2nd-Timothy 2:1So then, my child, be strong in the grace which is in Christ Jesus.Thou therefore, my child, be strong in the grace which [is] in Christ Jesus. You then, my child, must be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2nd-Timothy 2:2And the things which I have said to you before a number of witnesses, give to those of the faith, so that they may be teachers of others. And the things thou hast heard of me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, such as shall be competent to instruct others also. All that you have been taught by me in the hearing of many witnesses, you must hand on to trusty men who shall themselves, in turn, be competent to instruct others also. And the things that thou hast heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
2nd-Timothy 2:3Be ready to do without the comforts of life, as one of the army of Christ Jesus.Take thy share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. As a good soldier of Christ Jesus accept your share of suffering.Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
2nd-Timothy 2:4A fighting man, when he is with the army, keeps himself free from the business of this life so that he may be pleasing to him who has taken him into his army.No one going as a soldier entangles himself with the affairs of life, that he may please him who has enlisted him as a soldier.Every one who serves as a soldier keeps himself from becoming entangled in the world's business so that he may satisfy the officer who enlisted him.No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
2nd-Timothy 2:5And if a man takes part in a competition he does not get the crown if he has not kept the rules. And if also any one contend [in the games], he is not crowned unless he contend lawfully. And if any one takes part in an athletic contest, he gets no prize unless he obeys the rules. And if a man also striveth for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he striveth lawfully.
2nd-Timothy 2:6It is right for the worker in the fields to be the first to take of the fruit. The husbandman must labour before partaking of the fruits. The harvestman who labours in the field must be the first to get a share of the crop. The husbandman that laboreth must be first partaker of the fruits.
2nd-Timothy 2:7Give thought to what I say; for the Lord will give you wisdom in all things.Think of what I say, for the Lord will give thee understanding in all things.Mark well what I am saying: the Lord will give you discernment in everything.Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
2nd-Timothy 2:8Keep in mind Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, who came back from the dead, as my good news gives witness:Remember Jesus Christ raised from among [the] dead, of [the] seed of David, according to my glad tidings,Never forget that Jesus Christ has risen from among the dead and is a descendant of David, as is declared in the Good News which I preach.Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
2nd-Timothy 2:9In which I put up with the hardest conditions, even prison chains, like one who has done a crime; but the word of God is not in chains.in which I suffer even unto bonds as an evil-doer: but the word of God is not bound. For preaching the Good News I suffer, and am even put in chains, as if I were a criminal: yet the word of God is not imprisoned. In which I suffer trouble, as an evil-doer, even to bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
2nd-Timothy 2:10But I undergo all things for the saints, so that they may have salvation in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. For this cause I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that *they* also may obtain the salvation which [is] in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. For this reason I endure all things for the sake of God's own people; so that they also may obtain salvation even the salvation which is in Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory. Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
2nd-Timothy 2:11This is a true saying: If we undergo death with him, then will we be living with him:The word [is] faithful; for if we have died together with [him], we shall also live together;Faithful is the saying: "If we died with Him, we shall also live with Him;It is a faithful saying: For if we are dead with him, we shall also live with him:
2nd-Timothy 2:12If we go on to the end, then we will be ruling with him: if we say we have no knowledge of him, then he will say he has no knowledge of us:if we endure, we shall also reign together; if we deny, *he* also will deny us;"If we patiently endure pain, we shall also share His Kingship; "If we disown Him, He will also disown us;If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
2nd-Timothy 2:13If we are without faith, still he keeps faith, for he will never be untrue to himself.if we are unfaithful, *he* abides faithful, for he cannot deny himself."And even if *our* faith fails, He remains true He cannot prove false to Himself."If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
2nd-Timothy 2:14Put these things before them, giving them orders in the name of the Lord to keep themselves from fighting about words, which is of no profit, only causing error in their hearers.Of these things put in remembrance, testifying earnestly before the Lord not to have disputes of words, profitable for nothing, to the subversion of the hearers.Bring all this to men's remembrances, solemnly charging them in the presence of God not to waste time in wrangling about mere words, a course which is altogether unprofitable and tends only to the ruin of the hearers.Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they contend not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
2nd-Timothy 2:15Let it be your care to get the approval of God, as a workman who has no cause for shame, giving the true word in the right way.Strive diligently to present thyself approved to God, a workman that has not to be ashamed, cutting in a straight line the word of truth.Earnestly seek to commend yourself to God as a servant who, because of his straightforward dealing with the word of truth, has no reason to feel any shame.Study to show thyself approved to God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2nd-Timothy 2:16But take no part in wrong and foolish talk, for those who do so will go farther into evil,But profane, vain babblings shun, for they will advance to greater impiety,But from irreligious and frivolous talk hold aloof, for those who indulge in it will proceed from bad to worse in impiety,But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase to more ungodliness.
