Psalms 72:1<Of Solomon.> Give the king your authority, O God, and your righteousness to the king's son.A Psalm for Solomon. Give the king thy judgments, O God, and thy righteousness to the king's son.God, give the king your justice; Your righteousness to the royal son.A psalm for Asaph. How good is God to Israel, to them that are of a right heart!
Psalms 72:2May he be a judge of your people in righteousness, and make true decisions for the poor.He shall judge thy people with righteousness, and thy poor with judgment. He will judge your people with righteousness, And your poor with justice. But my feet were almost moved; my steps had well nigh slipped.
Psalms 72:3May the mountains give peace to the people, and the hills righteousness. The mountains shall bring peace to the people, and the little hills, by righteousness. The mountains shall bring prosperity to the people; The hills bring the fruit of righteousness.Because I had a zeal on occasion of the wicked, seeing the prosperity of sinners.
Psalms 72:4May he be a judge of the poor among the people, may he give salvation to the children of those who are in need; by him let the violent be crushed. He shall judge the poor of the people, he shall save the children of the needy, and shall break in pieces the oppressor. He will judge the poor of the people. He will save the children of the needy, And will break the oppressor in pieces. For there is no regard to their death, nor is there strength in their stripes.
Psalms 72:5May his life go on as long as the sun and moon, through all generations. They shall fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure, throughout all generations. They shall fear you while the sun endures; And as long as the moon, throughout all generations. They are not in the labour of men: neither shall they be scourged like other men. B Therefore pride hath held them fast: they are covered with their iniquity and their wickedness.
Psalms 72:6May he come down like rain on the cut grass; like showers watering the earth. He shall come down like rain upon the mown grass: as showers that water the earth. He will come down like rain on the mown grass, As showers that water the earth.Their iniquity hath come forth, as it were from fatness: they have passed into the affection of the heart.
Psalms 72:7In his days may the upright do well, living in peace as long as there is a moon in heaven. In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth. In his days, the righteous shall flourish, And abundance of peace, until the moon is no more. They have thought and spoken wickedness: they have spoken iniquity on high.
Psalms 72:8Let his kingdom be from sea to sea, from the River to the ends of the earth. He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth. He shall have dominion also from sea to sea, From the River to the ends of the earth. They have set their mouth against heaven: and their tongue hath passed through the earth.
Psalms 72:9Let those who are against him go down before him; and let his haters be low in the dust. They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him; and his enemies shall lick the dust. Those who dwell in the wilderness shall bow before him. His enemies shall lick the dust. Therefore will my people return here and full days shall be found in them.
Psalms 72:10Let the kings of Tarshish and of the islands come back with offerings; let the kings of Sheba and Seba give of their stores. The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. The kings of Tarshish and of the isles will bring tribute. The kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts. And they said: How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
Psalms 72:11Yes, let all kings go down before him; let all nations be his servants.Yes, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.Yes, all kings shall fall down before him. All nations shall serve him.Behold these are sinners; and yet abounding in the world they have obtained riches.
Psalms 72:12For he will be a saviour to the poor in answer to his cry; and to him who is in need, without a helper. For he shall deliver the needy when he crieth; the poor also, and him that hath no helper. For he will deliver the needy when he cries; The poor, who has no helper. And I said: Then have I in vain justified my heart, and washed my hands among the innocent.
Psalms 72:13He will have pity on the poor, and be the saviour of those who are in need.He shall spare the poor and needy, and shall save the souls of the needy. He will have pity on the poor and needy. He will save the souls of the needy. And I have been scourged all the day; and my chastisement hath been in the mornings.
Psalms 72:14He will keep their souls free from evil designs and violent attacks; and their blood will be of value in his eyes.He shall redeem their soul from deceit and violence: and precious shall be their blood in his sight. He will redeem their soul from oppression and violence. Their blood will be precious in his sight. If I said: I will speak thus; behold I should condemn the generation of thy children.
Psalms 72:15May he have long life, and may gold from Sheba be given to him: may prayers be made for him at all times; may blessings be on him every day.And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised. They shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba. Men shall pray for him continually. They shall bless him all day long.I studied that I might know this thing, it is a labour in my sight:
Psalms 72:16May there be wide-stretching fields of grain in the land, shaking on the top of the mountains, full of fruit like Lebanon: may its stems be unnumbered like the grass of the earth. There shall be a handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains; the fruit of it shall shake like Lebanon: and they of the city shall flourish like grass of the earth. There shall be abundance of grain throughout the land. Its fruit sways like Lebanon. Let it flourish, thriving like the grass of the field.Until I go into the sanctuary of God, and understand concerning their last ends.
Psalms 72:17May his name go on for ever, as long as the sun: may men be blessing themselves by him; may all nations be blessing his name. His name shall endure for ever: his name shall be continued as long as the sun: and men shall be blessed in him: all nations shall call him blessed. His name endures forever. His name continues as long as the sun. Men shall be blessed by him. All nations will call him blessed. But indeed for deceits thou hast put it to them: when they were lifted up thou hast cast them down.
Psalms 72:18Praise be to the Lord God, the God of Israel, the only doer of wonders.Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous things.Praise be to Yahweh God, the God of Israel, Who alone does marvelous deeds. How are they brought to desolation? they have suddenly ceased to be: they have perished by reason of their iniquity.
Psalms 72:19Praise to the glory of his noble name for ever; let all the earth be full of his glory. So be it, So be it.And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and amen.Blessed be his glorious name forever! Let the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and amen.As the dream of them that awake, O Lord; so in thy city thou shalt bring their image to nothing.
Psalms 72:20The prayers of David, the son of Jesse, are ended. <A Psalm. Of Asaph.>The prayers of David the son of Jesse are ended. This ends the prayers by David, the son of Jesse. BOOK III Psalm 73 A Psalm by Asaph. For my heart hath been inflamed, and my reins have been changed:
