| Job 16:1 | And Job made answer and said, | And Job answereth and saith: | Then Job answered, and said: | Then Job answered and said, |
| Job 16:2 | Such things have frequently come to my ears: you are comforters who only give trouble. | I have heard many such things, Miserable comforters [are] ye all. | I have often heard such things as these: you are all troublesome comforters. | I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all. |
| Job 16:3 | May words which are like the wind be stopped? or what is troubling you to make answer to them? | Is there an end to words of wind? Or what doth embolden thee that thou answerest? | Shall windy words have no end? or is it any trouble to thee to speak? | Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest? |
| Job 16:4 | It would not be hard for me to say such things if your souls were in my soul's place; joining words together against you, and shaking my head at you: | I also, like you, might speak, If your soul were in my soul`s stead. I might join against you with words, And nod at you with my head. | I also could speak like you: and would God your soul were for my soul. | I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake my head at you. |
| Job 16:5 | I might give you strength with my mouth, and not keep back the comfort of my lips. | I might harden you with my mouth, And the moving of my lips might be sparing. | I would comfort you also with words, and would wag my head over you. | But I would strengthen you with my mouth and the moving of my lips should assuage your grief. |
| Job 16:6 | If I say what is in my mind, my pain becomes no less: and if I keep quiet, how much of it goes from me? | If I speak, my pain is not restrained, And I cease what goeth from me? | I would strengthen you with my mouth, and would move my lips, as sparing you. | Though I speak, my grief is not assuaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased? |
| Job 16:7 | But now he has overcome me with weariness and fear, and I am in the grip of all my trouble. | Only, now, it hath wearied me; Thou hast desolated all my company, | But what shall I do? If I speak, my pain will not rest: and if I hold my peace, it will not depart from me. | But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company. |
| Job 16:8 | It has come up as a witness against me, and the wasting of my flesh makes answer to my face. | And Thou dost loathe me, For a witness it hath been, And rise up against me doth my failure, In my face it testifieth. | But now my sorrow hath oppressed me, and all my limbs are brought to nothing. | And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face. |
| Job 16:9 | I am broken by his wrath, and his hate has gone after me; he has made his teeth sharp against me: my haters are looking on me with cruel eyes; | His anger hath torn, and he hateth me, He hath gnashed at me with his teeth, My adversary sharpeneth his eyes for me. | My wrinkles bear witness against me, and a false speaker riseth up against my face, contradicting me. | He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; my enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me. |
| Job 16:10 | Their mouths are open wide against me; the blows of his bitter words are falling on my face; all of them come together in a mass against me. | They have gaped on me with their mouth, In reproach they have smitten my cheeks, Together against me they set themselves. | He hath gathered together his fury against me, and threatening me he hath gnashed with his teeth upon me: my enemy hath beheld me with terrible eyes. | They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves against me. |
| Job 16:11 | God gives me over to the power of sinners, sending me violently into the hands of evil-doers. | God shutteth me up unto the perverse, And to the hands of the wicked turneth me over. | They have opened their mouths upon me, and reproaching me they have struck me on the cheek, they are filled with my pains. | God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked. |
| Job 16:12 | I was in comfort, but I have been broken up by his hands; he has taken me by the neck, shaking me to bits; he has put me up as a mark for his arrows. | At ease I have been, and he breaketh me, And he hath laid hold on my neck, And he breaketh me in pieces, And he raiseth me to him for a mark. | God hath shut me up with the unjust man, and hath delivered me into the hands of the wicked. | I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark. |

He splitteth my reins, and spareth not, He poureth out to the earth my gall. | I that was formerly so wealthy, am all on a sudden broken to pieces: he hath taken me by my neck, he hath broken me, and hath set me up to be his mark. | His archers encompass me; he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground. |
| Job 16:14 | I am broken with wound after wound; he comes rushing on me like a man of war. | He breaketh me breach upon breach, He runneth upon me as a mighty one. | He hath compassed me round about with his lances, he hath wounded my loins, he hath not spared, and hath poured out my bowels on the earth. | He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant. |
| Job 16:15 | I have made haircloth the clothing of my skin, and my horn is rolled in the dust. | Sackcloth I have sewed on my skin, And have rolled in the dust my horn. | He hath torn me with wound upon wound, he hath rushed in upon me like a giant. | I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust. |
| Job 16:16 | My face is red with weeping, and my eyes are becoming dark; | My face is foul with weeping, And on mine eyelids [is] death-shade. | I have sowed sackcloth upon my skin, and have covered my flesh with ashes. | My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids are the shades of death; |
| Job 16:17 | Though my hands have done no violent acts, and my prayer is clean. | Not for violence in my hands, And my prayer [is] pure. | My face is swollen with weeping, and my eyelids are dim. | Not for any injustice in my hands: also my prayer is pure. |
| Job 16:18 | O earth, let not my blood be covered, and let my cry have no resting-place! | O earth, do not thou cover my blood! And let there not be a place for my cry. | These things have I suffered without the iniquity of my hand, when I offered pure prayers to God. | O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place. |
| Job 16:19 | Even now my witness is in heaven, and the supporter of my cause is on high. | Also, now, lo, in the heavens [is] my witness, And my testifier in the high places. | O earth, cover not thou my blood, neither let my cry find a hiding place in thee. | Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high. |
| Job 16:20 | My friends make sport of me; to God my eyes are weeping, | My interpreter [is] my friend, Unto God hath mine eye dropped: | For behold my witness is in heaven, and he that knoweth my conscience is on high. | My friends scorn me: but my eye poureth out tears to God. |
