| Psalms 83:1 | <A Song. A Psalm. Of Asaph.> O God, do not keep quiet: let your lips be open and take no rest, O God. | A Song, A Psalm of Asaph. O God, let there be no silence to Thee, Be not silent, nor be quiet, O God. | Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core. | God, don't keep silent. Don't keep silent, and don't be still, God. |
| Psalms 83:2 | For see! those who make war on you are out of control; your haters are lifting up their heads. | For, lo, Thine enemies do roar, And those hating Thee have lifted up the head, | How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host! | For, behold, your enemies are stirred up. Those who hate you have lifted up their heads. |
| Psalms 83:3 | They have made wise designs against your people, talking together against those whom you keep in a secret place. | Against Thy people they take crafty counsel, And consult against Thy hidden ones. | my soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God. | They conspire with cunning against your people. They plot against your cherished ones. |
| Psalms 83:4 | They have said, Come, let us put an end to them as a nation; so that the name of Israel may go out of man's memory. | They have said, `Come, And we cut them off from [being] a nation, And the name of Israel is not remembered any more.` | For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God. | "Come," they say, "and let us destroy them as a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more." |
| Psalms 83:5 | For they have all come to an agreement; they are all joined together against you: | For they consulted in heart together, Against Thee a covenant they make, | Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever. | For they have conspired together with one mind. They form an alliance against you. |
| Psalms 83:6 | The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagarites; | Tents of Edom, and Ishmaelites, Moab, and the Hagarenes, | Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps, | The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagrites; |
| Psalms 83:7 | Gebal and Ammon and Amalek; the Philistines and the people of Tyre; | Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek, Philistia with inhabitants of Tyre, | in the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set. | Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre; |
| Psalms 83:8 | Assur is joined with them; they have become the support of the children of Lot. (Selah.) | Asshur also is joined with them, They have been an arm to sons of Lot. Selah. | For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion. | Assyria also is joined with them. They have helped the children of Lot. Selah. |
| Psalms 83:9 | Do to them what you did to the Midianites; what you did to Sisera and Jabin, at the stream of Kishon: | Do to them as [to] Midian, As [to] Sisera, as [to] Jabin, at the stream Kishon. | O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. | Do to them as you did to Midian, As to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon; |
| Psalms 83:10 | Who came to destruction at En-dor; their bodies became dust and waste. | They were destroyed at Endor, They were dung for the ground! | Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ. | Who perished at Endor, Who became as dung for the earth. |
| Psalms 83:11 | Make their chiefs like Oreb and Zeeb; and all their rulers like Zebah and Zalmunna: | Make their nobles as Oreb and as Zeeb, And as Zebah and Zalmunna all their princes, | For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners. | Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb; Yes, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna; |
| Psalms 83:12 | Who have said, Let us take for our heritage the resting-place of God. | Who have said, `Let us occupy for ourselves The comely places of God.` | For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory. | Who said, "Let us take possession Of God's pasturelands." |
| Psalms 83:13 | O my God, make them like the rolling dust; like dry stems before the wind. | O my God, make them as a rolling thing, As stubble before wind. | He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence : O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. | My God, make them like tumbleweed; Like chaff before the wind. |
| Psalms 83:14 | As fire burning a wood, and as a flame causing fire on the mountains, | As a fire doth burn a forest, And as a flame setteth hills on fire, | | As the fire that burns the forest, As the flame that sets the mountains on fire, |
| Psalms 83:15 | So go after them with your strong wind, and let them be full of fear because of your storm. | So dost Thou pursue them with Thy whirlwind, And with Thy hurricane troublest them. | | So pursue them with your tempest, Terrify them with your storm. |
| Psalms 83:16 | Let their faces be full of shame; so that they may give honour to your name, O Lord. | Fill their faces [with] shame, And they seek Thy name, O Jehovah. | | Fill their faces with confusion, That they may seek your name, Yahweh. |
| Psalms 83:17 | Let them be overcome and troubled for ever; let them be put to shame and come to destruction; | They are ashamed and troubled for ever, Yea, they are confounded and lost. | | Let them be put to shame and dismayed forever. Yes, let them be confounded and perish; |
| Psalms 83:18 | So that men may see that you only, whose name is Yahweh, are Most High over all the earth. | And they know that Thou (Thy name [is] Jehovah by Thyself,) [Art] the Most High over all the earth! | | That they may know that you alone, whose name is Yahweh, Are the Most High over all the earth. Psalm 84 For the Chief Musician. On an instrument of Gath. A Psalm by the sons of Korah. |
