| Psalms 38:1 | <A Psalm. Of David. To keep in memory.> O Lord, be not bitter with me in your wrath; let not your hand be on me in the heat of your passion. | A Psalm of David, `To cause to remember.` Jehovah, in Thy wrath reprove me not, Nor in Thy fury chastise me. | Unto the end, for Idithun himself, a canticle of David. | A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. |
| Psalms 38:2 | For your arrows have gone into my flesh, and I am crushed under the weight of your hand. | For Thine arrows have come down on me, And Thou lettest down upon me Thy hand. | I said: I will take heed to my ways : that I sin not with my tongue. I have set guard to my mouth, when the sinner stood against me. | For thy arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand falleth heavy upon me. |
| Psalms 38:3 | My flesh is wasted because of your wrath; and there is no peace in my bones because of my sin. | Soundness is not in my flesh, Because of Thine indignation, Peace is not in my bones because of my sin. | I was dumb, and was humbled, and kept silence from good things : and my sorrow was renewed. | There is no soundness in my flesh because of thy anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. |
| Psalms 38:4 | For my crimes have gone over my head; they are like a great weight which is more than my strength. | For mine iniquities have passed over my head, As a heavy burden too heavy for me. | My heart grew hot within me : and in my meditation a fire shall flame out. | For my iniquities have gone over my head: as a heavy burden they are too heavy for me. |
| Psalms 38:5 | My wounds are poisoned and evil-smelling, because of my foolish behaviour. | Stunk become corrupt have my wounds, Because of my folly. | I spoke with my tongue : O Lord, make me know my end. And what is the number of my days : that I may know what is wanting to me. | My wounds are offensive, and are corrupt because of my foolishness. |
| Psalms 38:6 | I am troubled, I am made low; I go weeping all the day. | I have been bent down, I have been bowed down unto excess, All the day I have gone mourning. | Behold thou hast made my days measurable : and my substance is as nothing before thee. And indeed all things are vanity : every man living. | I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long. |
| Psalms 38:7 | For my body is full of burning; all my flesh is unhealthy. | For my flanks have been full of drought, And soundness is not in my flesh. | Surely man passeth as an image : yea, and he is disquieted in vain. He storeth up : and he knoweth not for whom he shall gather these things. | For my loins are filled with a lothsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh. |

And my neighbours afar off have stood. | Remove thy scourges from me. The strength of thy hand hath made me faint in rebukes: | My lovers and my friends stand aloof from my affliction; and my kinsmen stand afar off. |
| Psalms 38:12 | Those who have a desire to take my life put nets for me; those who are designing my destruction say evil things against me, all the day their minds are full of deceit. | And those seeking my soul lay a snare, And those seeking my evil Have spoken mischievous things, And they do deceits meditate all the day. | thou hast corrected man for iniquity. And thou hast made his soul to waste away like a spider : surely in vain is any man disquieted. | They also that seek after my life lay snares for me: and they that seek my hurt speak mischievous things, and imagine deceits all the day long. |

And as a dumb one who openeth not his mouth. | Hear my prayer, O Lord, and my supplication : give ear to my tears. Be not silent : for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner as all my fathers were. | But I, as a deaf man, heard not; and I was as a dumb man that openeth not his mouth. |

| Psalms 38:16 | I said, Let them not be glad over me; when my foot is moved, let them not be lifted up with pride against me. | When I said, `Lest they rejoice over me, In the slipping of my foot against me they magnified themselves. | | For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should rejoice over me: when my foot slippeth, they magnify themselves against me. |
