| Job 30:1 | But now those who are younger than I make sport of me; those whose fathers I would not have put with the dogs of my flocks. | But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to set with the dogs of my flock. | But now the younger in time scorn me, whose fathers I would not have set with the dogs of my flock: | But now they that are younger than I, have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to set with the dogs of my flock. |
| Job 30:2 | Of what use is the strength of their hands to me? all force is gone from them. | Yea, whereto [should] the strength of their hands [profit] me, [men] in whom vigour hath perished? | The strength of whose hands was to me as nothing, and they were thought unworthy of life itself. | Yes, to what might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age had perished? |
| Job 30:3 | They are wasted for need of food, biting the dry earth; their only hope of life is in the waste land. | Withered up through want and hunger, they flee into waste places long since desolate and desert: | Barren with want and hunger, who gnawed in the wilderness, disfigured with calamity and misery. | For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste. |
| Job 30:4 | They are pulling off the salt leaves from the brushwood, and making a meal of roots. | They gather the salt-wort among the bushes, and the roots of the broom for their food. | And they ate grass, and barks of trees, and the root of junipers was their food. | Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots for their food. |
| Job 30:5 | They are sent out from among their townsmen, men are crying after them as thieves | They are driven forth from among [men] they cry after them as after a thief | Who snatched up these things out of the valleys, and when they had found any of them, they ran to them with a cry. | They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them, as after a thief;) |
| Job 30:6 | They have to get a resting-place in the hollows of the valleys, in holes of the earth and rocks. | To dwell in gloomy gorges, in caves of the earth and the rocks: | They dwelt in the desert places of torrents, and in caves of earth, or upon the gravel. | To dwell in the clefts of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks. |
| Job 30:7 | They make noises like asses among the brushwood; they get together under the thorns. | They bray among the bushes; under the brambles they are gathered together: | They pleased themselves among these kind of things, and counted it delightful to be under the briers. | Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were collected. |
| Job 30:8 | They are sons of shame, and of men without a name, who have been forced out of the land. | Sons of fools, and sons of nameless sires, they are driven out of the land. | The children of foolish and base men, and not appearing at all upon the earth. | They were children of fools, yes, children of base men: they were viler than the earth. |
| Job 30:9 | And now I have become their song, and I am a word of shame to them. | And now I am their song, yea, I am their byword. | Now I am turned into their song, and am become their byword. | And now I am their song, yes, I am their by-word. |
| Job 30:10 | I am disgusting to them; they keep away from me, and put marks of shame on me. | They abhor me, they stand aloof from me, yea, they spare not to spit in my face. | They abhor me, and flee far from me, and are not afraid to spit in my face. | They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face. |
| Job 30:11 | For he has made loose the cord of my bow, and put me to shame; he has sent down my flag to the earth before me. | For he hath loosed my cord and afflicted me; so they cast off the bridle before me. | For he hath opened his quiver, and hath afflicted me, and hath put a bridle into my mouth. | Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me. |
| Job 30:12 | The lines of his men of war put themselves in order, and make high their ways of destruction against me: | At [my] right hand rise the young brood; they push away my feet, and raise up against me their pernicious ways; | At the right hand of my rising, my calamities forthwith arose: they have overthrown my feet, and have overwhelmed me with their paths as with waves. | Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction. |
| Job 30:13 | They have made waste my roads, with a view to my destruction; his bowmen come round about me; | They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, without any to help them; | They have destroyed my ways, they have lain in wait against me, and they have prevailed, and there was none to help. | They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper. |
| Job 30:14 | As through a wide broken place in the wall they come on, I am overturned by the shock of their attack. | They come in as through a wide breach: amid the confusion they roll themselves onward. | They have rushed in upon me, as when a wall is broken, and a gate opened, and have rolled themselves down to my miseries. | They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me. |
| Job 30:15 | Fears have come on me; my hope is gone like the wind, and my well-being like a cloud. | Terrors are turned against me; they pursue mine honour as the wind; and my welfare is passed away like a cloud. | I am brought to nothing: as a wind thou hast taken away my desire: and my prosperity hath passed away like a cloud. | Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud. |
