Lamentations 3:1I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath. I am the man that hath seen affliction by the rod of his wrath.Aleph. I am the man that see my poverty by the rod of his indignation.I [am] the man [who] hath seen affliction By the rod of His wrath.
Lamentations 3:2He hath led me and caused me to walk in darkness, and not in light. Me hath he led, and brought into darkness, and not into light.Aleph. He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, and not into light.Me He hath led, and causeth to go [in] darkness, and without light.
Lamentations 3:3Surely against me he turneth his hand again and again all the day. Surely against me hath he turned again and again his hand all the day.Aleph. Only against me he hath turned, and turned again his hand all the day.Surely against me He turneth back, He turneth His hand all the day.
Lamentations 3:4My flesh and my skin hath he made old; he hath broken my bones. My flesh and my skin hath he wasted away, he hath broken my bones.Beth. My skin and my flesh he hath made old, he hath broken my bones.He hath worn out my flesh and my skin. He hath broken my bones.
Lamentations 3:5He hath builded against me, and compassed me with gall and travail. He hath built against me, and encompassed [me] with gall and toil.Beth. He hath built round about me, and he hath compassed me with gall and labour.He hath built up against me, And setteth round poverty and weariness.
Lamentations 3:6He hath made me to dwell in dark places, as those that have been long dead. He hath made me to dwell in dark places as those that have been long dead.Beth. He hath set me in dark places as those that are dead for ever.In dark places He hath caused me to dwell, As the dead of old.
Lamentations 3:7He hath walled me about, that I cannot go forth; he hath made my chain heavy. He hath hedged me about that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.Ghimel. He hath built against me round about, that I may not get out: he hath made my fetters heavy.He hath hedged me about, and I go not out, He hath made heavy my fetter.
Lamentations 3:8Yea, when I cry, and call for help, he shutteth out my prayer. Even when I cry and shout, he shutteth out my prayer.Ghimel. Yea, and when I cry, and entreat, he hath shut out my prayer.Also when I call and cry out, He hath shut out my prayer.

He hath shut up my ways with square stones, he hath turned my paths upside down.He hath hedged my ways with hewn work, My paths He hath made crooked.
Lamentations 3:10He is unto me as a bear lying in wait, as a lion in secret places. He is unto me [as] a bear lying in wait, a lion in secret places.Daleth. He is become to me as a bear lying in wait: as a lion in secret places.A bear lying in wait He [is] to me, A lion in secret hiding-places.
Lamentations 3:11He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate. He hath turned aside my ways, and pulled me in pieces; he hath made me desolate.Daleth. He hath turned aside my paths, and hath broken me in pieces, he hath made me desolate.My ways He is turning aside, and He pulleth me in pieces, He hath made me a desolation.
Lamentations 3:12He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow. He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for the arrow.Daleth. He hath bent his bow, and set me as a mark for his arrows.He hath trodden His bow, And setteth me up as a mark for an arrow.
Lamentations 3:13He hath caused the shafts of his quiver to enter into my reins. He hath caused the arrows of his quiver to enter into my reins.He. He hath shot into my reins the daughters of his quiver.He hath caused to enter into my reins The sons of His quiver.
Lamentations 3:14I am become a derision to all my people, and their song all the day. I am become a derision to all my people; their song all the day.He. I am made a derision to all my people, their song all the day long.I have been a derision to all my people, Their song all the day.
Lamentations 3:15He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath sated me with wormwood. He hath sated me with bitterness, he hath made me drunk with wormwood.He. He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath inebriated me with wormwood.He hath filled me with bitter things, He hath filled me [with] wormwood.
Lamentations 3:16He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones; he hath covered me with ashes. He hath also broken my teeth with gravel stones, he hath covered me with ashes.Vau. And he hath broken my teeth one by one, he hath fed me with ashes.And He breaketh with gravel my teeth, He hath covered me with ashes.
Lamentations 3:17And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace; I forgat prosperity. And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I have forgotten prosperity.Vau. And my soul is removed far off from peace, I have forgotten good things.And Thou castest off from peace my soul, I have forgotten prosperity.
Lamentations 3:18And I said, My strength is perished, and mine expectation from Jehovah. And I said, My strength is perished, and my hope in Jehovah.Vau. And I said: My end and my hope is perished from the Lord.And I say, Perished hath my strength and my hope from Jehovah.
Lamentations 3:19Remember mine affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall. Remember thou mine affliction and my wandering, the wormwood and the gall.Zain. Remember my poverty, and transgression, the wormwood, and the gall.Remember my affliction and my mourning, Wormwood and gall!
Lamentations 3:20My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is bowed down within me. My soul hath [them] constantly in remembrance, and is humbled in me.Zain. I will be mindful and remember, and my soul shall languish within me.Remember well, and bow down doth my soul in me.
Lamentations 3:21This I recall to my mind; therefore have I hope. This I recall to heart, therefore have I hope.Zain. These things I shall think over in my heart, therefore will I hope.This I turn to my heart therefore I hope.
Lamentations 3:22[It is of] Jehovah's lovingkindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. It is of Jehovah's loving-kindness we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not;Heth. The mercies of the Lord that we are not consumed: because his commiserations have not failed.The kindnesses of Jehovah! For we have not been consumed, For not ended have His mercies.
Lamentations 3:23They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.Heth. They are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness.New every morning, abundant [is] thy faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:24Jehovah is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. Jehovah is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him.Heth. The Lord is my portion, said my soul: therefore will I wait for him.My portion [is] Jehovah, hath my soul said, Therefore I hope for Him.
