2nd-Chronicles 18:1Now Jehoshaphat had great wealth and honour, and his son was married to Ahab's daughter. And Jehoshaphat hath riches and honour in abundance, and joineth affinity to Ahab,Now Josaphat was rich and very glorious, and was joined by affinity to Achab. Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honor in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab.
2nd-Chronicles 18:2And after some years he went down to Samaria to see Ahab. And Ahab made a feast for him and the people who were with him, putting to death great numbers of sheep and oxen; and he got Jehoshaphat to go with him to Ramoth-gilead.and goeth down at the end of [certain] years unto Ahab to Samaria, and Ahab sacrificeth for him sheep and oxen in abundance, and for the people who [are] with him, and persuadeth him to go up unto Ramoth-Gilead.And he went down to him after some years to Samaria: and Achab at his coming killed sheep and oxen in abundance for him and the people that came with him: and he persuaded him to go up to Ramoth Galaad. And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramoth-gilead.
2nd-Chronicles 18:3For Ahab, king of Israel, said to Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he said, I am as you are, and my people as your people; we will be with you in the war.And Ahab king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, `Dost thou go with me [to] Ramoth-Gilead?` And he saith to him, `As I so thou, and as thy people my people, even with thee in battle.`And Achab king of Israel said to Josaphat king of Juda: Come with me to Ramoth Galaad. And he answered him: Thou art as I am, and my people as thy people, and we will be with thee in the war.And Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramoth-gilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war.
2nd-Chronicles 18:4Then Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Let us now get directions from the Lord. And Jehoshaphat saith unto the king of Israel, `Seek, I pray thee, this day, the word of Jehovah.`And Josaphat said to the king of Israel: Inquire, I beseech thee, at present the word of the Lord. And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, Inquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to-day.
2nd-Chronicles 18:5So the king of Israel got together all the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them, Am I to go to Ramoth-gilead to make war or not? And they said, Go up: for God will give it into the hands of the king. And the king of Israel gathereth the prophets, four hundred men, and saith unto them, `Do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?` And they say, `Go up, and God doth give [it] into the hand of the king.`So the king of Israel gathered together of the prophets four hundred men, and he said to them: Shall we go to Ramoth Galaad to fight, or shall we forbear ? But they said: Go up, and God will deliver it into the king's hand. Therefore the king of Israel collected of prophets four hundred men, and said to them, Shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king's hand.
2nd-Chronicles 18:6But Jehoshaphat said, Is there no other prophet of the Lord here from whom we may get directions? And Jehoshaphat saith, `Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah still, and we seek from him?`And Josaphat said: Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may inquire also of him?But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we may inquire of him?
2nd-Chronicles 18:7And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is still one man by whom we may get directions from the Lord, but I have no love for him, because he has never been a prophet of good to me, but only of evil: he is Micaiah, the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Still one man to seek Jehovah from him, and I I have hated him, for he is not prophesying concerning me of good, but all his days of evil, he [is] Micaiah son of Imlah;` and Jehoshaphat saith, `Let not the king say so.`And the king of Israel said to Josaphat: There is one man, of whom we may ask the will of the Lord: but I hate him, for he never prophesieth good to me, but always evil: and it is Micheas the son of Jemla. And Josaphat said: Speak not thus, O king. And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, by whom we may inquire of the LORD: but I hate him; for he never prophesieth good to me, but always evil: the same is Micaiah the son of Imla. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
2nd-Chronicles 18:8Then the king of Israel sent for one of his unsexed servants and said, Go quickly and come back with Micaiah, the son of Imla. And the king of Israel calleth unto a certain officer, and saith, `Hasten Micaiah son of Imlah.`And the king of Israel called one of the eunuchs, and said to him : Call quickly Micheas the son of Jemla. And the king of Israel called for one of his officers, and said, Bring quickly Micaiah the son of Imla.
2nd-Chronicles 18:9Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, were seated on their seats of authority, dressed in their robes, by the doorway into Samaria; and all the prophets were acting as prophets before them. And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah are sitting, each on his throne, clothed with garments, and they are sitting in a threshing-floor at the opening of the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets are prophesying before them. Now the king of Israel, and Josaphat king of Juda, both sat on their thrones, clothed in royal robes, and they sat in the open court by the gate of Samaria, and all the prophets prophesied before them. And the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah sat each of them on his throne, clothed in their robes, and they sat in a void place at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.
2nd-Chronicles 18:10And Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, made himself iron horns and said, The Lord says, Pushing back the Aramaeans with these, you will put an end to them completely. And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah maketh for himself horns of iron, and saith, `Thus said Jehovah,And Sedecias the son of Chanaana made him horns of iron, and said: Thus saith the Lord: With these shalt thou push Syria, till thou destroy it.And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made him horns of iron, and said, Thus saith the LORD, With these thou shalt push Syria until they shall be consumed.
