Psalms 56:1Be merciful unto me, O God; for man would swallow me up: All the day long he fighting oppresseth me. Unto the end, destroy not, for David, for an inscription of a title, when he fled from Saul into the caveBe merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.{To the chief Musician. On Jonathelem-rechokim. Of David. Michtam; when the Philistines took him in Gath.} Be gracious unto me, O God; for man would swallow me up: all the day long fighting he oppresseth me.
Psalms 56:2Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long; For they are many that fight proudly against me. Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me: for my soul trusteth in thee. And in the shadow of thy wings will I hope, until iniquity pass away.Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.Mine enemies would swallow [me] up all the day long; for they are many that fight against me haughtily.
Psalms 56:3What time I am afraid, I will put my trust in thee. I will cry to God the most High; to God who hath done good to me.What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.In the day that I am afraid, I will confide in thee.
Psalms 56:4In God (I will praise his word), In God have I put my trust, I will not be afraid; What can flesh do unto me? He hath sent from heaven and delivered me: he hath made them a reproach that trod upon me. God hath sent his mercy and his truth,In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. In God will I praise his word, in God I put my confidence: I will not fear; what can flesh do unto me?

Psalms 56:9Then shall mine enemies turn back in the day that I call: This I know, that God is for me.
