behold him, whether it regard nations, or all men?
Job 34:30That the godless man reign not, That there be none to ensnare the people. ...That the hypocrite may not reign, lest the people should be ensnared.Who maketh a man that is a hypocrite to reign for the sins of the people?
Job 34:31For hath any said unto God, I have borne [chastisement], I will not offend [any more]: ...Surely it is meet to be said to God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:Seeing then I have spoken of God, I will not hinder thee in thy turn.
Job 34:32That which I see not teach thou me: If I have done iniquity, I will do it no more? ...That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.If I have erred, teach thou me : if I have spoken iniquity, I will add no more.
Job 34:33Shall his recompense be as thou wilt, that thou refusest it? For thou must choose, and not I: Therefore speak what thou knowest. ...Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou shalt refuse, or whether thou shalt choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.Doth God require it of thee, because it hath displeased thee? for thou begannest to speak, and not I. : but if thou know any thing better, speak.
Job 34:34Men of understanding will say unto me, Yea, every wise man that heareth me: Men of knowledge, and all wise men, hearing me, will say,Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken to me.Let men of understanding speak to me, and let a wise man hearken to me.
Job 34:35Job speaketh without knowledge, And his words are without wisdom. Job's words do not come from knowledge; they are not the fruit of wisdom.Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom. But Job hath spoken foolishly, and his words sound not discipline.
Job 34:36Would that Job were tried unto the end, Because of his answering like wicked men. May Job be tested to the end, because his answers have been like those of evil men.My desire is that Job may be tried to the end, because of his answers for wicked men.My father, let Job be tried even to the end : cease not from the man of iniquity.
Job 34:37For he addeth rebellion unto his sin; He clappeth his hands among us, And multiplieth his words against God. For in addition to his sin, he is uncontrolled in heart; before our eyes he makes sport of God, increasing his words against him.For he addeth rebellion to his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.Because he addeth blasphemy upon his sins, let him be tied fast in the mean time amongst us : and then let him provoke God to judgment with his speeches.