2nd-Chronicles 18:11And all the prophets said the same thing, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and it will go well for you, for the Lord will give it into the hands of the king. With these thou dost push Aram till thou hast consumed them.` And all the prophets are prophesying so, saying, `Go up [to] Ramath-Gilead and prosper, and Jehovah hath given [it] into the hand of the king.`And all the prophets prophesied in like manner, and said: Go up to Ramoth Galaad, and thou shalt prosper, and the Lord will deliver them into the king's hand. And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, Go up to Ramoth-gilead, and prosper: for the LORD will deliver it into the hand of the king.
2nd-Chronicles 18:12Now the servant who had gone to get Micaiah said to him, See now, all the prophets with one voice are saying good things to the king; so let your words be like theirs, and say good things. And the messenger who hath gone to call for Micaiah hath spoken unto him, saying, `Lo, the words of the prophets one mouth [are] good towards the king, and let, I pray thee, thy word be like one of theirs: and thou hast spoken good.`And the messenger that went to call Micheas, said to him: Behold the words of all the prophets with one mouth declare good to the king: I beseech thee therefore let not thy word disagree with them, and speak thou also good success. And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one consent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.
2nd-Chronicles 18:13And Micaiah said, By the living Lord, whatever the Lord says to me I will say.And Micaiah saith `Jehovah liveth, surely that which my God saith, it I speak.`And Micheas answered him: As the Lord liveth, whatsoever my God shall say to me, that will I speak. And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.
2nd-Chronicles 18:14When he came to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, are we to go to Ramoth-gilead to make war or not? And he said, Go up, and it will go well for you; and they will be given up into your hands. And he cometh in unto the king, and the king saith unto him, `Micaiah, do we go unto Ramoth-Gilead to battle, or do I forbear?` And he saith, `Go ye up, and prosper, and they are given into your hand.`So he came to the king: and the king said to him: Micheas, shall we go to Ramoth Galaad to fight, or forbear? And he answered him: Go up, for all shall succeed prosperously, and the enemies shall be delivered into your hands. And when he had come to the king, the king said to him, Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear? 2nd-Chronicles 18:16Then he said, I saw all Israel wandering on the mountains like sheep without a keeper; and the Lord said, These have no master: let them go back, every man to his house in peace. And he saith, `I have seen all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd, and Jehovah saith, There are no masters to these, they turn back each to his house in peace.`Then he said: I saw all Israel scattered in the mountains, like sheep without a shepherd : and the Lord said: These have no masters: let every man return to his own house in peace. Then he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master; let them return therefore every man to his house in peace.
2nd-Chronicles 18:17And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not say that he would not be a prophet of good to me, but of evil? And the king of Israel saith unto Jehoshaphat, `Did I not say unto thee, He doth not prophesy concerning me good, but rather of evil?`And the king of Israel said to Josaphat: Did I not tell thee that this man would not prophesy me any good, but evil? And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, Did I not tell thee that he would not prophesy good to me, but evil?
2nd-Chronicles 18:18Then he said, Give ear now to the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord seated on his seat of power, and all the army of heaven in their places, at his right hand and at his left. And he saith, `Therefore, hear ye a word of Jehovah: I have seen Jehovah sitting on His throne, and all the host of the heavens standing on His right and His left; Then he said: Hear ye therefore the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on his throne, and all the army of heaven standing by him on the right hand and on the left.Again he said, Therefore hear the word of the LORD; I saw the LORD sitting upon his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left.
2nd-Chronicles 18:19And the Lord said, How may Ahab, king of Israel, be tricked into going up to Ramoth-gilead to his death? And this speaker saith thus, and that speaker thus. And the Lord said: Who shall deceive Achab king of Israel, that he may go up and fall in Ramoth Galaad? And one spoke saying after this manner, and another saying after that manner.

And the Lord said to him, How?And go out doth the spirit, and stand before Jehovah, and saith, I do entice him; and Jehovah saith unto him, With what? There came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said: I will deceive him. And the Lord said to him: By what means wilt thou deceive him? Then there came out a spirit, and stood before the LORD, and said, I will entice him. And the LORD said to him, With what?
2nd-Chronicles 18:21And he said, I will go out and be a spirit of deceit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said, Your trick will have its effect on him: go out and do so.and he saith, I go out, and have become a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of all his prophets. And He saith, Thou dost entice, and also, thou art able; go out and do so.And he answered: I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the Lord said: Thou shalt deceive, and shalt prevail: go out, and do so.And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out and do even so.
2nd-Chronicles 18:22And now, see, the Lord has put a spirit of deceit in the mouth of these prophets of yours; and the Lord has said evil against you. And, now, lo, Jehovah hath put a spirit of falsehood in the mouth of these thy prophets, and Jehovah hath spoken concerning thee evil.`Now therefore behold the Lord hath put a spirit of lying in the mouth of all thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil against thee. Now therefore, behold, the LORD hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of these thy prophets, and the LORD hath spoken evil against thee.
