2nd-Corinthians 9:1For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you: But there is no need for me to say anything in my letter about the giving to the saints:As to the services which are being rendered to God's people, it is really unnecessary for me to write to you.For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:
2nd-Corinthians 9:2for I know your readiness, of which I glory on your behalf to them of Macedonia, that Achaia hath been prepared for a year past; and your zeal hath stirred up very many of them. For I have before made clear to those of Macedonia my pride in your ready mind, saying to them that Achaia has been ready for a year back; and a great number have been moved to do the same by your example.For I know your earnest willingness, on account of which I habitually boast of you to the Macedonians, pointing out to them that for a whole year you in Greece have been ready; and the greater number of them have been spurred on by your ardour.For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.
2nd-Corinthians 9:3But I have sent the brethren, that our glorying on your behalf may not be made void in this respect; that, even as I said, ye may be prepared: But I have sent the brothers, so that the good things we said about you may be seen to be true, and that, as I said, you may be ready:Still I send the brethren in order that in this matter our boast about you may not turn out to have been an idle one; so that, as I have said, you may be ready;Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:
2nd-Corinthians 9:4lest by any means, if there come with me any of Macedonia and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be put to shame in this confidence. For fear that, if any from Macedonia come with me, and you are not ready, we (not to say, you) might be put to shame in this thing.for fear that, if any Macedonians come with me and find you unprepared, we not to say you yourselves should be put to the blush in respect to this confidence.Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.
2nd-Corinthians 9:5I thought it necessary therefore to entreat the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your aforepromised bounty, that the same might be ready as a matter of bounty, and not of extortion. So it seemed to me wise for the brothers to go before, and see that the amount which you had undertaken to give was ready, so that it might be a cause for praise, and not as if we were making profit out of you.I have thought it absolutely necessary therefore to request these brethren to visit you before I myself come, and to make sure beforehand that the gift of love which you have already promised may be ready as a gift of love, and may not seem to have been something which I have extorted from you.Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.
2nd-Corinthians 9:6But this [I say,] He that soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he that soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. But in the Writings it says, He who puts in only a small number of seeds, will get in the same; and he who puts them in from a full hand, will have produce in full measure from them.But do not forget that he who sows with a niggardly hand will also reap a niggardly crop, and that he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
2nd-Corinthians 9:7[Let] each man [do] according as he hath purposed in his heart: not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. Let every man do after the purpose of his heart; not giving with grief, or by force: for God takes pleasure in a ready giver.Let each contribute what he has decided upon in his own mind, and not do it reluctantly or under compulsion. "It is a cheerful giver that God loves."Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
2nd-Corinthians 9:8And God is able to make all grace abound unto you; that ye, having always all sufficiency in everything, may abound unto every good work: And God is able to give you all grace in full measure; so that ever having enough of all things, you may be full of every good work:And God is able to bestow every blessing on you in abundance, so that richly enjoying all sufficiency at all times, you may have ample means for all good works.And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
2nd-Corinthians 9:9as it is written, He hath scattered abroad, he hath given to the poor; His righteousness abideth for ever. As it is said in the Writings, He has sent out far and wide, he has given to the poor; his righteousness is for ever.As it is written, "He has scattered abroad, he has given to the poor, his almsgiving remains for ever."(As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
2nd-Corinthians 9:10And he that supplieth seed to the sower and bread for food, shall supply and multiply your seed for sowing, and increase the fruits of your righteousness: And he who gives seed for putting into the field and bread for food, will take care of the growth of your seed, at the same time increasing the fruits of your righteousness;And God who continually supplies seed for the sower and bread for eating, will supply you with seed and multiply it, and will cause your almsgiving to yield a plentiful harvest.Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
2nd-Corinthians 9:11ye being enriched in everything unto all liberality, which worketh through us thanksgiving to God. Your wealth being increased in everything, with a simple mind, causing praise to God through us.May you be abundantly enriched so as to show all liberality, such as through our instrumentality brings thanksgiving to God.Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
2nd-Corinthians 9:12For the ministration of this service not only filleth up the measure of the wants of the saints, but aboundeth also through many thanksgivings unto God; For this work of giving not only takes care of the needs of the saints, but is the cause of much praise to God;For the service rendered in this sacred gift not only helps to relieve the wants of God's people, but it is also rich in its results and awakens a chorus of thanksgiving to God.For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
2nd-Corinthians 9:13seeing that through the proving [of you] by this ministration they glorify God for the obedience of your confession unto the gospel of Christ, and for the liberality of [your] contribution unto them and unto all; For when, through this work of giving, they see what you are, they give glory to God for the way in which you have given yourselves to the good news of Christ, and for the wealth of your giving to them and to all;For, by the practical proof of it which you exhibit in this service, you cause God to be extolled for your fidelity to your professed adherence to the Good News of the Christ, and for the liberality of your contributions for them and for all who are in need,Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
2nd-Corinthians 9:14while they themselves also, with supplication on your behalf, long after you by reason of the exceeding grace of God in you. While their hearts go out to you in love and in prayer for you, because of the great grace of God which is in you.while they themselves also in supplications on your behalf pour out their longing love towards you because of God's surpassing grace which is resting upon you.And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.
2nd-Corinthians 9:15Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift. Praise be to God for what he has given, which words have no power to say.Thanks be to God for His unspeakably precious gift!Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
