| 1st-Corinthians 5:1 | It is actually reported that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not even among the Gentiles, that one [of you] hath his father's wife. | It is universally reported [that there is] fornication among you, and such fornication as [is] not even among the nations, so that one should have his father's wife. | It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the Gentiles, that one has his father's wife. | It is said, in fact, that there is among you a sin of the flesh, such as is not seen even among the Gentiles, that one of you has his father's wife. |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:2 | And ye are puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he that had done this deed might be taken away from among you. | And *ye* are puffed up, and ye have not rather mourned, in order that he that has done this deed might be taken away out of the midst of you. | You are puffed up, and didn't rather mourn, that he who had done this deed might be removed from among you. | And in place of feeling sorrow, you are pleased with yourselves, so that he who has done this thing has not been sent away from among you. |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:3 | For I verily, being absent in body but present in spirit, have already as though I were present judged him that hath so wrought this thing, | For *I*, [as] absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged as present, | For I most assuredly, as being absent in body but present in spirit, have already, as though I were present, judged him who has done this thing. | For I myself, being present in spirit though not in body, have come to a decision about him who has done this thing; |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:4 | in the name of our Lord Jesus, ye being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, | [to deliver,] in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ (ye and my spirit being gathered together, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ), him that has so wrought this: | In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, you being gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, | In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you have come together with my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:5 | to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. | to deliver him, [I say,] [being] such, to Satan for destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. | are to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. | That this man is to be handed over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may have forgiveness in the day of the Lord Jesus. |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:6 | Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? | Your boasting [is] not good. Do ye not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump? | Your boasting is not good. Don't you know that a little yeast leavens the whole lump? | This pride of yours is not good. Do you not see that a little leaven makes a change in all the mass? |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:7 | Purge out the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, even as ye are unleavened. For our passover also hath been sacrificed, [even] Christ: | Purge out the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, according as ye are unleavened. For also our passover, Christ, has been sacrificed; | Purge out the old yeast, that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, has been sacrificed in our place. | Take away, then, the old leaven, so that you may be a new mass, even as you are without leaven. For Christ has been put to death as our Passover. |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:8 | wherefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. | so that let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with leaven of malice and wickedness, but with unleavened [bread] of sincerity and truth. | Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old yeast, neither with the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. | Let us then keep the feast, not with old leaven, and not with the leaven of evil thoughts and acts, but with the unleavened bread of true thoughts and right feelings. |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:9 | I wrote unto you in my epistle to have no company with fornicators; | I have written to you in the epistle not to mix with fornicators; | I wrote to you in my letter to have no company with sexual sinners; | In my letter I said to you that you were not to keep company with those who go after the desires of the flesh; |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:10 | not at all [meaning] with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world: | not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the avaricious and rapacious, or idolaters, since [then] ye should go out of the world. | yet not at all meaning with the sexual sinners of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then you would have to leave the world. | But I had not in mind the sinners who are outside the church, or those who have a desire for and take the property of others, or those who give worship to images; for it is not possible to keep away from such people without going out of the world completely: |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:11 | but as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat. | But now I have written to you, if any one called brother be fornicator, or avaricious, or idolater, or abusive, or a drunkard, or rapacious, not to mix with [him]; with such a one not even to eat. | But as it is, I wrote to you not to keep company, if any man who is named a brother is a sexual sinner, or covetous, or an idolater, or a slanderer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner. Don't even eat with such a person. | But the sense of my letter was that if a brother had the name of being one who went after the desires of the flesh, or had the desire for other people's property, or was in the way of using violent language, or being the worse for drink, or took by force what was not his, you might not keep company with such a one, or take food with him. |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:12 | For what have I to do with judging them that are without? Do not ye judge them that are within? | For what have *I* [to do] with judging those outside also? *ye*, do not ye judge them that are within? | For what have I to do with also judging those who are outside? Don't you judge those who are within? | For it is no business of mine to be judging those who are outside; but it is yours to be judging those who are among you; |
| 1st-Corinthians 5:13 | But them that are without God judgeth. Put away the wicked man from among yourselves. | But those without God judges. Remove the wicked person from amongst yourselves. | But those who are outside, God judges. "Put away the wicked man from among yourselves." | As for those who are outside, God is their judge. So put away the evil man from among you. |
