Psalms 82:1God standeth in the congregation of God; He judgeth among the gods. <A Psalm. Of Asaph.> God is in the meeting-place of God; he is judging among the gods.A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods.A canticle of a psalm for Asaph.
Psalms 82:2How long will ye judge unjustly, And respect the persons of the wicked? Selah How long will you go on judging falsely, having respect for the persons of evil-doers? (Selah.)How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.O God, who shall be like to thee? hold not thy peace, neither be thou still, O God.
Psalms 82:3Judge the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Give ear to the cause of the poor and the children without fathers; let those who are troubled and in need have their rights.Defend the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and needy.For lo, thy enemies have made a noise: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
Psalms 82:4Rescue the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. Be the saviour of the poor and those who have nothing: take them out of the hand of the evil-doers.Deliver the poor and needy: deliver them from the hand of the wicked.They have taken a malicious counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy saints.
Psalms 82:5They know not, neither do they understand; They walk to and fro in darkness: All the foundations of the earth are shaken. They have no knowledge or sense; they go about in the dark: all the bases of the earth are moved.They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.They have said: Come and let us destroy them, so that they be not a nation: and let the name of Israel be remembered no more.