Lamentations 3:25Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. Jehovah is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul [that] seeketh him.Teth. The Lord is good to them that hope in him, to the soul that seeketh him.Good [is] Jehovah to those waiting for Him, To the soul [that] seeketh Him.
Lamentations 3:26It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait for the salvation of Jehovah. It is good that one should both wait, and that in silence, for the salvation of Jehovah.Teth. It is good to wait with silence for the salvation of God.Good! when one doth stay and stand still For the salvation of Jehovah.
Lamentations 3:27It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth:Teth. It is good for a man, when he hath borne the yoke from his youth.Good for a man that he beareth a yoke in his youth.
Lamentations 3:28Let him sit alone and keep silence, because he hath laid it upon him. He sitteth solitary and keepeth silence, because he hath laid it upon him;Jod. He shall sit solitary, and hold his peace: because he hath taken it up upon himself.He sitteth alone, and is silent, For He hath laid [it] upon him.
Lamentations 3:29Let him put his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope. he putteth his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope;Jod. He shall put his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope.He putteth in the dust his mouth, if so be there is hope.
Lamentations 3:30Let him give his cheek to him that smiteth him; let him be filled full with reproach. he giveth his cheek to him that smiteth him; he is filled full with reproach.Jod. He shall give his cheek to him that striketh him, he shall be filled with reproaches.He giveth to his smiter the cheek, He is filled with reproach.
Lamentations 3:31For the Lord will not cast off for ever. For the Lord will not cast off for ever;Caph. For the Lord will not cast off for ever.For the Lord doth not cast off to the age.
Lamentations 3:32For though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses. but if he have caused grief, he will have compassion according to the multitude of his loving-kindnesses:Caph. For if he hath cast off, he will also have mercy, according to the multitude of his mercies.For though He afflicted, yet He hath pitied, According to the abundance of His kindness.
Lamentations 3:33For he doth not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men. for he doth not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.Caph. For he hath not willingly afflicted, nor cast off the children of men.For He hath not afflicted with His heart, Nor doth He grieve the sons of men.
Lamentations 3:34To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth, To crush under foot all the prisoners of the earth,Lamed. To crush under his feet all the prisoners of the land,To bruise under one`s feet any bound ones of earth,
Lamentations 3:35To turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High, to turn aside the right of a man before the face of the Most High,Lamed. To turn aside the judgment of a man before the face of the most High,To turn aside the judgment of a man, Over-against the face of the Most High,
Lamentations 3:36To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord approveth not. to wrong a man in his cause, will not the Lord see it?Lamed. To destroy a man wrongfully in his judgment, the Lord hath not approved.To subvert a man in his cause, the Lord hath not approved.
Lamentations 3:37Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not? Who is he that saith, and there cometh to pass, what the Lord hath not commanded?Mem. Who is he that hath commanded a thing to be done, when the Lord commandeth it not?Who [is] this he hath said, and it is, [And] the Lord hath not commanded [it]?
Lamentations 3:38Out of the mouth of the Most High cometh there not evil and good? Out of the mouth of the Most High doth not there proceed evil and good?Mem. Shall not both evil and good proceed out of the mouth of the Highest?From the mouth of the Most High Go not forth the evils and the good.
Lamentations 3:39Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins?Mem. Why hath a living man murmured, man suffering for his sins?What sigh habitually doth a living man, A man for his sin?
Lamentations 3:40Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Jehovah. Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to Jehovah.Nun. Let us search our ways, and seek, and return to the Lord.We search our ways, and investigate, And turn back unto Jehovah.
Lamentations 3:41Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens. Let us lift up our heart with [our] hands unto ùGod in the heavens.Nun. Let us lift up our hearts with our hands to the Lord in the heavens.We lift up our heart on the hands unto God in the heavens.
Lamentations 3:42We have transgressed and have rebelled; thou hast not pardoned. We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.Nun. We have done wickedly, and provoked thee to wrath: therefore thou art inexorable.We we have transgressed and rebelled, Thou Thou hast not forgiven.
Lamentations 3:43Thou hast covered with anger and pursued us; thou hast slain, thou hast not pitied. Thou hast covered in thy wrath, and hast struck us: thou hast killed and hast not spared.Thou hast covered Thyself with anger, And dost pursue us; Thou hast slain Thou hast not pitied.
Lamentations 3:44Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, so that no prayer can pass through. Thou hast covered thyself with a cloud, that prayer should not pass through.Samech. Thou hast set a cloud before thee, that our prayer may not pass through.Thou hast covered Thyself with a cloud, So that prayer doth not pass through.
Lamentations 3:45Thou hast made us an off-scouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples. Thou hast made us the offscouring and refuse in the midst of the peoples.Samech. Thou hast made me as an outcast, and refuse in the midst of the people.Offscouring and refuse Thou dost make us In the midst of the peoples.
Lamentations 3:46All our enemies have opened their mouth wide against us. All our enemies have opened their mouth against us.Phe. All our enemies have opened their mouths against us.Opened against us their mouth have all our enemies.
Lamentations 3:47Fear and the pit are come upon us, devastation and destruction. Fear and the pit are come upon us, devastation and ruin.Phe. Prophecy is become to us a fear, and a snare, and destruction.Fear and a snare hath been for us, Desolation and destruction.
Lamentations 3:48Mine eye runneth down with streams of water, for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
