| 2nd-Timothy 4:1 | I charge [thee] in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: | I give you orders, before God and Christ Jesus, who will be the judge of the living and the dead, and by his revelation and his kingdom; |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:2 | preach the word; be urgent in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. | Be preaching the word at all times, in every place; make protests, say sharp words, give comfort, with long waiting and teaching; |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:3 | For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; | For the time will come when they will not take the true teaching; but, moved by their desires, they will get for themselves a great number of teachers for the pleasure of hearing them; |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:4 | and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables. | And shutting their ears to what is true, will be turned away to belief in foolish stories. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:5 | But be thou sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry. | But be self-controlled in all things, do without comfort, go on preaching the good news, completing the work which has been given you to do. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:6 | For I am already being offered, and the time of my departure is come. | For I am even now being offered, and my end is near. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:7 | I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith: | I have made a good fight, I have come to the end of my journey, I have kept the faith: |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:8 | henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day; and not to me only, but also to all them that have loved his appearing. | From now on, the crown of righteousness is made ready for me, which the Lord, the upright judge, Will give to me at that day: and not only to me, but to all those who have had love for his revelation. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:9 | Give diligence to come shortly unto me: | Do your best to come to me before long: |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:10 | for Demas forsook me, having loved this present world, and went to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. | For Demas has gone away from me, for love of this present life, and has gone to Thessalonica: Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:11 | Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee; for he is useful to me for ministering. | Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and take him with you; for he is of use to me in the work. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:12 | But Tychicus I sent to Ephesus. | Tychicus I sent to Ephesus. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:13 | The cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus, bring when thou comest, and the books, especially the parchments. | The coat which I did not take from Troas and which is with Carpus, get when you come, and the books, specially the papers. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:14 | Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord will render to him according to his works: | Alexander the copper-worker did me much wrong: the Lord will give him the reward of his works: |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:15 | of whom do thou also beware; for he greatly withstood our words. | But be on the watch for him, for he was violent in his attacks on our teaching. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:16 | At my first defence no one took my part, but all forsook me: may it not be laid to their account. | At my first meeting with my judges, no one took my part, but all went away from me. May it not be put to their account. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:17 | But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that through me the message might be fully proclaimed, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. | But the Lord was by my side and gave me strength; so that through me the news might be given out in full measure, and all the Gentiles might give ear: and I was taken out of the mouth of the lion. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:18 | The Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will save me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom [be] the glory forever and ever. Amen. | The Lord will keep me safe from every evil work and will give me salvation in his kingdom in heaven: to whom be glory for ever and ever. So be it. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:19 | Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the house of Onesiphorus. | Give my love to Prisca and Aquila and those of the house of Onesiphorus. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:20 | Erastus remained at Corinth: but Trophimus I left at Miletus sick. | Erastus was stopping at Corinth; but Trophimus, when I last saw him was at Miletus, ill. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:21 | Give diligence to come before winter. Eubulus saluteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren. | Do your best to come before the winter. Eubulus sends you his love, and Pudens and Linus and Claudia, and all the brothers. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:22 | The Lord be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. | The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you. |
