Of David. Michtam. When the Philistines took him in Gath.> Have mercy on me, O God, for man is attempting my destruction; every day he makes cruel attacks against me.To the chief Musician upon Jonathelem-rechokim, Michtam of David, when the Philistines took him in Gath. Be merciful to me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.
Psalms 56:2Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long; For they are many that fight proudly against me. Mine enemies would swallow [me] up all the day long; for they are many that fight against me haughtily. My haters are ever ready to put an end to me; great numbers are lifting themselves up against me.My enemies would daily swallow me up: for they are many that fight against me, O thou Most High.
Psalms 56:3What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee. In the day that I am afraid, I will confide in thee.In the time of my fear, I will have faith in you.In the time when I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
Psalms 56:4In God (I will praise his word), In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; What can flesh do unto me? In God will I praise his word, in God I put my confidence: I will not fear; what can flesh do unto me?In God will I give praise to his word; in God have I put my hope; I will have no fear of what flesh may do to me.In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do to me.
Psalms 56:5All the day long they wrest my words: All their thoughts are against me for evil. All the day long they wrest my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil.Every day they make wrong use of my words; all their thoughts are against me for evil.Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.
Psalms 56:6They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, They mark my steps, Even as they have waited for my soul. They gather themselves together, they hide themselves; they mark my steps, because they wait for my soul. They come together, they are waiting in secret places, they take note of my steps, they are waiting for my soul. They assemble themselves, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
Psalms 56:7Shall they escape by iniquity? In anger cast down the peoples, O God. Shall they escape by iniquity? In anger cast down the peoples, O God.By evil-doing they will not get free from punishment. In wrath, O God, let the peoples be made low.Shall they escape by iniquity; in thy anger cast down the people, O God.
Psalms 56:8Thou numberest my wanderings: Put thou my tears into thy bottle; Are they not in thy book? *Thou* countest my wanderings; put my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book? You have seen my wanderings; put the drops from my eyes into your bottle; are they not in your record?Thou numberest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
Psalms 56:9Then shall mine enemies turn back in the day that I call: This I know, that God is for me. Then shall mine enemies return backward in the day when I call: this I know, for God is for me.When I send up my cry to you, my haters will be turned back; I am certain of this, for God is with me.When I cry to thee, then shall my enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
Psalms 56:10In God (I will praise [his] word), In Jehovah (I will praise [his] word), In God will I praise [his] word; in Jehovah will I praise [his] word.In God will I give praise to his word; in the Lord will I give praise to his word.In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.

Psalms 56:13For thou hast delivered my soul from death: [Hast thou] not [delivered] my feet from falling, That I may walk before God In the light of the living? Psalm 57 For the Chief Musician; [set to] Al-tash-heth. [A Psalm] of David. Michtam; when he fled from Saul, in the cave. For thou hast delivered my soul from death; [wilt thou] not [keep] my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?Because you have taken my soul from the power of death; and kept my feet from falling, so that I may be walking before God in the light of life. For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt thou not deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
