Psalms 64:1<To the chief music-maker. A Psalm. Of David.> O God, let the voice of my grief come to your ear: keep my life from the fear of those who are against me.To the Overseer. A Psalm of David. Hear, O God, my voice, in my meditation, From the fear of an enemy Thou keepest my life,To the end, a psalm of David. The canticle of Jeremias and Ezechiel to the people of the captivity, when they began to go out.Hear my voice, God, in my complaint. Preserve my life from fear of the enemy.
Psalms 64:2Keep me safe from the secret purpose of wrongdoers; from the band of the workers of evil;Hidest me from the secret counsel of evil doers, From the tumult of workers of iniquity.A Hymn, O God, becometh thee in Sion: and a vow shall be paid to thee in Jerusalem.Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, From the noisy crowd of the ones doing evil;
Psalms 64:3Who make their tongues sharp like a sword, and whose arrows are pointed, even bitter words;Who sharpened as a sword their tongue, They directed their arrow a bitter word.O hear my prayer: all flesh shall come to thee.Who sharpen their tongue like a sword, And aim their arrows, deadly words,
Psalms 64:4So that in secret they may let loose their arrows at the upright, suddenly and unseen.To shoot in secret places the perfect, Suddenly they shoot him, and fear not.The words of the wicked have prevailed over us: and thou wilt pardon our transgressions.To shoot innocent men from ambushes. They shoot at him suddenly and fearlessly.
Psalms 64:5They make themselves strong in an evil purpose; they make holes for secret nets; they say, Who will see it,They strengthen for themselves an evil thing, They recount of the hiding of snares, They have said, `Who doth look at it?`Blessed is he whom thou hast chosen and taken to thee: he shall dwell in thy courts. We shall be filled with the good things of thy house; holy is thy temple,They encourage themselves in evil plans. They talk about laying snares secretly. They say, "Who will see them?"
Psalms 64:6Or make discovery of our secret purpose? The design is framed with care; and the inner thought of a man, and his heart, is deep.They search out perverse things, `We perfected a searching search,` And the inward part of man, and the heart [are] deep.wonderful in justice. Hear us, O God our saviour, who art the hope of all the ends of the earth, and in the sea afar off.They plot injustice, saying, "We have made a perfect plan!" Surely man's mind and heart are cunning.
Psalms 64:7But God sends out an arrow against them; suddenly they are wounded.And God doth shoot them [with] an arrow, Sudden have been their wounds,Thou who preparest the mountains by thy strength, being girded with power:But God will shoot at them. They will be suddenly struck down with an arrow.
Psalms 64:8The evil of their tongues is the cause of their fall; all those who see them are shaking their heads at them.And they cause him to stumble, Against them [is] their own tongue, Every looker on them fleeth away.who troublest the depth of the sea, the noise of its waves. The Gentiles shall be troubled,Their own tongues shall ruin them. All who see them will shake their heads.
Psalms 64:9And in fear men make public the works of God; and giving thought to his acts they get wisdom.And all men fear, and declare the work of God, And His deed they have considered wisely.and they that dwell in the uttermost borders shall be afraid at thy signs: thou shalt make the outgoings of the morning and of the evening to be joyful.All mankind shall be afraid. They shall declare the work of God, And shall wisely ponder what he has done.
Psalms 64:10The upright will be glad in the Lord and have hope in him; and all the lovers of righteousness will give him glory.The righteous doth rejoice in Jehovah, And hath trusted in Him, And boast themselves do all the upright of heart!Thou hast visited the earth, and hast plentifully watered it; thou hast many ways enriched it. The river of God is filled with water, thou hast prepared their food: for so is its preparation.The righteous shall be glad in Yahweh, And shall take refuge in him. All the upright in heart shall praise him! Psalm 65 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm by David. A song.
