Job 6:1Then Job answered and said, And Job answereth and saith:And Job made answer and said,But Job answered, and said:
Job 6:2Oh that my vexation were but weighed, And all my calamity laid in the balances! O that my provocation were thoroughly weighed, And my calamity in balances They would lift up together! If only my passion might be measured, and put into the scales against my trouble!O that my sins, whereby I have deserved wrath, and the calamity that I suffer, were weighed in a balance.
Job 6:3For now it would be heavier than the sand of the seas: Therefore have my words been rash. For now, than the sands of the sea it is heavier, Therefore my words have been rash. For then its weight would be more than the sand of the seas: because of this my words have been uncontrolled. As the sand of the sea this would appear heavier: therefore my words are full of sorrow :
Job 6:4For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, The poison whereof my spirit drinketh up: The terrors of God do set themselves in array against me. For arrows of the Mighty [are] with me, Whose poison is drinking up my spirit. Terrors of God array themselves [for] me!For the arrows of the Ruler of all are present with me, and their poison goes deep into my spirit: his army of fears is put in order against me.For the arrows of the Lord are in me, the rage whereof drinketh up my spirit, and the terrors of the Lord war against me.
Job 6:5Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? Or loweth the ox over his fodder? Brayeth a wild ass over tender grass? Loweth an ox over his provender?Does the ass of the fields give out his voice when he has grass? or does the ox make sounds over his food? Will the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or will the ox low when he standeth before a full manger?
Job 6:6Can that which hath no savor be eaten without salt? Or is there any taste in the white of an egg? Eaten is an insipid thing without salt? Is there sense in the drivel of dreams? Will a man take food which has no taste without salt? or is there any taste in the soft substance of purslain?Or can an unsavoury thing be eaten, that is not seasoned with salt? or can a man taste that which when tasted bringeth death?
Job 6:7My soul refuseth to touch [them]; They are as loathsome food to me. My soul is refusing to touch! They [are] as my sickening food.My soul has no desire for such things, they are as disease in my food. The things which before my soul would not touch, now, through anguish are my meats.
Job 6:8Oh that I might have my request; And that God would grant [me] the thing that I long for! O that my request may come, That God may grant my hope!If only I might have an answer to my prayer, and God would give me my desire!Who will grant that my request may come: and that God may give me what I look for?
Job 6:9Even that it would please God to crush me; That he would let loose his hand, and cut me off! That God would please and bruise me, Loose His hand and cut me off!If only he would be pleased to put an end to me; and would let loose his hand, so that I might be cut off!And that he that hath begun may destroy me, that he may let loose his hand, and cut me off?
Job 6:10And be it still my consolation, Yea, let me exult in pain that spareth not, That I have not denied the words of the Holy One. And yet it is my comfort, (And I exult in pain He doth not spare,) That I have not hidden The sayings of the Holy One.So I would still have comfort, and I would have joy in the pains of death, for I have not been false to the words of the Holy One.And that this may be my comfort, that afflicting me with sorrow, he spare not, nor I contradict the words of the Holy One.
Job 6:11What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is mine end, that I should be patient? What [is] my power that I should hope? And what mine end That I should prolong my life?Have I strength to go on waiting, or have I any end to be looking forward to?For what is my strength, that I can hold out? or what is my end that I should keep patience?
Job 6:12Is my strength the strength of stones? Or is my flesh of brass? Is my strength the strength of stones? Is my flesh brazen? Is my strength the strength of stones, or is my flesh brass? My strength is not the strength of stones, nor is my flesh of brass.
Job 6:13Is it not that I have no help in me, And that wisdom is driven quite from me? Is not my help with me, And substance driven from me?I have no help in myself, and wisdom is completely gone from me.Behold there is no help for me in myself, and my familiar friends also are departed from me.
Job 6:14To him that is ready to faint kindness [should be showed] from his friend; Even to him that forsaketh the fear of the Almighty. To a despiser of his friends [is] shame, And the fear of the Mighty he forsaketh. He whose heart is shut against his friend has given up the fear of the Ruler of all.He that taketh away mercy from his friend, forsaketh the fear of the Lord.
Job 6:15My brethren have dealt deceitfully as a brook, As the channel of brooks that pass away; My brethren have deceived as a brook, As a stream of brooks they pass away.My friends have been false like a stream, like streams in the valleys which come to an end:My brethren have passed by me, as the torrent that passeth swiftly in the valleys.