| Job 30:16 | But now my soul is turned to water in me, days of trouble overtake me: | And now my soul is poured out in me; days of affliction have taken hold upon me. | And now my soul fadeth within myself, and the days of affliction possess me. | And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me. |
| Job 30:17 | The flesh is gone from my bones, and they give me no rest; there is no end to my pains. | The night pierceth through my bones [and detacheth them] from me, and my gnawing pains take no rest: | In the night my bone is pierced with sorrows: and they that feed upon me, do not sleep. | My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest. |
| Job 30:18 | With great force he takes a grip of my clothing, pulling me by the neck of my coat. | By their great force they have become my raiment; they bind me about as the collar of my coat. | With the multitude of them my garment is consumed, and they have girded me about, as with the collar of my coat. | By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat. |
| Job 30:19 | Truly God has made me low, even to the earth, and I have become like dust. | He hath cast me into the mire, and I have become like dust and ashes. | I am compared to dirt, and am likened to embers and ashes. | He hath cast me into the mire, and I have become like dust and ashes. |
| Job 30:20 | You give no answer to my cry, and take no note of my prayer. | I cry unto thee, and thou answerest me not; I stand up, and thou lookest at me. | I cry to thee, and thou hearest me not: I stand up, and thou dost not regard me. | I cry to thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me not. |
| Job 30:21 | You have become cruel to me; the strength of your hand is hard on me. | Thou art changed to a cruel one to me; with the strength of thy hand thou pursuest me. | Thou art changed to be cruel toward me, and in the hardness of thy hand thou art against me. | Thou hast become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me. |
| Job 30:22 | Lifting me up, you make me go on the wings of the wind; I am broken up by the storm. | Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to be borne away, and dissolvest my substance. | Thou hast lifted me up, and set me as it were upon the wind, and thou hast mightily dashed me. | Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance. |
| Job 30:23 | For I am certain that you will send me back to death, and to the meeting-place ordered for all living. | For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and into the house of assemblage for all living. | I know that thou wilt deliver me to death, where a house is appointed for every one that liveth. | For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living. |
| Job 30:24 | Has not my hand been stretched out in help to the poor? have I not been a saviour to him in his trouble? | Indeed, no prayer [availeth] when he stretcheth out [his] hand: though they cry when he destroyeth. | But yet thou stretchest not forth thy hand to their consumption: and if they shall fall down thou wilt save. | Yet he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction. |
| Job 30:25 | Have I not been weeping for the crushed? and was not my soul sad for him who was in need? | Did not I weep for him whose days were hard? was not my soul grieved for the needy? | I wept heretofore for him that was afflicted, and my soul had compassion on the poor. | Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor? |
| Job 30:26 | For I was looking for good, and evil came; I was waiting for light, and it became dark. | For I expected good, and there came evil; and I waited for light, but there came darkness. | I expected good things, and evils are come upon me: I waited for light, and darkness broke out. | When I looked for good, then evil came: and when I waited for light, there came darkness. |
| Job 30:27 | My feelings are strongly moved, and give me no rest; days of trouble have overtaken me. | My bowels well up, and rest not; days of affliction have confronted me. | My inner parts have boiled without any rest, the days of affliction have prevented me. | My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction came upon me. |
| Job 30:28 | I go about in dark clothing, uncomforted; I get up in the public place, crying out for help. | I go about blackened, but not by the sun; I stand up, I cry in the congregation. | I went mourning without indignation; I rose up, and cried in the crowd. | I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation. |
| Job 30:29 | I have become a brother to the jackals, and go about in the company of ostriches. | I am become a brother to jackals, and a companion of ostriches. | I was the brother of dragons, and companion of ostriches. | I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls. |
| Job 30:30 | My skin is black and dropping off me; and my bones are burning with the heat of my disease. | My skin is become black [and falleth] off me, and my bones are parched with heat. | My skin is become black upon me, and my bones are dried up with heat. | My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat. |
| Job 30:31 | And my music has been turned to sorrow, and the sound of my pipe into the noise of weeping. | My harp also is [turned] to mourning, and my pipe into the voice of weepers. | My harp is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of those that weep. | My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep. |
