| Psalms 34:1 | I will bless Jehovah at all times: His praise shall continually be in my mouth. | | {[A Psalm] of David; when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.} I will bless Jehovah at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. | For David himself. Judge thou, O Lord, them that wrong me : overthrow them that fight against me. |
| Psalms 34:2 | My soul shall make her boast in Jehovah: The meek shall hear thereof, and be glad. | | My soul shall make its boast in Jehovah: the meek shall hear, and rejoice. | Take hold of arms and shield : and rise up to help me. |
| Psalms 34:3 | Oh magnify Jehovah with me, And let us exalt his name together. | | Magnify Jehovah with me, and let us exalt his name together. | Bring out the sword, and shut up the way against them that persecute me : say to my soul : I am thy salvation. |
| Psalms 34:4 | I sought Jehovah, and he answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. | | I sought Jehovah, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears. | Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded that devise against me. |
| Psalms 34:5 | They looked unto him, and were radiant; And their faces shall never be confounded. | | They looked unto him, and were enlightened, and their faces were not confounded. | Let them become as dust before the wind : and let the angel of the Lord straiten them. |
| Psalms 34:6 | This poor man cried, and Jehovah heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. | | This afflicted one called, and Jehovah heard [him], and saved him out of all his troubles. | Let their way become dark and slippery; and let the angel of the Lord pursue them. |
| Psalms 34:7 | The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, And delivereth them. | | The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. | For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction : without cause they have upbraided my soul. |
| Psalms 34:8 | Oh taste and see that Jehovah is good: Blessed is the man that taketh refuge in him. | | Taste and see that Jehovah is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him! | Let the snare which he knoweth not come upon him : and let the net which he hath hidden catch him : and let the net which he hath hidden catch him : and into that very snare let them fall. |
| Psalms 34:9 | Oh fear Jehovah, ye his saints; For there is no want to them that fear him. | | Fear Jehovah, ye his saints; for there is no want to them that fear him. | But my soul shall rejoice in the Lord; and shall be delighted in his salvation. |
| Psalms 34:10 | The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger; But they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good thing. | | The young lions are in need and suffer hunger; but they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good. | All my bones shall say : Lord, who is like to thee? Who deliverest the poor from the hand of them that are stronger than he; the needy and the poor from them that strip him. |
| Psalms 34:11 | Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Jehovah. | | Come, ye sons, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Jehovah. | Unjust witnesses rising up have asked me things I knew not. |
| Psalms 34:12 | What man is he that desireth life, And loveth [many] days, that he may see good? | | What man is he that desireth life, [and] loveth days, that he may see good? | They repaid me evil for good : to the depriving me of my soul. |
| Psalms 34:13 | Keep thy tongue from evil, And thy lips from speaking guile. | | Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile; | But as for me, when they were troublesome to me, I was clothed with haircloth. I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom. |
| Psalms 34:14 | Depart from evil, and do good; Seek peace, and pursue it. | | Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. | As a neighbour and as an own brother, so did I please : as one mourning and sorrowful so was I humbled. |
| Psalms 34:15 | The eyes of Jehovah are toward the righteous, And his ears are [open] unto their cry. | | The eyes of Jehovah are upon the righteous, and his ears are toward their cry; | But they rejoiced against me, and came together : scourges were gathered together upon me, and I knew not. |
| Psalms 34:16 | The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. | | The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth: | They were separated, and repented not : they tempted me, they scoffed at me with scorn : they gnashed upon me with their teeth. |
| Psalms 34:17 | [The righteous] cried, and Jehovah heard, And delivered them out of all their troubles. | | [The righteous] cry, and Jehovah heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. | Lord, when wilt thou look upon me? rescue thou soul from their malice : my only one from the lions. |
| Psalms 34:18 | Jehovah is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart, And saveth such as are of a contrite spirit. | | Jehovah is nigh to those that are of a broken heart, and saveth them that are of a contrite spirit. | I will give thanks to thee in a great church; I will praise thee in a strong people. |
| Psalms 34:19 | Many are the afflictions of the righteous; But Jehovah delivereth him out of them all. | | Many are the adversities of the righteous, but Jehovah delivereth him out of them all: | Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me : who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes. |
| Psalms 34:20 | He keepeth all his bones: Not one of them is broken. | | He keepeth all his bones; not one of them is broken. | For they spoke indeed peaceably to me; and speaking in the anger of the earth they devised guile. |
| Psalms 34:21 | Evil shall slay the wicked; And they that hate the righteous shall be condemned. | | Evil shall destroy the wicked; and they that hate the righteous shall bear their guilt. | And they opened their mouth wide against me; they said : Well done, well done, our eyes have seen it. |
| Psalms 34:22 | Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants; And none of them that take refuge in him shall be condemned. Psalm 35 [A Psalm] of David. | | Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants; and none of them that trust in him shall bear guilt. | Thou hast seen, O Lord, be not thou silent : O Lord, depart not from me. |