2nd-Timothy 2:17And their words will be like poisoned wounds in the flesh: such are Hymenaeus and Philetus;and their word will spread as a gangrene; of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;and their teaching will spread like a running sore. Hymenaeus and Philetus are men of that stamp.And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus;
2nd-Timothy 2:18Men whose ideas are all false, who say that the coming back from the dead has even now taken place, overturning the faith of some.[men] who as to the truth have gone astray, saying that the resurrection has taken place already; and overthrow the faith of some.In the matter of the truth they have gone astray, saying that the Resurrection is already past, and so they are overthrowing the faith of some.Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
2nd-Timothy 2:19But God's strong base is unchanging, having this sign, The Lord has knowledge of those who are his: and, Let everyone by whom the name of the Lord is named be turned away from evil.Yet the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, [The] Lord knows those that are his; and, Let every one who names the name of [the] Lord withdraw from iniquity.Yet God's solid foundation stands unmoved, bearing this inscription, "The Lord knows those who really belong to Him." And this also, "Let every one who names the Name of the Lord renounce all wickedness."Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth firm, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
2nd-Timothy 2:20Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but others of wood and earth, and some which are honoured and some without honour. But in a great house there are not only gold and silver vessels, but also wooden and earthen; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. Now in a great house there are not only articles of gold and silver, but also others of wood and of earthenware; and some are for specially honourable, and others for common use.But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor.
2nd-Timothy 2:21If a man makes himself clean from these, he will be a vessel for honour, made holy, ready for the master's use, ready for every good work.If therefore one shall have purified himself from these, [in separating himself from them], he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified, serviceable to the Master, prepared for every good work.If therefore a man keeps himself clear of these latter, he himself will be for specially honourable use, consecrated, fit for the Master's service, and fully equipped for every good work.If a man therefore will cleanse himself from these, he will be a vessel to honor, sanctified and meet for the master's use, and prepared to every good work.
2nd-Timothy 2:22But keep yourself from those desires of the flesh which are strong when the body is young, and go after righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those whose prayers go up to the Lord from a clean heart. But youthful lusts flee, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with those that call upon the Lord out of a pure heart.Keep a strong curb, however, on your youthful cravings; and strive for integrity, good faith, love, peace, in company with all who pray to the Lord with pure hearts.Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2nd-Timothy 2:23And put away foolish and uncontrolled questionings, seeing that they are a cause of trouble. But foolish and senseless questionings avoid, knowing that they beget contentions. But avoid foolish discussions with ignorant men, knowing as you do that these lead to quarrels; But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they gender contentions.
2nd-Timothy 2:24For it is not right for the Lord's servant to make trouble, but he is to be gentle to all, ready in teaching, putting up with wrong,And a bondman of [the] Lord ought not to contend, but be gentle towards all; apt to teach; forbearing;and a bondservant of the Lord must not quarrel, but must be inoffensive towards all men, a skilful teacher, and patient under wrongs. And the servant of the Lord must not contend; but be gentle to all men, apt to teach, patient,
2nd-Timothy 2:25Gently guiding those who go against the teaching; if by chance God may give them a change of heart and true knowledge,in meekness setting right those who oppose, if God perhaps may sometime give them repentance to acknowledgment of [the] truth,He must speak in a gentle tone when correcting the errors of opponents, in the hope that God will at last give them repentance, for them to come to a full knowledge of the truthIn meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God perhaps will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth:
2nd-Timothy 2:26And so they may get themselves free from the net of the Evil One, being made the prisoners of the Lord's servant, for the purpose of God.and that they may awake up out of the snare of the devil, [who are] taken by him, for *his* will.and recover sober-mindedness and freedom from the Devil's snare, though they are now entrapped by him to do his will. And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
