Psalms 83:1<A Song. A Psalm. Of Asaph.> O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God.A Song, A Psalm of Asaph. O God, let there be no silence to Thee, Be not silent, nor be quiet, O God.Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core.God, don't keep silent. Don't keep silent, and don't be still, God.
Psalms 83:2For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads.For, lo, Thine enemies do roar, And those hating Thee have lifted up the head,How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host!For, behold, your enemies are stirred up. Those who hate you have lifted up their heads.
Psalms 83:3They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place.Against Thy people they take crafty counsel, And consult against Thy hidden ones.my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God.They conspire with cunning against your people. They plot against your cherished ones.
Psalms 83:4They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man's memory.They have said, `Come, And we cut them off from [being] a nation, And the name of Israel is not remembered any more.`For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God."Come," they say, "and let us destroy them as a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more."
Psalms 83:5For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you:For they consulted in heart together, Against Thee a covenant they make,Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever.For they have conspired together with one mind. They form an alliance against you.
Psalms 83:6The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites;Tents of Edom, and Ishmaelites, Moab, and the Hagarenes,Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps,The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagrites;
Psalms 83:7Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre;Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with inhabitants of Tyre,in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set.Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Psalms 83:8Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.)Asshur also is joined with them, They have been an arm to sons of Lot. Selah.For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion.Assyria also is joined with them. They have helped the children of Lot. Selah.
Psalms 83:9Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon:Do to them as [to] Midian, As [to] Sisera, as [to] Jabin, at the stream Kishon.O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob.Do to them as you did to Midian, As to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon;
Psalms 83:10Who came to destruction at En-dor; their bodies became dust and waste.They were destroyed at Endor, They were dung for the ground!Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ.Who perished at Endor, Who became as dung for the earth.
Psalms 83:11Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna:Make their nobles as Oreb and as Zeeb, And as Zebah and Zalmunna all their princes,For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners.Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb; Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna;
Psalms 83:12Who have said, Let us take for our heritage the resting-place of God.Who have said, `Let us occupy for ourselves The comely places of God.`For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory.Who said, "Let us take possession Of God's pasturelands."
Psalms 83:13O my God, make them like the rolling dust; like dry stems before the wind.O my God, make them as a rolling thing, As stubble before wind.He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence : O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.My God, make them like tumbleweed; Like chaff before the wind.
Psalms 83:14As fire burning a wood, and as a flame causing fire on the mountains,As a fire doth burn a forest, And as a flame setteth hills on fire,As the fire that burns the forest, As the flame that sets the mountains on fire,
Psalms 83:15So go after them with your strong wind, and let them be full of fear because of your storm.So dost Thou pursue them with Thy whirlwind, And with Thy hurricane troublest them.So pursue them with your tempest, Terrify them with your storm.
Psalms 83:16Let their faces be full of shame; so that they may give honour to your name, O Lord.Fill their faces [with] shame, And they seek Thy name, O Jehovah.Fill their faces with confusion, That they may seek your name, Yahweh.
Psalms 83:17Let them be overcome and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and come to destruction;They are ashamed and troubled for ever, Yea, they are confounded and lost.Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever. Yes, let them be confounded and perish;
Psalms 83:18So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth.And they know that Thou (Thy name [is] Jehovah by Thyself,) [Art] the Most High over all the earth!That they may know that you alone, whose name is Yahweh, Are the Most High over all the earth.
