Of Asaph.> O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God.{A Song; a Psalm of Asaph.} O God, keep not silence; hold not thy peace, and be not still, O ùGod:Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core.A Song, A Psalm of Asaph. Psalms 83:2For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads. For behold, thine enemies make a tumult; and they that hate thee lift up the head. How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host! For, lo, Thine enemies do roar, And those hating Thee have lifted up the head,
Psalms 83:3They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place. They take crafty counsel against thy people, and consult against thy hidden ones:my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God.Against Thy people they take crafty counsel, And consult against Thy hidden ones.
Psalms 83:4They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man's memory. They say, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, and let the name of Israel be mentioned no more. For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God.They have said, `Come, And we cut them off from [being] a nation, And the name of Israel is not remembered any more.`
Psalms 83:5For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you:For they have consulted together with one heart: they have made an alliance together against thee.Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever. For they consulted in heart together, Against Thee a covenant they make,
Psalms 83:6The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites; The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites;Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps,Tents of Edom, and Ishmaelites, Moab, and the Hagarenes,
Psalms 83:7Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre;Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre;in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set.Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with inhabitants of Tyre,
Psalms 83:8Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.)Asshur also is joined with them: they are an arm to the sons of Lot. Selah. For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.Asshur also is joined with them, They have been an arm to sons of Lot. Selah.
Psalms 83:9Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon:Do unto them as to Midian; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the torrent of Kishon:O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.Do to them as [to] Midian, As [to] Sisera, as [to] Jabin, at the stream Kishon.
Psalms 83:10Who came to destruction at En-dor; their bodies became dust and waste.Who were destroyed at Endor; they became as dung for the ground.Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ. They were destroyed at Endor, They were dung for the ground!
Psalms 83:11Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna:Make their nobles as Oreb and as Zeeb; and all their chiefs as Zebah and as Zalmunna. For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners.Make their nobles as Oreb and as Zeeb, And as Zebah and Zalmunna all their princes,
Psalms 83:12Who have said, Let us take for our heritage the resting-place of God.For they have said, Let us take to ourselves God's dwelling-places in possession. For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory.Who have said, `Let us occupy for ourselves The comely places of God.`
Psalms 83:13O my God, make them like the rolling dust; like dry stems before the wind.O my God, make them like a whirling thing, like stubble before the wind.He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence : O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.O my God, make them as a rolling thing, As stubble before wind.
Psalms 83:14As fire burning a wood, and as a flame causing fire on the mountains,As fire burneth a forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire,As a fire doth burn a forest, And as a flame setteth hills on fire,
Psalms 83:15So go after them with your strong wind, and let them be full of fear because of your storm. So pursue them with thy tempest, and terrify them with thy whirlwind. So dost Thou pursue them with Thy whirlwind, And with Thy hurricane troublest them.
Psalms 83:16Let their faces be full of shame; so that they may give honour to your name, O Lord.Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Jehovah.Fill their faces [with] shame, And they seek Thy name, O Jehovah.
Psalms 83:17Let them be overcome and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and come to destruction;Let them be put to shame and be dismayed for ever, and let them be confounded and perish:They are ashamed and troubled for ever, Yea, they are confounded and lost.
Psalms 83:18So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth. That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth. And they know that Thou (Thy name [is] Jehovah by Thyself,) [Art] the Most High over all the earth!
