| 1st-Corinthians 8:1 | Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but love edifieth. | Now about things offered to images: we all seem to ourselves to have knowledge. Knowledge gives pride, but love gives true strength. | Now as to things which have been sacrificed to idols. This is a subject which we already understand because we all have knowledge of it. Knowledge, however, tends to make people conceited; it is love that builds us up. | Now concerning those things that are sacrificed to idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up; but charity edifieth. |
| 1st-Corinthians 8:2 | If any man thinketh that he knoweth anything, he knoweth not yet as he ought to know; | If anyone seems to himself to have knowledge, so far he has not the right sort of knowledge about anything; | If any one imagines that he already possesses any true knowledge, he has as yet attained to no knowledge of the kind to which he ought to have attained; | And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he hath not yet known as he ought to know. |

Some, from force of habit in relation to the idol, even now eat idol sacrifices as such, and their consciences, being but weak, are polluted. | But there is not knowledge in every one. For some until this present, with conscience of the idol: eat as a thing sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled. |

| 1st-Corinthians 8:10 | For if a man see thee who hast knowledge sitting at meat in an idol's temple, will not his conscience, if he is weak, be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols? | For if a man sees you, who have knowledge, taking food as a guest in the house of an image, will it not give him, if he is feeble, the idea that he may take food offered to images? | For if any one were to see you, who know the real truth of this matter, reclining at table in an idol's temple, would not his conscience (supposing him to be a weak believer) be emboldened to eat the food which has been sacrificed to the idol? | For if a man see him that hath knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not his conscience, being weak, be emboldened to eat those things which are sacrificed to idols ? |
| 1st-Corinthians 8:11 | For through thy knowledge he that is weak perisheth, the brother for whose sake Christ died. | And so, through your knowledge, you are the cause of destruction to your brother, for whom Christ underwent death. | Why, your knowledge becomes the ruin of the weak believer your brother, for whom Christ died! | And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ hath died ? |
| 1st-Corinthians 8:12 | And thus, sinning against the brethren, and wounding their conscience when it is weak, ye sin against Christ. | And in this way, doing evil to the brothers, and causing trouble to those whose faith is feeble, you are sinning against Christ. | Moreover when you thus sin against the brethren and wound their weak consciences, you are, in reality, sinning against Christ. | Now when you sin thus against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. |
| 1st-Corinthians 8:13 | Wherefore, if meat causeth my brother to stumble, I will eat no flesh for evermore, that I cause not my brother to stumble. | For this reason, if food is a cause of trouble to my brother, I will give up taking meat for ever, so that I may not be a cause of trouble to my brother. | Therefore if what I eat causes my brother to fall, never again to the end of my days will I touch any kind of animal food, for fear I should cause my brother to fall. | Wherefore, if meat scandalize my brother, I will never eat flesh, lest I should scandalize my brother. |
