Job 3:1After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day. After this, Job opened his mouth and cursed his day. Then, opening his mouth, and cursing the day of his birth,After this hath Job opened his mouth, and revileth his day.
Job 3:2And Job answered and said: And Job answered and said,Job made answer and said,And Job answereth and saith:
Job 3:3Let the day perish wherein I was born, And the night which said, There is a man-child conceived. Let the day perish in which I was born, and the night that said, There is a man child conceived.Let destruction take the day of my birth, and the night on which it was said, A man child has come into the world.Let the day perish in which I am born, And the night that hath said: `A man-child hath been conceived.`
Job 3:4Let that day be darkness; Let not God from above seek for it, Neither let the light shine upon it. That day let it be darkness, let not +God care for it from above, neither let light shine upon it:That day let it be dark; let not God take note of it from on high, and let not the light be shining on it;That day let it be darkness, Let not God require it from above, Nor let light shine upon it.
Job 3:5Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it for their own; Let a cloud dwell upon it; Let all that maketh black the day terrify it. Let darkness and the shadow of death claim it; let clouds dwell upon it; let darkeners of the day terrify it.Let the dark and the black night take it for themselves; let it be covered with a cloud; let the dark shades of day send fear on it.Let darkness and death-shade redeem it, Let a cloud tabernacle upon it, Let them terrify it as the most bitter of days.
Job 3:6As for that night, let thick darkness seize upon it: Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; Let it not come into the number of the months. That night let gloom seize upon it; let it not rejoice among the days of the year; let it not come into the number of the months. That night let the thick dark take it; let it not have joy among the days of the year; let it not come into the number of the months. That night let thick darkness take it, Let it not be united to days of the year, Into the number of months let it not come.
Job 3:7Lo, let that night be barren; Let no joyful voice come therein. Behold, let that night be barren; let no joyful sound come therein; As for that night, let it have no fruit; let no voice of joy be sounded in it;Lo! that night let it be gloomy, Let no singing come into it.
Job 3:8Let them curse it that curse the day, Who are ready to rouse up leviathan. Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to rouse Leviathan;Let it be cursed by those who put a curse on the day; who are ready to make Leviathan awake.Let the cursers of day mark it, Who are ready to wake up Leviathan.
Job 3:9Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark: Let it look for light, but have none; Neither let it behold the eyelids of the morning: Let the stars of its twilight be dark; let it wait for light, and have none, neither let it see the eyelids of the dawn:Let its morning stars be dark; let it be looking for light, but may it not have any; let it not see the eyes of the dawn.Let the stars of its twilight be dark, Let it wait for light, and there is none, And let it not look on the eyelids of the dawn.
Job 3:10Because it shut not up the doors of my [mother's] womb, Nor hid trouble from mine eyes. Because it shut not up the doors of the womb that bore me, and hid not trouble from mine eyes.Because it did not keep the doors of my mother's body shut, so that trouble might be veiled from my eyes.Because it hath not shut the doors Of the womb that was mine! And hide misery from mine eyes.
Job 3:11Why died I not from the womb? Why did I not give up the ghost when my mother bare me? Wherefore did I not die from the womb, come forth from the belly and expire? Why did death not take me when I came out of my mother's body, why did I not, when I came out, give up my last breath? Why from the womb do I not die? From the belly I have come forth and gasp!
Job 3:12Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breast, that I should suck? Why did the knees meet me? and wherefore the breasts, that I should suck? Why did the knees take me, or why the breasts that they might give me milk?Wherefore have knees been before me? And what [are] breasts, that I suck?
Job 3:13For now should I have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept; then had I been at rest, For now should I have lain down and been quiet; I should have slept: then had I been at rest,For then I might have gone to my rest in quiet, and in sleep have been in peace,For now, I have lain down, and am quiet, I have slept then there is rest to me,
Job 3:14With kings and counsellors of the earth, Who built up waste places for themselves; With kings and counsellors of the earth, who build desolate places for themselves,With kings and the wise ones of the earth, who put up great houses for themselves; With kings and counsellors of earth, These building wastes for themselves.
Job 3:15Or with princes that had gold, Who filled their houses with silver: Or with princes who had gold, who filled their houses with silver;Or with rulers who had gold, and whose houses were full of silver;Or with princes they have gold, They are filling their houses [with] silver.
Job 3:16Or as a hidden untimely birth I had not been, As infants that never saw light. Or as a hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants that have not seen the light.Or as a child dead at birth I might never have come into existence; like young children who have not seen the light.(Or as a hidden abortion I am not, As infants they have not seen light.)
Job 3:17There the wicked cease from troubling; And there the weary are at rest. There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the wearied are at rest. There the passions of the evil are over, and those whose strength has come to an end have rest. There the wicked have ceased troubling, And there rest do the wearied in power.
Job 3:18There the prisoners are at ease together; They hear not the voice of the taskmaster. The prisoners together are at ease; they hear not the voice of the taskmaster. There the prisoners are at peace together; the voice of the overseer comes not again to their ears.Together prisoners have been at ease, They have not heard the voice of an exactor,
Job 3:19The small and the great are there: And the servant is free from his master. The small and great are there, and the bondman freed from his master. The small and the great are there, and the servant is free from his master.Small and great [are] there the same. And a servant [is] free from his lord.
Job 3:20Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, And life unto the bitter in soul; Wherefore is light given to him that is in trouble, and life to those bitter of soul,Why does he give light to him who is in trouble, and life to the bitter in soul; Why giveth He to the miserable light, and life to the bitter soul?
Job 3:21Who long for death, but it cometh not, And dig for it more than for hid treasures; Who long for death, and it [cometh] not, and dig for it more than for hidden treasures; To those whose desire is for death, but it comes not; who are searching for it more than for secret wealth;Who are waiting for death, and it is not, And they seek it above hid treasures.
Job 3:22Who rejoice exceedingly, And are glad, when they can find the grave? Who rejoice even exultingly and are glad when they find the grave?Who are glad with great joy, and full of delight when they come to their last resting-place;Who are glad unto joy, They rejoice when they find a grave.
Job 3:23[Why is light given] to a man whose way is hid, And whom God hath hedged in? To the man whose way is hidden, and whom +God hath hedged in?To a man whose way is veiled, and who is shut in by God?To a man whose way hath been hidden, And whom God doth shut up?
Job 3:24For my sighing cometh before I eat, And my groanings are poured out like water. For my sighing cometh before my bread, and my groanings are poured out like the waters. In place of my food I have grief, and cries of sorrow come from me like water. For before my food, my sighing cometh, And poured out as waters [are] my roarings.
Job 3:25For the thing which I fear cometh upon me, And that which I am afraid of cometh unto me. For I feared a fear, and it hath come upon me, and that which I dreaded hath come to me.For I have a fear and it comes on me, and my heart is greatly troubled. For a fear I feared and it meeteth me, And what I was afraid of doth come to me.
Job 3:26I am not at ease, neither am I quiet, neither have I rest; But trouble cometh. I was not in safety, neither had I quietness, neither was I at rest, and trouble came.I have no peace, no quiet, and no rest; nothing but pain comes on me.I was not safe nor was I quiet Nor was I at rest and trouble cometh!