Job 6:16Which are black by reason of the ice, [And] wherein the snow hideth itself: That are black because of ice, By them doth snow hide itself.Which are dark because of the ice, and the snow falling into them; They that fear the hoary frost, the snow shall fall upon them.
Job 6:17What time they wax warm, they vanish; When it is hot, they are consumed out of their place. By the time they are warm they have been cut off, By its being hot they have been Extinguished from their place.Under the burning sun they are cut off, and come to nothing because of the heat.At the time when they shall be scattered they shall perish: and after it groweth hot they shall be melted out of their place.
Job 6:18The caravans [that travel] by the way of them turn aside; They go up into the waste, and perish. Turn aside do the paths of their way, They ascend into emptiness, and are lost. The camel-trains go out of their way; they go up into the waste and come to destruction. The paths of their steps are entangled: they shall walk in vain, and shall perish.
Job 6:19The caravans of Tema looked, The companies of Sheba waited for them. Passengers of Tema looked expectingly, Travellers of Sheba hoped for them. The camel-trains of Tema were searching with care, the bands of Sheba were waiting for them:Consider the paths of Thema, the ways of Saba, and wait a little while.
Job 6:20They were put to shame because they had hoped; They came thither, and were confounded. They were ashamed that one hath trusted, They have come unto it and are confounded. They were put to shame because of their hope; they came and their hope was gone. They are confounded, because I have hoped: they are come also even unto me, and are covered with shame.
Job 6:21For now ye are nothing; Ye see a terror, and are afraid. Surely now ye have become the same! Ye see a downfall, and are afraid. So have you now become to me; you see my sad condition and are in fear. Now you are come: and now seeing my affliction you are afraid.
Job 6:22Did I say, Give unto me? Or, Offer a present for me of your substance? Is it because I said, Give to me? And, By your power bribe for me?Did I say, Give me something? or, Make a payment for me out of your wealth?Did I say: Bring to me, and give me of your substance?
Job 6:23Or, Deliver me from the adversary's hand? Or, Redeem me from the hand of the oppressors? And, Deliver me from the hand of an adversary? And, From the hand of terrible ones ransom me?Or, Get me out of the power of my hater? or, Give money so that I may be free from the power of the cruel ones?Or deliver me from the hand of the enemy, and rescue me out of the hand of the mighty?
Job 6:24Teach me, and I will hold my peace; And cause me to understand wherein I have erred. Shew me, and I I keep silent, And what I have erred, let me understand.Give me teaching and I will be quiet; and make me see my error.Teach me, and I will hold my peace: and if I have been ignorant in any thing, instruct me.
Job 6:25How forcible are words of uprightness! But your reproof, what doth it reprove? How powerful have been upright sayings, And what doth reproof from you reprove? How pleasing are upright words! but what force is there in your arguments? Why have you detracted the words of truth, whereas there is none of you that can reprove me?
Job 6:26Do ye think to reprove words, Seeing that the speeches of one that is desperate are as wind? For reproof do you reckon words? And for wind sayings of the desperate. My words may seem wrong to you, but the words of him who has no hope are for the wind. You dress up speeches only to rebuke, and you utter words to the wind.
Job 6:27Yea, ye would cast [lots] upon the fatherless, And make merchandise of your friend. Anger on the fatherless ye cause to fall, And are strange to your friend.Truly, you are such as would give up the child of a dead man to his creditors, and would make a profit out of your friend. You rush in upon the fatherless, and you endeavour to overthrow your friend.
Job 6:28Now therefore be pleased to look upon me; For surely I shall not lie to your face. And, now, please, look upon me, Even to your face do I lie?Now then, let your eyes be turned to me, for truly I will not say what is false to your face. However finish what you have begun, give ear, and see whether I lie.
Job 6:29Return, I pray you, let there be no injustice; Yea, return again, my cause is righteous. Turn back, I pray you, let it not be perverseness, Yea, turn back again my righteousness [is] in it.Let your minds be changed, and do not have an evil opinion of me; yes, be changed, for my righteousness is still in me.Answer, I beseech you, without contention: and speaking that which is just, judge ye.
Job 6:30Is there injustice on my tongue? Cannot my taste discern mischievous things? Is there in my tongue perverseness? Discerneth not my palate desirable things? Is there evil in my tongue? is not the cause of my trouble clear to me?And you shall not And iniquity in my tongue, neither shall folly sound in my mouth.
