| 1st-Thessalonians 3:1 | At last our desire to have news of you was so strong that, while we ourselves were waiting at Athens, | Wherefore when we could no longer forbear, we thought it good to be left behind at Athens alone; |
| 1st-Thessalonians 3:2 | We sent Timothy, our brother and God's servant in the good news of Christ, to give you strength and comfort in your faith; | and sent Timothy, our brother and God's minister in the gospel of Christ, to establish you, and to comfort [you] concerning your faith; |
| 1st-Thessalonians 3:3 | So that no man might be moved by these troubles; because you see that these things are part of God's purpose for us. | that no man be moved by these afflictions; for yourselves know that hereunto we are appointed. |
| 1st-Thessalonians 3:4 | And when we were with you, we said to you that trouble was before us; and so it came about, as you see. | For verily, when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we are to suffer affliction; even as it came to pass, and ye know. |
