Psalms 10:1Why standest thou afar off, O Jehovah? Why hidest thou thyself in times of trouble? Why, O Lord, hast thou retired afar off? why dost thou slight us in our wants, in the time of trouble? Why do you stand far off, Yahweh? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble? Why, Jehovah, standest thou afar off? [Why] hidest thou thyself in times of distress?
Psalms 10:2In the pride of the wicked the poor is hotly pursued; Let them be taken in the devices that they have conceived. Unto the end. A psalm for David. In arrogance, the wicked hunt down the weak; They are caught in the schemes that they devise. The wicked, in his pride, doth hotly pursue the afflicted. They shall be taken in the devices that they have imagined.
Psalms 10:3For the wicked boasteth of his heart's desire, And the covetous renounceth, [yea], contemneth Jehovah. In the Lord I put my trust: how then do you say to my soul: Get thee away from hence to the mountain like a sparrow? For the wicked boasts of his heart's cravings, He blesses the greedy, and condemns Yahweh. For the wicked boasteth of his soul's desire, and he blesseth the covetous; he contemneth Jehovah.
Psalms 10:4The wicked, in the pride of his countenance, [saith], He will not require [it]. All his thoughts are, There is no God. Whilst the wicked man is proud, the poor is set on fire: they are caught in the counsels which they devise. The wicked, in the pride of his face, Has no room in his thoughts for God.The wicked [saith], in the haughtiness of his countenance, He doth not search out: all his thoughts are, There is no God!
Psalms 10:5His ways are firm at all times; Thy judgments are far above out of his sight: As for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them. For the sinner is praised in the desires of his soul: and the unjust man is blessed. His ways are prosperous at all times; He is haughty, and your laws are far from his sight: As for all his adversaries, he sneers at them. His ways always succeed; thy judgments are far above out of his sight; [as for] all his adversaries, he puffeth at them.
Psalms 10:6He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved; To all generations I shall not be in adversity. For, lo, the wicked have bent their bow; they have prepared their arrows in the quiver; to shoot in the dark the upright of heart. He says in his heart, "I shall not be shaken; For generations I shall have no trouble."He saith in his heart, I shall not be moved; from generation to generation I shall be in no adversity.
Psalms 10:7His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and oppression: Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity. For they have destroyed the things which thou hast made: but what has the just man done? His mouth is full of cursing, deceit, and oppression. Under his tongue is mischief and iniquity. His mouth is full of cursing, and deceit, and oppression; under his tongue is mischief and iniquity.
Psalms 10:8He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; In the secret places doth he murder the innocent; His eyes are privily set against the helpless. The sinner hath provoked the Lord according to the multitude of his wrath he will not seek him:He lies in wait near the villages. From ambushes, he murders the innocent. His eyes are secretly set against the helpless. He sitteth in the lurking-places of the villages; in the secret places doth he slay the innocent: his eyes watch for the wretched.
Psalms 10:9He lurketh in secret as a lion in his covert; He lieth in wait to catch the poor: He doth catch the poor, when he draweth him in his net. God is not before his eyes: his ways are filthy at all times. Thy judgments are removed from his sight: he shall rule over all his enemies. He lurks in secret as a lion in his ambush. He lies in wait to catch the helpless. He catches the helpless, when he draws him in his net.He lieth in wait secretly, like a lion in his thicket; he lieth in wait to catch the afflicted: he doth catch the afflicted, drawing him into his net.
Psalms 10:10He croucheth, he boweth down, And the helpless fall by his strong ones. The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven. His eyes look on the poor man: his eyelids examine the sons of men.The helpless are crushed, they collapse, They fall under his strength. He croucheth, he boweth down, that the wretched may fall by his strong ones.
Psalms 10:11He saith in his heart, God hath forgotten; He hideth his face; he will never see it. The Lord trieth the just and the wicked: but he that loveth iniquity hateth his own soul.He says in his heart, "God has forgotten. He hides his face. He will never see it."He saith in his heart, ùGod hath forgotten, he hideth his face, he will never see [it].
Psalms 10:12Arise, O Jehovah; O God, lift up thy hand: Forget not the poor. For he hath said in his heart: I shall not be moved from generation to generation, and shall be without evil.Arise, Yahweh! God, lift up your hand! Don't forget the helpless.Arise, Jehovah; O ùGod, lift up thy hand: forget not the afflicted.
Psalms 10:13Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God, And say in his heart, Thou wilt not require [it]? His mouth is full of cursing, and of bitterness, and of deceit: under his tongue are labour and sorrow. Why does the wicked condemn God, And say in his heart, "God won't call me into account?"Wherefore doth the wicked contemn God? He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require [it].
Psalms 10:14Thou hast seen [it]; for thou beholdest mischief and spite, to requite it with thy hand: The helpless committeth [himself] unto thee; Thou hast been the helper of the fatherless. He shall rain snares upon sinners: fire and brimstone and storms of winds shall be the portion of their cup.But you do see trouble and grief; You consider it to take it into your hand. You help the victim and the fatherless.Thou hast seen [it], for thou thyself beholdest trouble and vexation, to requite by thy hand. The wretched committeth himself unto thee; thou hast been the helper of the fatherless.
Psalms 10:15Break thou the arm of the wicked; And as for the evil man, seek out his wickedness till thou find none. For the Lord is just, and hath loved justice: his countenance hath beheld righteousness.Break the arm of the wicked. As for the evil man, seek out his wickedness until you find none.Break thou the arm of the wicked, and as for the evil man, seek out his wickedness [till] thou find none.
Psalms 10:16Jehovah is King for ever and ever: The nations are perished out of his land. He sitteth in ambush with the rich in private places, that he may kill the innocent.Yahweh is King forever and ever! The nations will perish out of his land.Jehovah is King for ever and ever: the nations have perished out of his land.
Psalms 10:17Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek: Thou wilt prepare their heart, thou wilt cause thine ear to hear; His eyes are upon the poor man: He lieth in wait in secret like a lion in his den. He lieth in ambush that he may catch the poor man: to catch the poor, whilst he draweth him to him.Yahweh, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will prepare their heart. You will cause your ear to hear,Jehovah, thou hast heard the desire of the meek, thou hast established their heart: thou causest thine ear to hear,
Psalms 10:18To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, That man who is of the earth may be terrible no more. Psalm 11 For the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David. In his net he will bring him down, he will crouch and fall, when he shall have power over the poor.To judge the fatherless and the oppressed, That man who is of the earth may terrify no more. Psalm 11 For the Chief Musician. By David. To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed one, that the man of the earth may terrify no more.
