Psalms 90:1<A Prayer of Moses, the man of God.> Lord, you have been our resting-place in all generations. The praise of a canticle for David. He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob.A prayer of Moses the man of God. Lord, thou hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.
Psalms 90:2Before the mountains were made, before you had given birth to the earth and the world, before time was, and for ever, you are God.He shall say to the Lord: Thou art my protector, and my refuge: my God, in him will I trust. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.
Psalms 90:3You send man back to his dust; and say, Go back, you children of men.For he hath delivered me from the snare of the hunters: and from the sharp word.Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
Psalms 90:4For to you a thousand years are no more than yesterday when it is past, and like a watch in the night. He will overshadow thee with his shoulders: and under his wings thou shalt trust. For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
Psalms 90:5...His truth shall compass thee with a shield: thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night.Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep; in the morning they are like grass which groweth.
Psalms 90:6In the morning it is green; in the evening it is cut down, and becomes dry.Of the arrow that flieth in the day, of the business that walketh about in the dark: of invasion, or of the noonday devil. In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
Psalms 90:7We are burned up by the heat of your passion, and troubled by your wrath.A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand: but it shall not come nigh thee. For we are consumed by thy anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
Psalms 90:8You have put our evil doings before you, our secret sins in the light of your face. But thou shalt consider with thy eyes: and shalt see the reward of the wicked.Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.
Psalms 90:9For all our days have gone by in your wrath; our years come to an end like a breath.Because thou, O Lord, art my hope: thou hast made the most High thy refuge. For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years, as a tale that is told.
Psalms 90:10The measure of our life is seventy years; and if through strength it may be eighty years, its pride is only trouble and sorrow, for it comes to an end and we are quickly gone. There shall no evil come to thee: nor shall the scourge come near thy dwelling. The days of our years are seventy years; and if by reason of strength they are eighty years, yet is their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Psalms 90:11Who has knowledge of the power of your wrath, or who takes note of the weight of your passion? For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways.Who knoweth the power of thy anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath.
Psalms 90:12So give us knowledge of the number of our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom. In their hands they shall bear thee up: lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.
Psalms 90:13Come back, O Lord; how long? let your purpose for your servants be changed.Thou shalt walk upon the asp and the basilisk: and thou shalt trample under foot the lion and the dragon.Return, O LORD, how long? and repent thou concerning thy servants.
Psalms 90:14In the morning give us your mercy in full measure; so that we may have joy and delight all our days.Because he hoped in me I will deliver him: I will protect him because he hath known my name.O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Psalms 90:15Make us glad in reward for the days of our sorrow, and for the years in which we have seen evil.He shall cry to me, and I will hear him: I am with him in tribulation, I will deliver him, and I will glorify him.Make us glad according to the days in which thou hast afflicted us, and the years in which we have seen evil.
Psalms 90:16Make your work clear to your servants, and your glory to their children.I will fill him with length of days; and I will shew him my salvation.Let thy work appear to thy servants, and thy glory to their children.
Psalms 90:17Let the pleasure of the Lord our God be on us: O Lord, give strength to the work of our hands. And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yes, the work of our hands establish thou it.
