Miserable comforters are you all! | I have heard many such things, Miserable comforters [are] ye all. |
| Job 16:3 | Shall vain words have an end? Or what provoketh thee that thou answerest? | May words which are like the wind be stopped? or what is troubling you to make answer to them? | Shall vain words have an end? Or what provokes you that you answer? | Is there an end to words of wind? Or what doth embolden thee that thou answerest? |
| Job 16:4 | I also could speak as ye do; If your soul were in my soul's stead, I could join words together against you, And shake my head at you. | It would not be hard for me to say such things if your souls were in my soul's place; joining words together against you, and shaking my head at you: | I also could speak as you do. If your soul were in my soul's place, I could join words together against you, And shake my head at you. | I also, like you, might speak, If your soul were in my soul`s stead. I might join against you with words, And nod at you with my head. |
| Job 16:5 | [But] I would strengthen you with my mouth, And the solace of my lips would assuage [your grief]. | I might give you strength with my mouth, and not keep back the comfort of my lips. | But I would strengthen you with my mouth. The solace of my lips would relieve you. | I might harden you with my mouth, And the moving of my lips might be sparing. |
| Job 16:6 | Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged; And though I forbear, what am I eased? | If I say what is in my mind, my pain becomes no less: and if I keep quiet, how much of it goes from me? | "Though I speak, my grief is not subsided. Though I forbear, what am I eased? | If I speak, my pain is not restrained, And I cease what goeth from me? |
| Job 16:7 | But now he hath made me weary: Thou hast made desolate all my company. | But now he has overcome me with weariness and fear, and I am in the grip of all my trouble. | But now, God, you have surely worn me out. You have made desolate all my company. | Only, now, it hath wearied me; Thou hast desolated all my company, |
| Job 16:8 | And thou hast laid fast hold on me, [which] is a witness [against me]: And my leanness riseth up against me, It testifieth to my face. | It has come up as a witness against me, and the wasting of my flesh makes answer to my face. | You have shriveled me up. This is a witness against me. My leanness rises up against me, It testifies to my face. | And Thou dost loathe me, For a witness it hath been, And rise up against me doth my failure, In my face it testifieth. |
| Job 16:9 | He hath torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me; He hath gnashed upon me with his teeth: Mine adversary sharpeneth his eyes upon me. | I am broken by his wrath, and his hate has gone after me; he has made his teeth sharp against me: my haters are looking on me with cruel eyes; | He has torn me in his wrath, and persecuted me; He has gnashed on me with his teeth: My adversary sharpens his eyes on me. | His anger hath torn, and he hateth me, He hath gnashed at me with his teeth, My adversary sharpeneth his eyes for me. |
| Job 16:10 | They have gaped upon me with their mouth; They have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully: They gather themselves together against me. | Their mouths are open wide against me; the blows of his bitter words are falling on my face; all of them come together in a mass against me. | They have gaped on me with their mouth; They have struck me on the cheek reproachfully. They gather themselves together against me. | They have gaped on me with their mouth, In reproach they have smitten my cheeks, Together against me they set themselves. |
| Job 16:11 | God delivereth me to the ungodly, And casteth me into the hands of the wicked. | God gives me over to the power of sinners, sending me violently into the hands of evil-doers. | God delivers me to the ungodly, And casts me into the hands of the wicked. | God shutteth me up unto the perverse, And to the hands of the wicked turneth me over. |
| Job 16:12 | I was at ease, and he brake me asunder; Yea, he hath taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces: He hath also set me up for his mark. | I was in comfort, but I have been broken up by his hands; he has taken me by the neck, shaking me to bits; he has put me up as a mark for his arrows. | I was at ease, and he broke me apart. Yes, he has taken me by the neck, and dashed me to pieces. He has also set me up for his target. | At ease I have been, and he breaketh me, And he hath laid hold on my neck, And he breaketh me in pieces, And he raiseth me to him for a mark. |
| Job 16:13 | His archers compass me round about; He cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; He poureth out my gall upon the ground. | His bowmen come round about me; their arrows go through my body without mercy; my life is drained out on the earth. | His archers surround me. He splits my kidneys apart, and does not spare. He pours out my gall on the ground. | Go round against me do his archers. He splitteth my reins, and spareth not, He poureth out to the earth my gall. |
| Job 16:14 | He breaketh me with breach upon breach; He runneth upon me like a giant. | I am broken with wound after wound; he comes rushing on me like a man of war. | He breaks me with breach on breach. | Job 16:15 | I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, And have laid my horn in the dust. | I have made haircloth the clothing of my skin, and my horn is rolled in the dust. | I have sewed sackcloth on my skin, And have thrust my horn in the dust. | Sackcloth I have sewed on my skin, And have rolled in the dust my horn. |
| Job 16:16 | My face is red with weeping, And on my eyelids is the shadow of death; | My face is red with weeping, and my eyes are becoming dark; | My face is red with weeping. Deep darkness is on my eyelids. | My face is foul with weeping, And on mine eyelids [is] death-shade. |
| Job 16:17 | Although there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure. | Though my hands have done no violent acts, and my prayer is clean. | Although there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure. | Not for violence in my hands, And my prayer [is] pure. |

He who vouches for me is on high. | Also, now, lo, in the heavens [is] my witness, And my testifier in the high places. |
| Job 16:20 | My friends scoff at me: [But] mine eye poureth out tears unto God, | My friends make sport of me; to God my eyes are weeping, | My friends scoff at me. My eyes pour out tears to God, | My interpreter [is] my friend, Unto God hath mine eye dropped: |
| Job 16:21 | That he would maintain the right of a man with God, And of a son of man with his neighbor! | So that he may give decision for a man in his cause with God, and between a son of man and his neighbour. | That he would maintain the right of a man with God, Of a son of man with his neighbor! | And he reasoneth for a man with God, And a son of man for his friend. |
| Job 16:22 | For when a few years are come, I shall go the way whence I shall not return. | For in a short time I will take the journey from which I will not come back. | For when a few years are come, I shall go the way from whence I shall not return. | When a few years do come, Then a path I return not do I go. |
