Isaiah 63:1Who is this who comes from Edom, with blood-red robes from Bozrah? he whose clothing is fair, stepping with pride in his great strength? I whose glory is in the right, strong for salvation.`Who [is] this coming from Edom? With dyed garments from Bozrah? This that is honourable in his clothing, Travelling in the abundance of his power?` `I, speaking in righteousness, mighty to save.`
Isaiah 63:2Why is your clothing red, and why are your robes like those of one who is crushing the grapes?`Wherefore [is] thy clothing red? And thy garments as treading in a wine fat?`
Isaiah 63:3I have been crushing the grapes by myself, and of the peoples there was no man with me: in my wrath and in my passion, they were crushed under my feet; and my robes are marked with their life-blood, and all my clothing is red.`A wine-press I have trodden by myself, And of the peoples there is no one with me, And I tread them in mine anger, And I trample them in my fury, Sprinkled is their strength on my garments, And all my clothing I have polluted.
Isaiah 63:4For the day of punishment is in my heart, and the year for the payment of the price for my people has come. For the day of vengeance [is] in my heart, And the year of my redeemed hath come.
Isaiah 63:5And I saw that there was no helper, and I was wondering that no one gave them support: so my arm did the work of salvation, and my wrath was my support. And I look attentively, and there is none helping, And I am astonished that there is none supporting, And give salvation to me doth mine own arm. And my wrath it hath supported me.
Isaiah 63:6And in my passion the peoples were crushed under my feet, and broken in my wrath, and I put down their strength to the earth. And I tread down peoples in mine anger, And I make them drunk in my fury, And I bring down to earth their strength.
Isaiah 63:7I will give news of the mercies of the Lord, and his great acts, even all the things the Lord has done for us, in his great grace to the house of Israel; even all he has done for us in his unnumbered mercies. The kind acts of Jehovah I make mention of, The praises of Jehovah, According to all that Jehovah hath done for us, And the abundance of the goodness to the house of Israel, That He hath done for them, According to His mercies, And according to the abundance of His kind acts.
Isaiah 63:8For he said, Truly they are my people, children who will not be false: so he was their saviour out of all their trouble. And He saith, Only My people they [are], Sons they lie not, and He is to them for a saviour.
Isaiah 63:9It was no sent one or angel, but he himself who was their saviour: in his love and in his pity he took up their cause, and he took them in his arms, caring for them all through the years. In all their distress [He is] no adversary, And the messenger of His presence saved them, In His love and in His pity He redeemed them, And He doth lift them up, And beareth them all the days of old.
Isaiah 63:10But they went against him, causing grief to his holy spirit: so he was turned against them, and made war on them. And they have rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit, And He turneth to them for an enemy, He Himself hath fought against them.
Isaiah 63:11Then the early days came to their minds, the days of Moses his servant: and they said, Where is he who made the keeper of his flock come up from the sea? where is he who put his holy spirit among them,And He remembereth the days of old, Moses his people. Where [is] He who is bringing them up from the sea, The shepherd of his flock? Where [is] He who is putting in its midst His Holy Spirit?
Isaiah 63:12He who made the arm of his glory go at the right hand of Moses, by whom the waters were parted before them, to make himself an eternal name;Leading by the right hand of Moses, the arm of His glory, Cleaving waters from before them, To make to Himself a name age-during.
Isaiah 63:13He who made them go through the deep waters, like a horse in the waste land?Leading them through the depths, As a horse in a plain they stumble not.
Isaiah 63:14Like the cattle which go down into the valley, they went without falling, the spirit of the Lord guiding them: so you went before your people, to make yourself a great name.As a beast into a valley goeth down, The Spirit of Jehovah causeth him to rest, So hast Thou led Thy people, To make to Thyself a glorious name.
Isaiah 63:15Let your eyes be looking down from heaven, from your holy and beautiful house: where is your deep feeling, the working of your power? do not keep back the moving of your pity and your mercies:Look attentively from the heavens, And see from Thy holy and beauteous habitation, Where [is] Thy zeal and Thy might? The multitude of Thy bowels and Thy mercies Towards me have refrained themselves.
Isaiah 63:16For you are our father, though Abraham has no knowledge of us, and Israel gives no thought to us: you, O Lord, are our father; from the earliest days you have taken up our cause. For Thou [art] our Father, For Abraham hath not known us, And Israel doth not acknowledge us, Thou, O Jehovah, [art] our Father, Our redeemer from the age, [is] Thy name.
Isaiah 63:17O Lord, why do you send us wandering from your ways, making our hearts hard, so that we have no fear of you? Come back, because of your servants, the tribes of your heritage. Why causest Thou us to wander, O Jehovah, from Thy ways? Thou hardenest our heart from Thy fear, Turn back for Thy servants` sake, The tribes of Thine inheritance.
Isaiah 63:18Why have evil men gone over your holy place, so that it has been crushed under the feet of our haters? For a little while did Thy holy people possess, Our adversaries have trodden down Thy sanctuary.
Isaiah 63:19We have become as those who were never ruled by you, on whom your name was not named. We have been from of old, Thou hast not ruled over them, Not called is Thy name upon them!
