| Isaiah 64:1 | Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might quake at thy presence, | Oh, that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence, | Oh that you would tear the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might quake at your presence, | That thou wouldst rend the heavens, and wouldst come down: the mountains would melt away at thy presence. |
| Isaiah 64:2 | as when fire kindleth the brushwood, [and] the fire causeth the waters to boil; to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence! | as fire kindleth brushwood, as the fire causeth water to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations might tremble at thy presence! | as when fire kindles the brushwood, [and] the fire causes the waters to boil; to make your name known to your adversaries, that the nations may tremble at your presence! | They would melt as at the burning of fire, the waters would burn with fire, that thy name might be made known to thy enemies: that the nations might tremble at thy presence. |
| Isaiah 64:3 | When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains quaked at thy presence. | When thou didst terrible things [which] we looked not for, thou camest down, and the mountains flowed down at thy presence. | When you did terrible things which we didn't look for, you came down, the mountains quaked at your presence. | When thou shalt do wonderful things, we shall not bear them: thou didst come down, and at thy presence the mountains melted away. |
| Isaiah 64:4 | For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen a God besides thee, who worketh for him that waiteth for him. | Never have [men] heard, nor perceived by the ear, nor hath eye seen a God beside thee, who acteth for him that waiteth for him. | For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither has the eye seen a God besides you, who works for him who waits for him. | From the beginning of the world they have not heard, nor perceived with the ears: the eye hath not seen, O God, besides thee, what things thou hast prepared for them that wait for thee. |
| Isaiah 64:5 | Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou wast wroth, and we sinned: in them [have we been] of long time; and shall we be saved? | Thou meetest him that rejoiceth to do righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: (behold, thou wast wroth, and we have sinned:) in those is perpetuity, and we shall be saved. | You meet him who rejoices and works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways: behold, you were angry, and we sinned: in them [have we been] of long time; and shall we be saved? | Thou hast met him that rejoiceth, and doth justice: in thy ways they shall remember thee: behold thou art angry, and we have sinned: in them we have been always, and we shall be saved. |
| Isaiah 64:6 | For we are all become as one that is unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as a polluted garment: and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. | And we are all become as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have carried us away; | For we are all become as one who is unclean, and all our righteousness are as a polluted garment: and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. | And we are all become as one unclean, and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman: and we have all fallen as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. |
| Isaiah 64:7 | And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee; for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us by means of our iniquities. | and there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee; for thou hast hidden thy face from us, and hast caused us to melt away through our iniquities. | There is none who calls on your name, who stirs up himself to take hold of you; for you have hid your face from us, and have consumed us by means of our iniquities. | There is none that calleth upon thy name: that riseth up, and taketh hold of thee: thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast crushed us in the hand of our iniquity. |
| Isaiah 64:8 | But now, O Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. | And now, Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. | But now, Yahweh, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you our potter; and we all are the work of your hand. | And now, O Lord, thou art our father, and we are clay: and thou art our maker, and we all are the works of thy hands. |
| Isaiah 64:9 | Be not wroth very sore, O Jehovah, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, look, we beseech thee, we are all thy people. | Be not wroth very sore, O Jehovah, neither remember iniquity for ever. Behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people. | Don't be angry very sore, Yahweh, neither remember iniquity forever: see, look, we beg you, we are all your people. | Be not very angry, O Lord, and remember no longer our iniquity: behold, see we are all thy people. |
| Isaiah 64:10 | Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. | Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. | Your holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. | The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert, Sion is made a desert, Jerusalem is desolate. |
| Isaiah 64:11 | Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant places are laid waste. | Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt up with fire, and all our precious things are laid waste. | Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised you, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant places are laid waste. | The house of our holiness, and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt with fire, and all our lovely things are turned into ruins. |
| Isaiah 64:12 | Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O Jehovah? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore? | Wilt thou restrain thyself in presence of these things, Jehovah? Wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore? | Will you refrain yourself for these things, Yahweh? will you hold your peace, and afflict us very sore? | Wilt thou refrain thyself, O Lord, upon these things, wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us vehemently? |
