| Job 17:1 | My breath is corrupt, my days are extinct, the graves are mine. | My spirit is consumed, my days are extinct, The grave is [ready] for me. | My spirit is broken, my days are ended, the last resting-place is ready for me. | My spirit hath been destroyed, My days extinguished graves [are] for me. |
| Job 17:2 | Are there not mockers around me? and doth [not] mine eye abide in their provocation? | Surely there are mockers with me, And mine eye dwelleth upon their provocation. | Truly, those who make sport of me are round about me, and my eyes become dark because of their bitter laughing. | If not mockeries [are] with me. And in their provocations mine eye lodgeth. |
| Job 17:3 | Lay down now [a pledge], be thou surety for me with thyself: who is he that striketh hands with me? | Give now a pledge, be surety for me with thyself; Who is there that will strike hands with me? | Be pleased, now, to be responsible for me to yourself; for there is no other who will put his hand in mine. | Place, I pray Thee, my pledge with Thee; Who is he that striketh hand with me? |
| Job 17:4 | For thou hast hidden their heart from understanding; therefore thou wilt not exalt [them]. | For thou hast hid their heart from understanding: Therefore shalt thou not exalt [them]. | You have kept their hearts from wisdom: for this cause you will not give them honour. | For their heart Thou hast hidden From understanding, Therefore Thou dost not exalt them. |
| Job 17:5 | He that betrayeth friends for a prey even the eyes of his children shall fail. | He that denounceth his friends for a prey, Even the eyes of his children shall fail. | As for him who is false to his friend for a reward, light will be cut off from the eyes of his children. | For a portion he sheweth friendship, And the eyes of his sons are consumed. |
| Job 17:6 | And he hath made me a proverb of the peoples; and I am become one to be spit on in the face. | But he hath made me a byword of the people; And they spit in my face. | He has made me a word of shame to the peoples; I have become a mark for their sport. | And he set me up for a proverb of the peoples, And a wonder before them I am. |
| Job 17:7 | And mine eye is dim by reason of grief, and all my members are as a shadow. | Mine eye also is dim by reason of sorrow, And all my members are as a shadow. | My eyes have become dark because of my pain, and all my body is wasted to a shade. | And dim from sorrow is mine eye, And my members as a shadow all of them. |
| Job 17:8 | Upright men [shall be] astonished at this, and the innocent shall be stirred up against the ungodly; | Upright men shall be astonished at this, And the innocent shall stir up himself against the godless. | The upright are surprised at this, and he who has done no wrong is troubled because of the evil-doers. | Astonished are the upright at this, And the innocent against the profane Stirreth himself up. |
| Job 17:9 | But the righteous shall hold on his way, and he that hath clean hands shall increase in strength. | Yet shall the righteous hold on his way, And he that hath clean hands shall wax stronger and stronger. | Still the upright keeps on his way, and he who has clean hands gets new strength. | And the righteous layeth hold [on] his way, And the clean of hands addeth strength, And dumb are they all. |
| Job 17:10 | But as for you all, pray come on again; and I shall not find one wise man among you. | But as for you all, come on now again; And I shall not find a wise man among you. | But come back, now, all of you, come; and I will not see a wise man among you. | Return, and come in, I pray you, And I find not among you a wise man. |
| Job 17:11 | My days are past, my purposes are broken off, the cherished thoughts of my heart. | My days are past, my purposes are broken off, Even the thoughts of my heart. | My days are past, my purposes are broken off, even the desires of my heart. | My days have passed by, My devices have been broken off, The possessions of my heart! |
| Job 17:12 | They change the night into day; the light [they imagine] near in presence of the darkness. | They change the night into day: The light, [say they], is near unto the darkness. | They are changing night into day; they say, The light is near the dark. | Night for day they appoint, Light [is] near because of darkness. |
| Job 17:13 | If I wait, Sheol is my house; I spread my bed in the darkness: | If I look for Sheol as my house; If I have spread my couch in the darkness; | If I am waiting for the underworld as my house, if I have made my bed in the dark; | If I wait Sheol [is] my house, In darkness I have spread out my couch. |
| Job 17:14 | I cry to the grave, Thou art my father! to the worm, My mother, and my sister! | If I have said to corruption, Thou art my father; To the worm, [Thou art] my mother, and my sister; | If I say to the earth, You are my father; and to the worm, My mother and my sister; | To corruption I have called: `Thou [art] my father.` `My mother` and `my sister` to the worm. |
| Job 17:15 | And where is then my hope? yea, my hope, who shall see it? | Where then is my hope? And as for my hope, who shall see it? | Where then is my hope? and who will see my desire? | And where [is] now my hope? Yea, my hope, who doth behold it? |
| Job 17:16 | It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, when [our] rest shall be together in the dust. | It shall go down to the bars of Sheol, When once there is rest in the dust. | Will they go down with me into the underworld? Will we go down together into the dust? | [To] the parts of Sheol ye go down, If together on the dust we may rest. |
