| Psalms 41:1 | <To the chief music-maker. A Psalm. Of David.> Happy is the man who gives thought to the poor; the Lord will be his saviour in the time of trouble. | Blessed is he that considereth the poor: Jehovah will deliver him in the day of evil. |
| Psalms 41:2 | The Lord will keep him safe, and give him life; the Lord will let him be a blessing on the earth, and will not give him into the hand of his haters. | Jehovah will preserve him, and keep him alive, And he shall be blessed upon the earth; And deliver not thou him unto the will of his enemies. |
| Psalms 41:3 | The Lord will be his support on his bed of pain: by you will all his grief be turned to strength. | Jehovah will support him upon the couch of languishing: Thou makest all his bed in his sickness. |
| Psalms 41:4 | I said, Lord, have mercy on me; make my soul well, because my faith is in you. | I said, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me: Heal my soul; for I have sinned against thee. |
| Psalms 41:5 | My haters say evil against me, When will he be dead, and his name come to an end? | Mine enemies speak evil against me, [saying], When will he die, and his name perish? |
| Psalms 41:6 | If one comes to see me, deceit is in his heart; he keeps a store of evil, which he makes public in every place. | And if he come to see [me], he speaketh falsehood; His heart gathereth iniquity to itself: When he goeth abroad, he telleth it. |
| Psalms 41:7 | All my haters are talking secretly together against me; they are designing my downfall. | All that hate me whisper together against me; Against me do they devise my hurt. |
| Psalms 41:8 | They say, He has an evil disease, which will not let him go: and now that he is down he will not get up again. | An evil disease, [say they], cleaveth fast unto him; And now that he lieth he shall rise up no more. |
| Psalms 41:9 | Even my dearest friend, in whom I had faith, who took bread with me, is turned against me. | Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, Who did eat of my bread, Hath lifted up his heel against me. |
| Psalms 41:10 | But you, O Lord, have mercy on me, lifting me up, so that I may give them their punishment. | But thou, O Jehovah, have mercy upon me, and raise me up, That I may requite them. |
| Psalms 41:11 | By this I see that you have pleasure in me, because my hater does not overcome me. | By this I know that thou delightest in me, Because mine enemy doth not triumph over me. |
| Psalms 41:12 | And as for me, you are my support in my righteousness, giving me a place before your face for ever. | And as for me, thou upholdest me in mine integrity, And settest me before thy face for ever. |
