Psalms 48:5They saw it, then were they amazed; They were dismayed, they hasted away. They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.I will incline my ear to a parable; I will open my proposition on the psaltery. They saw it, and so were full of wonder; they were troubled, and went quickly away in fear.
Psalms 48:6Trembling took hold of them there, Pain, as of a woman in travail. Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail. Why shall I fear in the evil day? the iniquity of my heel shall encompass me.Shaking came on them and pain, as on a woman in childbirth.
Psalms 48:7With the east wind Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish. Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind. They that trust in their own strength, and glory in the multitude of their riches,By you the ships of Tarshish are broken as by an east wind.
Psalms 48:8As we have heard, so have we seen In the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah. No brother can redeem, nor shall man redeem: he shall not give to God his ransom,As it came to our ears so have we seen it, in the town of the Lord of armies, in the town of our God; God will keep it fixed for ever. (Selah.)
Psalms 48:9We have thought on thy lovingkindness, O God, In the midst of thy temple. We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.Nor the price of the redemption of his soul: and shall labour for ever,Our thoughts were of your mercy, O God, while we were in your Temple.
Psalms 48:10As is thy name, O God, So is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: Thy right hand is full of righteousness. Psalms 48:13Mark ye well her bulwarks; Consider her palaces: That ye may tell it to the generation following. Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following. And man when he was in honour did not understand; he is compared to senseless beasts, and is become like to them.Take note of its strong walls, looking well at its fair buildings; so that you may give word of it to the generation which comes after.