2nd-Chronicles 18:23Then Zedekiah, the son of Chenaanah, came near and gave Micaiah a blow on the side of his face, saying, Where is the spirit of the Lord whose word is in you?And Zedekiah son of Chenaanah cometh nigh, and smiteth Micaiah on the cheek, and saith, `Where [is] this the way the Spirit of Jehovah passed over from me to speak with thee?`And Sedecias the son of Chanaana came, and struck Micheas on the cheek and said: Which way went the spirit of the Lord from me, to speak to thee? Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near, and smote Micaiah upon the cheek, and said, Which way went the spirit of the LORD from me to speak to thee?
2nd-Chronicles 18:24And Micaiah said, Truly, you will see on that day when you go into an inner room to keep yourself safe. And Micaiah saith, `Lo, thou dost see in that day, that thou dost enter into the innermost chamber to be hidden.`And Micheas said :Thou thyself shalt see in that day, when thou shalt go in from chamber to chamber, to hide thyself. And Micaiah said, Behold, thou shalt see on that day when thou shalt go into an inner chamber to hide thyself.

2nd-Chronicles 18:27And Micaiah said, If you come back at all in peace, the Lord has not sent his word by me.And Micaiah saith, `If thou dost certainly return in peace, Jehovah hath not spoken by me;` and he saith, `Hear ye, O peoples, all of them!`And Micheas said: If thou return in peace, the Lord hath not spoken by me. And he said: Hear, all ye people. And Micaiah said, If thou shalt certainly return in peace, then hath not the LORD spoken by me. And he said, Hearken, all ye people.
2nd-Chronicles 18:28So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, went up to Ramoth-gilead.And the king of Israel goeth up, and Jehoshaphat king of Judah, unto Ramoth-Gilead;So the king of Israel and Josaphat king of Juda went up to Ramoth Galaad. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.
2nd-Chronicles 18:29And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will make a change in my clothing, so that I do not seem to be the king, and will go into the fight; but do you put on your robes. And the king of Israel having changed his dress, went to the battle. And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, I will disguise myself, and will go to the battle; but put thou on thy robes. So the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went to the battle.
2nd-Chronicles 18:30Now the king of Aram had given orders to the captains of his war-carriages, saying, Make no attack on small or great, but only on the king of Israel. And the king of Aram hath commanded the heads of the charioteers whom he hath, saying, `Ye do not fight with small or with great, except with the king of Israel by himself.`Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his cavalry, saying: Fight ye not with small, or great, but with the king of Israel only. Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of the chariots that were with him, saying, Fight ye not with small or great, save only with the king of Israel.
2nd-Chronicles 18:31So when the captains of the war-carriages saw Jehoshaphat, they said, It is the king of Israel. And turning about, they came round him, but Jehoshaphat gave a cry, and the Lord came to his help, and God sent them away from him.And it cometh to pass at the heads of the charioteers seeing Jehoshaphat, that they have said, `The king of Israel he is,` and they turn round against him to fight, and Jehoshaphat crieth out, and Jehovah hath helped him, and God enticeth them from him,So when the captains of the cavalry saw Josaphat, they said: This is the king of Israel. And they surrounded him to attack him: but he cried to the Lord, and he helped him, and turned them away from him.And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him; and God moved them to depart from him.
2nd-Chronicles 18:32Now when the captains of the war-carriages saw that he was not the king of Israel, they went back from going after him.yea, it cometh to pass, at the heads of the charioteers seeing that it hath not been the king of Israel they turn back from after him.For when the captains of the cavalry saw, that he was not the king of Israel, they left him.For it came to pass, that when the captains of the chariots perceived that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back again from pursuing him.
2nd-Chronicles 18:33And a certain man sent an arrow from his bow without thought of its direction, and gave the king of Israel a wound where his breastplate was joined to his clothing; so he said to the driver of his war-carriage, Go to one side and take me away out of the army, for I am badly wounded. And a man hath drawn with a bow, in his simplicity, and smiteth the king of Israel between the joinings and the coat of mail, and he saith to the charioteer, `Turn thy hand, and thou hast brought me out of the camp, for I have become sick.`And it happened that one of the people shot an arrow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the neck and the shoulders, and he said to his chariot man: Turn thy hand, and carry me out of the battle, for I am wounded. And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: therefore he said to his chariot-man, Turn thy hand, that thou mayest carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
2nd-Chronicles 18:34But the fight became more violent while the day went on; and the king of Israel was supported in his war-carriage facing the Aramaeans till the evening; and by sundown he was dead. And the battle increaseth on that day, and the king of Israel hath been stayed up in the chariot over-against Aram till the evening, and he dieth at the time of the going in of the sun.And the fight was ended that day: but the king of Israel stood in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening, and died at the sunset. And the battle increased that day: yet the king of Israel supported himself in his chariot against the Syrians until the evening: and about the time of the sun setting he died.
