Psalms 76:1In Judah is God known: His name is great in Israel. Unto the end, for Idithun, a psalm of Asaph. To the Overseer with stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. In Judah [is] God known, in Israel His name [is] great. In Judah, God is known. His name is great in Israel.
Psalms 76:2In Salem also is his tabernacle, And his dwelling-place in Zion. I cried to the Lord with my voice; to God with my voice, and he gave ear to me.And His tabernacle is in Salem, And His habitation in Zion. His tent is also in Salem; His dwelling-place in Zion.
Psalms 76:3There he brake the arrows of the bow; The shield, and the sword, and the battle. Selah In the day of my trouble I sought God, with my hands lifted up to him in the night, and I was not deceived. My soul refused to be comforted:There he hath shivered arrows of a bow, Shield, and sword, and battle. Selah. There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow, The shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war. Selah.
Psalms 76:4Glorious art thou [and] excellent, From the mountains of prey. I remembered God, and was delighted, and was exercised, and my spirit swooned away.Bright [art] Thou, honourable above hills of prey.Glorious are you, and excellent, More than mountains of game.
Psalms 76:5The stouthearted are made a spoil, They have slept their sleep; And none of the men of might have found their hands. My eyes prevented the watches: I was troubled, and I spoke not.Spoiled themselves have the mighty of heart, They have slept their sleep, And none of the men of might found their hands.Valiant men lie plundered, They have slept their last sleep. None of the men of war can lift their hands.
Psalms 76:6At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep. I thought upon the days of old: and I had in my mind the eternal years. From Thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, Both rider and horse have been fast asleep. At your rebuke, God of Jacob, Both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep.
Psalms 76:7Thou, even thou, art to be feared; And who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry? And I meditated in the night with my own heart: and I was exercised and I swept my spirit.Thou, fearful [art] Thou, And who doth stand before Thee, Since Thou hast been angry! You, even you, are to be feared. Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?
Psalms 76:8Thou didst cause sentence to be heard from heaven; The earth feared, and was still, Will God then cast off for ever? or will he never be more favourable again? From heaven Thou hast sounded judgment, Earth hath feared, and hath been still,You pronounced judgment from heaven. The earth feared, and was silent,
Psalms 76:9When God arose to judgment, To save all the meek of the earth. Selah Or will he cut off his mercy for ever, from generation to generation? In the rising of God to judgment, To save all the humble of earth. Selah. When God arose to judgment, To save all the afflicted ones of the earth. Selah.
Psalms 76:10Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: The residue of wrath shalt thou gird upon thee. Or will God forget to shew mercy? or will he in his anger shut up his mercies? For the fierceness of man praiseth Thee, The remnant of fierceness Thou girdest on.Surely the wrath of man praises you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained.
Psalms 76:11Vow, and pay unto Jehovah your God: Let all that are round about him bring presents unto him that ought to be feared. And I said, Now have I begun: this is the change of the right hand of the most High.Vow and complete to Jehovah your God, All ye surrounding him. They bring presents to the Fearful One.Make vows to Yahweh your God, and fulfill them! Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.
Psalms 76:12He will cut off the spirit of princes: He is terrible to the kings of the earth. Psalm 77 For the Chief Musician; after the manner of Jeduthan. A Psalm of Asaph. I remembered the works of the Lord: for I will be mindful of thy wonders from the beginning. He doth gather the spirit of leaders, Fearful to the kings of earth! He will cut off the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth. Psalm 77 For the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm by Asaph.
