Job 9:1Then Job answered and said, And Job made answer and said,Then Job answered,And Job answered, and said:
Job 9:2Of a truth I know that it is so: But how can man be just with God? Truly, I see that it is so: and how is it possible for a man to get his right before God?"Truly I know that it is so, But how can man be just with God?Indeed I know it is so, and that man cannot be justified compared with
Job 9:3If he be pleased to contend with him, He cannot answer him one of a thousand. If a man was desiring to go to law with him, he would not be able to give him an answer to one out of a thousand questions. If he is pleased to contend with him, He can't answer him one time in a thousand. If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one for a thousand.
Job 9:4[He is] wise in heart, and mighty in strength: Who hath hardened himself against him, and prospered?- He is wise in heart and great in strength: who ever made his face hard against him, and any good came of it?God who is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: Who has hardened himself against him, and prospered? He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath resisted him, and hath had peace ?
Job 9:5[Him] that removeth the mountains, and they know it not, When he overturneth them in his anger; It is he who takes away the mountains without their knowledge, overturning them in his wrath:Who removes the mountains, and they don't know it, When he overturns them in his angerWho hath removed mountains, and they whom he overthrew in his wrath, knew it not.
Job 9:6That shaketh the earth out of its place, And the pillars thereof tremble; Who is moving the earth out of its place, so that its pillars are shaking:Who shakes the earth out of its place; The pillars of it tremble;Who shaketh the earth out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble.
Job 9:7That commandeth the sun, and it riseth not, And sealeth up the stars; Who gives orders to the sun, and it does not give its light; and who keeps the stars from shining.Who commands the sun, and it doesn't rise, And seals up the stars;Who commandeth tile sun and it riseth not: and shutteth up the stars as it were under a seal:
Job 9:8That alone stretcheth out the heavens, And treadeth upon the waves of the sea; By whose hand the heavens were stretched out, and who is walking on the waves of the sea:Who alone stretches out the heavens, Treads on the waves of the sea;Who alone spreadeth out the heavens, and walketh upon the waves of the sea.
Job 9:9That maketh the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, And the chambers of the south; Who made the Bear and Orion, and the Pleiades, and the store-houses of the south:Who makes the Bear, Orion, and the Pleiades, And the chambers of the south;Who maketh Arcturus, and Orion, and Hyades, and the inner parts of the south.
Job 9:10That doeth great things past finding out, Yea, marvellous things without number. Who does great things not to be searched out; yes, wonders without number.Who does great things past finding out, Yes, marvelous things without number.Who doth things great and incomprehensible, and wonderful, of which there is no number.
Job 9:11Lo, he goeth by me, and I see him not: He passeth on also, but I perceive him not. See, he goes past me and I see him not: he goes on before, but I have no knowledge of him.Behold, he goes by me, and I don't see him. He passes on also, but I don't perceive him.If he come to me, I shall not see him: if he depart I shall not understand.
Job 9:12Behold, he seizeth [the prey], who can hinder him? Who will say unto him, What doest thou? If he puts out his hand to take, by whom may it be turned back? who may say to him, What are you doing?Behold, he snatches away; who can hinder him? Who will ask him, 'What are you doing?'If he examine on a sudden, who shall answer him? or who can say: Why dost thou so?
Job 9:13God will not withdraw his anger; The helpers of Rahab do stoop under him. God's wrath may not be turned back; the helpers of Rahab were bent down under him."God will not withdraw his anger; The helpers of Rahab stoop under him.God, whose wrath no mall can resist, and under whom they stoop that bear up the world.
Job 9:14How much less shall I answer him, And choose out my words [to reason] with him? How much less may I give an answer to him, using the right words in argument with him?How much less shall I answer him, Choose my words to argue with him? What am I then, that I should answer him, and have words with him?
Job 9:15Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer; I would make supplication to my judge. Even if my cause was good, I would not be able to give an answer; I would make request for grace from him who was against me.Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer. I would make supplication to my judge.I, who although I should have any just thing, would not answer, but would make supplication to my judge.
Job 9:16If I had called, and he had answered me, Yet would I not believe that he hearkened unto my voice. If I had sent for him to be present, and he had come, I would have no faith that he would give ear to my voice. If I had called, and he had answered me, Yet would I not believe that he listened to my voice. And if he should hear me when I call, I should not believe that he had heard my voice.
Job 9:17For he breaketh me with a tempest, And multiplieth my wounds without cause. For I would be crushed by his storm, my wounds would be increased without cause. For he breaks me with a tempest, Multiplies my wounds without cause. For he shall crush me in a whirlwind, and multiply my wounds even without cause.
Job 9:18He will not suffer me to take my breath, But filleth me with bitterness. He would not let me take my breath, but I would be full of bitter grief. He will not allow me to take my breath, But fills me with bitterness. He alloweth not my spirit to rest, and he filleth me with bitterness.
