| Psalms 73:1 | Truly, God is good to Israel, even to such as are clean in heart. | A Psalm of Asaph. Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart. | Understanding for Asaph. O God, why hast thou cast us off unto the end: why is thy wrath enkindled against the sheep of thy pasture? | Surely God is good to Israel, To those who are pure in heart. |
| Psalms 73:2 | But as for me, my feet had almost gone from under me; I was near to slipping; | But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. | Remember thy congregation, which thou hast possessed from the beginning. The sceptre of thy inheritance which thou hast redeemed: mount Sion in which thou hast dwelt. | But as for me, my feet were almost gone. My steps had nearly slipped. |
| Psalms 73:3 | Because of my envy of the men of pride, when I saw the well-being of the wrongdoers. | For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. | Lift up thy hands against their pride unto the end; see what things the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary. | For I was envious of the arrogant, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked. |
| Psalms 73:4 | For they have no pain; their bodies are fat and strong. | For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm. | And they that hate thee have made their boasts, in the midst of thy solemnity. They have set up their ensigns for signs, | For there are no struggles in their death, But their strength is firm. |
| Psalms 73:5 | They are not in trouble as others are; they have no part in the unhappy fate of men. | They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they afflicted like other men. | and they knew not both in the going out and on the highest top. As with axes in a wood of trees, | They are free from burdens of men, Neither are they plagued like other men. |
| Psalms 73:6 | For this reason pride is round them like a chain; they are clothed with violent behaviour as with a robe. | Therefore pride encompasseth them as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. | they have cut down at once the gates thereof, with axe and hatchet they have brought it down. | Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment. |

In arrogance, they threaten oppression. |

| Psalms 73:10 | For this reason they are full of bread; and water is ever flowing for them. | Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them. | How long, O God, shall the enemy reproach: is the adversary to provoke thy name for ever? | Therefore their people return to them, And they drink up waters of abundance. |

| Psalms 73:12 | Truly, such are the sinners; they do well at all times, and their wealth is increased. | Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches. | But God is our king before ages: he hath wrought salvation in the midst of the earth. | Behold, these are the wicked. Being always at ease, they increase in riches. |
| Psalms 73:13 | As for me, I have made my heart clean to no purpose, washing my hands in righteousness; | Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence. | Thou by thy strength didst make the sea firm: thou didst crush the heads of the dragons in the waters. | Surely in vain I have cleansed my heart, And washed my hands in innocence, |
| Psalms 73:14 | For I have been troubled all the day; every morning have I undergone punishment. | For all the day long have I been afflicted, and chastened every morning. | Thou hast broken the heads of the dragon: thou hast given him to be meat for the people of the Ethiopians. | For all day long have I been plagued, And punished every morning. |
| Psalms 73:15 | If I would make clear what it is like, I would say, You are false to the generation of your children. | If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children. | Thou hast broken up the fountains and the torrents: thou hast dried up the Ethan rivers. | If I had said, "I will speak thus;" Behold, I would have betrayed the generation of your children. |

| Psalms 73:19 | How suddenly are they wasted! fears are the cause of their destruction. | How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors. | Deliver not up to beasts the souls that confess to thee: and forget not to the end the souls of thy poor. | How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors. |
| Psalms 73:20 | As a dream when one is awake, they are ended; they are like an image gone out of mind when sleep is over. | As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou wilt despise their image. | Have regard to thy covenant: for they that are the obscure of the earth have been filled with dwellings of iniquity. | As a dream when one wakes up, So, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies. |
| Psalms 73:21 | My heart was made bitter, and I was pained by the bite of grief: | Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins. | Let not the humble be turned away with confusion: the poor and needy shall praise thy name. | For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart. |
| Psalms 73:22 | As for me, I was foolish, and without knowledge; I was like a beast before you. | So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee. | Arise, O God, judge thy own cause: remember thy reproaches with which the foolish man hath reproached thee all the day. | I was so senseless and ignorant.
