Psalms 48:1<A Song. A Psalm. Of the sons of Korah.> Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised, in the town of our God, in his holy mountain.{A Song; a Psalm. Of the sons of Korah.} Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the hill of his holiness.A Song, a Psalm, by sons of Korah. Great [is] Jehovah, and praised greatly, In the city of our God His holy hill.A Song and Psalm for the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
Psalms 48:2Beautiful in its high position, the joy of all the earth, is the mountain of Zion, the mountain of God, the town of the great King.Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, [on] the sides of the north, the city of the great King.Beautiful [for] elevation, A joy of all the land, [is] Mount Zion, The sides of the north, the city of a great king.Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
Psalms 48:3In its buildings God is seen to be a high tower.God is known in her palaces as a high fortress.God in her high places is known for a tower.God is known in her palaces for a refuge.
Psalms 48:4For see! the kings came together by agreement, they were joined together.For behold, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together;For, lo, the kings met, they passed by together,For lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.
Psalms 48:5They saw it, and so were full of wonder; they were troubled, and went quickly away in fear.They saw, so they marvelled; they were troubled, they fled in consternation:They have seen so they have marvelled, They have been troubled, they were hastened away.They saw it, and so they wondered; they were troubled, and hasted away.
Psalms 48:6Shaking came on them and pain, as on a woman in childbirth.Trembling took hold upon them there; anguish, as of a woman in travail.Trembling hath seized them there, Pain, as of a travailing woman.Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
Psalms 48:7By you the ships of Tarshish are broken as by an east wind.With an east wind thou hast broken the ships of Tarshish.By an east wind Thou shiverest ships of Tarshish.Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
Psalms 48:8As it came to our ears so have we seen it, in the town of the Lord of armies, in the town of our God; God will keep it fixed for ever. (Selah.)As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God: God doth establish it for ever. Selah.As we have heard, so we have seen, In the city of Jehovah of hosts, In the city of our God, God doth establish her to the age.
