Psalms 17:1Hear the right, O Jehovah, attend unto my cry; Give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips. A Prayer of David. Hear, O Jehovah, righteousness, attend my cry, Give ear [to] my prayer, without lips of deceit.Unto the end, for David the servant of the Lord, who spoke to the Lord the words of this canticle, in the day that the Lord delivered him from the hands of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. [2 Kings 22.]
Psalms 17:2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; Let thine eyes look upon equity. From before thee my judgment doth go out; Thine eyes do see uprightly.I will love thee, O Lord, my strength:
Psalms 17:3Thou hast proved my heart; thou hast visited me in the night; Thou hast tried me, and findest nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. Thou hast proved my heart, Thou hast inspected by night, Thou hast tried me, Thou findest nothing; My thoughts pass not over my mouth. The Lord is my firmament, my refuge, and my deliverer. My God is my helper, and in him will I put my trust. My protector and the horn of my salvation, and my support.
Psalms 17:4As for the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept me from the ways of the violent. As to doings of man, Through a word of Thy lips I have observed The paths of a destroyer;Praising I will call upon the Lord: and I shall be saved from my enemies.
Psalms 17:5My steps have held fast to thy paths, My feet have not slipped. To uphold my goings in Thy paths, My steps have not slidden. The sorrows of death surrounded me: and the torrents of iniquity troubled me.
Psalms 17:6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt answer me, O God: Incline thine ear unto me, [and] hear my speech. I I called Thee, for Thou dost answer me, O God, incline Thine ear to me, hear my speech. The sorrows of hell encompassed me: and the snares of death prevented me.
Psalms 17:7Show thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them that take refuge [in thee ]From those that rise up [against them]. Separate wonderfully Thy kindness, O Saviour of the confiding, By Thy right hand, from withstanders. In my affliction I called upon the Lord, and I cried to my God: And he heard my voice from his holy temple: and my cry before him came into his ears.
Psalms 17:8Keep me as the apple of the eye; Hide me under the shadow of thy wings, Keep me as the apple, the daughter of the eye; In shadow of Thy wings thou dost hide me.The earth shook and trembled: the foundations of the mountains were troubled and were moved, because he was angry with them.
Psalms 17:9From the wicked that oppress me, My deadly enemies, that compass me about. From the face of the wicked who spoiled me. Mine enemies in soul go round against me.There went up a smoke in his wrath: and a fire flamed from his face: coals were kindled by it.
Psalms 17:10They are inclosed in their own fat: With their mouth they speak proudly. Their fat they have closed up, Their mouths have spoken with pride:He bowed the heavens, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
Psalms 17:11They have now compassed us in our steps; They set their eyes to cast [us] down to the earth. `Our steps now have compassed [him];` Their eyes they set to turn aside in the land. And he ascended upon the cherubim, and he flew; he flew upon the wings of the winds.
Psalms 17:12He is like a lion that is greedy of his prey, And as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. His likeness as a lion desirous to tear, As a young lion dwelling in secret places. And he made darkness his covert, his pavilion round about him: dark waters in the clouds of the air.
Psalms 17:13Arise, O Jehovah, Confront him, cast him down: Deliver my soul from the wicked by thy sword; Arise, O Jehovah, go before his face, Cause him to bend. Deliver my soul from the wicked, Thy sword,At the brightness that was before him the clouds passed, hail and coals of fire.
Psalms 17:14From men by thy hand, O Jehovah, From men of the world, whose portion is in [this] life, And whose belly thou fillest with thy treasure: They are satisfied with children, And leave the rest of their substance to their babes. From men, Thy hand, O Jehovah, From men of the world, their portion [is] in life, And [with] Thy hidden things Thou fillest their belly, They are satisfied [with] sons; And have left their abundance to their sucklings. And the Lord thundered from heaven, and the highest gave his voice: hail and coals of fire.
Psalms 17:15As for me, I shall behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with [beholding] thy form. Psalm 18 For the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the servant of Jehovah, who spake unto Jehovah the words of this song in the day that Jehovah delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul: and he said, I in righteousness, I see Thy face; I am satisfied, in awaking, [with] Thy form! And he sent forth his arrows, and he scattered them: he multiplied lightnings, and troubled them.
