| Psalms 13:1 | How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou forget me for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me? | Unto the end, a psalm for David. The fool hath said in his heart: There is no God, They are corrupt, and are become abominable in their ways: there is none that doth good, no not one. | How long, Yahweh? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? | <To the chief music-maker. A Psalm. Of David.> Will you for ever put me out of your memory, O Lord? will your face for ever be turned away from me? |
| Psalms 13:2 | How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? | The Lord hath looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there be any that understand and seek God. | How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart every day? How long shall my enemy triumph over me? | How long is my soul to be in doubt, with sorrow in my heart all the day? how long will he who is against me be given power over me? |
| Psalms 13:3 | Consider [and] answer me, O Jehovah my God: Lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the [sleep of] death; | They are all gone aside, they are become unprofitable together: there is none that doth good, no not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre: with their tongues they acted deceitfully; the poison of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness; their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and unhappiness in their ways: and the way of peace they have not known: there is no fear of God before their eyes. | Behold, and answer me, Yahweh, my God. Give light to my eyes, lest I sleep in death; | Let my voice come before you, and give me an answer, O Lord my God; let your light be shining on me, so that the sleep of death may not overtake me; |
| Psalms 13:4 | Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; [Lest] mine adversaries rejoice when I am moved. | Shall not all they know that work iniquity, who devour my people as they eat bread ? | Lest my enemy say, "I have prevailed against him;" Lest my adversaries rejoice when I fall. | And he who is against me may not say, I have overcome him; and those who are troubling me may not be glad when I am moved. |
| Psalms 13:5 | But I have trusted in thy lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. | They have not called upon the Lord: there have they trembled for fear, where there was no fear. | But I trust in your lovingkindness. My heart rejoices in your salvation. | But I have had faith in your mercy; my heart will be glad in your salvation. |
| Psalms 13:6 | I will sing unto Jehovah, Because he hath dealt bountifully with me. Psalm 14 For the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David. | For the Lord is in the just generation: you have confounded the counsel of the poor man, but the Lord is his hope. | I will sing to Yahweh, Because he has been good to me. Psalm 14 For the Chief Musician. By David. | I will make a song to the Lord, because he has given me my reward. |