Job 9:19If [we speak] of strength, lo, [he is] mighty! And if of justice, Who, [saith he], will summon me? If it is a question of strength, he says, Here I am! and if it is a question of a cause at law, he says, Who will give me a fixed day?If it is a matter of strength, behold, he is mighty! If of justice, 'Who,' says he, 'will summon me?'If strength be demanded, he is most strong: if equity of judgment, no man dare bear witness for me.
Job 9:20Though I be righteous, mine own mouth shall condemn me: Though I be perfect, it shall prove me perverse. Though I was in the right, he would say that I was in the wrong; I have done no evil; but he says that I am a sinner.Though I am righteous, my own mouth shall condemn me. Though I am blameless, it shall prove me perverse. If I would justify myself, my own mouth shall condemn me: if I would shew myself innocent, he shall prove me wicked.
Job 9:21I am perfect; I regard not myself; I despise my life. I have done no wrong; I give no thought to what becomes of me; I have no desire for life.I am blameless. I don't regard myself. I despise my life.Although I should be simple, even this my soul shall be ignorant of, and I shall be weary of my life.
Job 9:22It is all one; therefore I say, He destroyeth the perfect and the wicked. It is all the same to me; so I say, He puts an end to the sinner and to him who has done no wrong together."It is all the same. Therefore I say, He destroys the blameless and the wicked. One thing there is that I have spoken, both the innocent and the wicked he consumeth.
Job 9:23If the scourge slay suddenly, He will mock at the trial of the innocent. If death comes suddenly through disease, he makes sport of the fate of those who have done no wrong. If the scourge kills suddenly, He will mock at the trial of the innocent. If he scourge, let him kill at once, and not laugh at the pains of the innocent.
Job 9:24The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He covereth the faces of the judges thereof: If [it be] not [he], who then is it? The land is given into the power of the evil-doer; the faces of its judges are covered; if not by him, then who has done it?The earth is given into the hand of the wicked. He covers the faces of the judges of it. If not he, then who is it?The earth is given into the hand of the wicked, he covereth the face of the judges thereof: and if it be not he, who is it then?
Job 9:25Now my days are swifter than a post: They flee away, they see no good, My days go quicker than a post-runner: they go in flight, they see no good."Now my days are swifter than a runner. They flee away, they see no good,My days have been swifter than a post: they have fled away and have not seen good.
Job 9:26They are passed away as the swift ships; As the eagle that swoopeth on the prey. They go rushing on like reed-boats, like an eagle dropping suddenly on its food. They have passed away as the swift ships, As the eagle that swoops on the prey. They have passed by as ships carrying fruits, as an eagle flying to the prey.
Job 9:27If I say, I will forget my complaint, I will put off my [sad] countenance, and be of good cheer; If I say, I will put my grief out of mind, I will let my face be sad no longer and I will be bright; If I say, 'I will forget my complaint, I will put off my sad face, and cheer up;'If I say: I will not speak so: I change my face, and am tormented with sorrow.
Job 9:28I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that thou wilt not hold me innocent. I go in fear of all my pains; I am certain that I will not be free from sin in your eyes.I am afraid of all my sorrows, I know that you will not hold me innocent.I feared all my works, knowing that thou didst not spare the offender.
Job 9:29I shall be condemned; Why then do I labor in vain? You will not let me be clear of sin! why then do I take trouble for nothing?I shall be condemned; Why then do I labor in vain? But if so also I am wicked, why have I laboured in vain?
Job 9:30If I wash myself with snow water, And make my hands never so clean; If I am washed with snow water, and make my hands clean with soap;If I wash myself with snow, And cleanse my hands with lye,If I be washed as it were with snow waters, and my hands shall shine ever so clean :
Job 9:31Yet wilt thou plunge me in the ditch, And mine own clothes shall abhor me. Then you will have me pushed into the dust, so that I will seem disgusting to my very clothing.Yet you will plunge me in the ditch. My own clothes shall abhor me.Yet thou shalt plunge me in filth, and my garments shall abhor me,
Job 9:32For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, That we should come together in judgment. For he is not a man as I am, that I might give him an answer, that we might come together before a judge. For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, That we should come together in judgment. For I shall not answer a man that is like myself: nor one that may be heard with me equally in judgment.
Job 9:33There is no umpire betwixt us, That might lay his hand upon us both. There is no one to give a decision between us, who might have control over us.There is no umpire between us, That might lay his hand on us both. There is none that may be able to reprove both, and to put his hand between both.
Job 9:34Let him take his rod away from me, And let not his terror make me afraid: Let him take away his rod from me and not send his fear on me:Let him take his rod away from me, Let his terror not make me afraid:Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me.
Job 9:35Then would I speak, and not fear him; For I am not so in myself. Then I would say what is in my mind without fear of him; for there is no cause of fear in myself. Then I would speak, and not fear him, For I am not so in myself.I will speak, and will not fear him: for I cannot answer while I am in fear.
