Psalms 2:1Why are the nations so violently moved, and why are the thoughts of the people so foolish?Why have nations tumultuously assembled? And do peoples meditate vanity?Why do the nations rage, And the peoples plot a vain thing?Why have the Gentiles raged, and the people devised vain things?
Psalms 2:2The kings of the earth have taken their place, and the rulers are fixed in their purpose, against the Lord, and against the king of his selection, saying,Station themselves do kings of the earth, And princes have been united together, Against Jehovah, and against His Messiah:The kings of the earth take a stand, And the rulers take counsel together, Against Yahweh, and against his anointed, saying,The kings of the earth stood up, and the princes met together, against the Lord and against his Christ.
Psalms 2:3Let their chains be broken, and their cords taken from off us.`Let us draw off Their cords, And cast from us Their thick bands.`"Let us break their bonds apart, And cast away their cords from us."Let us break their bonds asunder: and let us cast away their yoke from us.
Psalms 2:4Then he whose seat is in the heavens will be laughing: the Lord will make sport of them.He who is sitting in the heavens doth laugh, The Lord doth mock at them.He who sits in the heavens will laugh. The Lord will have them in derision.He that dwelleth in heaven shall laugh at them: and the Lord shall deride them.
Psalms 2:5Then will his angry words come to their ears, and by his wrath they will be troubled:Then doth He speak unto them in His anger, And in His wrath He doth trouble them:Then he will speak to them in his anger, And terrify them in his wrath:Then shall he speak to them in his anger, and trouble them in his rage.
Psalms 2:6But I have put my king on my holy hill of Zion.`And I I have anointed My King, Upon Zion My holy hill.`"Yet I have set my king on my holy hill of Zion."But I am appointed king by him over Sion his holy mountain, preaching his commandment.
Psalms 2:7I will make clear the Lord's decision: he has said to me, You are my son, this day have I given you being.I declare concerning a statute: Jehovah said unto me, `My Son Thou [art], I to-day have brought thee forth.I will tell of the decree. Yahweh said to me, "You are my son. Today I have become your father.The Lord hath said to me: Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee.
Psalms 2:8Make your request to me, and I will give you the nations for your heritage, and the farthest limits of the earth will be under your hand.Ask of Me and I give nations thy inheritance, And thy possession the ends of earth.Ask of me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance, The uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.Ask of me, and I will give thee the Gentiles for thy inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession.
Psalms 2:9They will be ruled by you with a rod of iron; they will be broken like a potter's vessel.Thou dost rule them with a sceptre of iron, As a vessel of a potter Thou dost crush them.`You shall break them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel."Thou shalt rule them with a rod of iron, and shalt break them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Psalms 2:10So now be wise, you kings: take his teaching, you judges of the earth.And now, O kings, act wisely, Be instructed, O judges of earth,Now therefore be wise, you kings. Be instructed, you judges of the earth.And now, O ye kings, understand: receive instruction, you that judge the earth.
Psalms 2:11Give worship to the Lord with fear, kissing his feet and giving him honour,Serve ye Jehovah with fear, And rejoice with trembling.Serve Yahweh with fear, And rejoice with trembling.Serve ye the Lord with fear: and rejoice unto him with trembling.
Psalms 2:12For fear that he may be angry, causing destruction to come on you, because he is quickly moved to wrath. Happy are all those who put their faith in him.Kiss the Chosen One, lest He be angry, And ye lose the way, When His anger burneth but a little, O the happiness of all trusting in Him!Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and you perish in the way, For his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him. Psalm 3 A Psalm by David, when he fled from Absalom, his son.Embrace discipline, lest at any time the Lord be angry, and you perish from the just way.
