Psalms 88:2Let my prayer come before you; give ear to my cry:Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry;The mercies of the Lord I will sing for ever. I will shew forth thy truth with my mouth to generation and generation.Let my prayer come before thee: incline thy ear to my cry;
Psalms 88:3For my soul is full of evils, and my life has come near to the underworld.For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave.For thou hast said: Mercy shall be built up for ever in the heavens: thy truth shall be prepared in them.For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh to the grave.
Psalms 88:4I am numbered among those who go down into the earth; I have become like a man for whom there is no help:I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:I have made a covenant with my elect: I have sworn to David my servant:I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength:
Psalms 88:5My soul is among the dead, like those in the underworld, to whom you give no more thought; for they are cut off from your care.Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.Thy seed will I settle for ever. And I will build up thy throne unto generation and generation.Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand.
Psalms 88:6You have put me in the lowest deep, even in dark places.Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.The heavens shall confess thy wonders, O Lord: and thy truth in the church of the saints.Thou hast laid me in the lowest pit, in darkness, in the deeps.

Psalms 88:9My eyes are wasting away because of my trouble: Lord, my cry has gone up to you every day, my hands are stretched out to you.Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.O Lord God of hosts, who is like to thee? thou art mighty, O Lord, and thy truth is round about thee.My eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands to thee.
Psalms 88:10Will you do works of wonder for the dead? will the shades come back to give you praise? (Selah.)Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah.Thou rulest the power of the sea: and appeasest the motion of the waves thereof.Wilt thou show wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah.
Psalms 88:11Will the story of your mercy be given in the house of the dead? will news of your faith come to the place of destruction?Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction?Thou hast humbled the proud one, as one that is slain: with the arm of thy strength thou hast scattered thy enemies.Shall thy loving-kindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction?
Psalms 88:12May there be knowledge of your wonders in the dark? or of your righteousness where memory is dead?Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness? Thine are the heavens, and thine is the earth: the world and the fulness thereof thou hast founded:Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?
