| Isaiah 64:1 | Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might quake at thy presence, | That thou wouldst rend the heavens, and wouldst come down: the mountains would melt away at thy presence. | Oh, that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence, | Didst Thou not rend the heavens? Thou didst come down, From thy presence did mountains flow, |
| Isaiah 64:2 | as when fire kindleth the brushwood, [and] the fire causeth the waters to boil; to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations may tremble at thy presence! | They would melt as at the burning of fire, the waters would burn with fire, that thy name might be made known to thy enemies: that the nations might tremble at thy presence. | as fire kindleth brushwood, as the fire causeth water to boil, to make thy name known to thine adversaries, that the nations might tremble at thy presence! | (As fire kindleth stubble Fire causeth water to boil,) To make known Thy name to Thine adversaries, From Thy presence do nations tremble. |
| Isaiah 64:3 | When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the mountains quaked at thy presence. | When thou shalt do wonderful things, we shall not bear them: thou didst come down, and at thy presence the mountains melted away. | When thou didst terrible things [which] we looked not for, thou camest down, and the mountains flowed down at thy presence. | In Thy doing fearful things we expect not, Thou didst come down, From Thy presence did mountains flow. |
| Isaiah 64:4 | For from of old men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen a God besides thee, who worketh for him that waiteth for him. | From the beginning of the world they have not heard, nor perceived with the ears: the eye hath not seen, O God, besides thee, what things thou hast prepared for them that wait for thee. | Never have [men] heard, nor perceived by the ear, nor hath eye seen a God beside thee, who acteth for him that waiteth for him. | Even from antiquity [men] have not heard, They have not given ear, Eye hath not seen a God save Thee, He doth work for those waiting for Him. |
| Isaiah 64:5 | Thou meetest him that rejoiceth and worketh righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: behold, thou wast wroth, and we sinned: in them [have we been] of long time; and shall we be saved? | Thou hast met him that rejoiceth, and doth justice: in thy ways they shall remember thee: behold thou art angry, and we have sinned: in them we have been always, and we shall be saved. | Thou meetest him that rejoiceth to do righteousness, those that remember thee in thy ways: (behold, thou wast wroth, and we have sinned:) in those is perpetuity, and we shall be saved. | Thou hast met with the rejoicer And the doer of righteousness, In Thy ways they remember Thee, Lo, Thou hast been wroth when we sin, By them [is] continuance, and we are saved. |
| Isaiah 64:6 | For we are all become as one that is unclean, and all our righteousnesses are as a polluted garment: and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away. | And we are all become as one unclean, and all our justices as the rag of a menstruous woman: and we have all fallen as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. | And we are all become as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have carried us away; | And we are as unclean all of us, And as a garment passing away, all our righteous acts; And we fade as a leaf all of us. And our iniquities as wind do take us away. |
| Isaiah 64:7 | And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee; for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us by means of our iniquities. | There is none that calleth upon thy name: that riseth up, and taketh hold of thee: thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast crushed us in the hand of our iniquity. | and there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee; for thou hast hidden thy face from us, and hast caused us to melt away through our iniquities. | And there is none calling in Thy name, Stirring up himself to lay hold on Thee, For Thou hast hid Thy face from us, And thou meltest us away by our iniquities. |
| Isaiah 64:8 | But now, O Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. | And now, O Lord, thou art our father, and we are clay: and thou art our maker, and we all are the works of thy hands. | And now, Jehovah, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. | And now, O Jehovah, thou [art] our Father, We [are] the clay, and Thou our Framer, And the work of Thy hand all of us. |
| Isaiah 64:9 | Be not wroth very sore, O Jehovah, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, look, we beseech thee, we are all thy people. | Be not very angry, O Lord, and remember no longer our iniquity: behold, see we are all thy people. | Be not wroth very sore, O Jehovah, neither remember iniquity for ever. Behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people. | Be not wroth, O Jehovah, very sore, Nor for ever remember iniquity, Lo, look attentively, we beseech Thee, Thy people [are] we all. |
| Isaiah 64:10 | Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is become a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. | The city of thy sanctuary is become a desert, Sion is made a desert, Jerusalem is desolate. | Thy holy cities are become a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation. | Thy holy cities have been a wilderness, Zion a wilderness hath been, Jerusalem a desolation. |
| Isaiah 64:11 | Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned with fire; and all our pleasant places are laid waste. | The house of our holiness, and of our glory, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt with fire, and all our lovely things are turned into ruins. | Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burnt up with fire, and all our precious things are laid waste. | Our holy and our beautiful house, Where praise Thee did our fathers, Hath become burnt with fire, And all our desirable things have become a waste. |
| Isaiah 64:12 | Wilt thou refrain thyself for these things, O Jehovah? wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore? | Wilt thou refrain thyself, O Lord, upon these things, wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us vehemently? | Wilt thou restrain thyself in presence of these things, Jehovah? Wilt thou hold thy peace, and afflict us very sore? | For these dost Thou refrain Thyself, Jehovah? Thou art silent, and dost afflict us very sore!` |
