Proverbs 27:3A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's vexation is heavier than them both.A stone is heavy, and the sand weighty; But a fool's vexation is heavier than they both. A stone is heavy, And sand is a burden; But a fool's provocation is heavier than both.A stone is heavy, and sand weighty: but the anger of a fool is heavier than them both.
Proverbs 27:4Fury is cruel, and anger is outrageous; but who is able to stand before jealousy?Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; But who is able to stand before jealousy? Wrath is cruel, And anger is overwhelming; But who is able to stand before jealousy?Anger hath no mercy, nor fury when it breaketh forth: and who can bear the violence of one provoked?
Proverbs 27:5Open rebuke is better than hidden love.Better is open rebuke Than love that is hidden. Better is open rebuke Than hidden love.Open rebuke is better than hidden love.
Proverbs 27:6Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are profuse.Faithful are the wounds of a friend; But the kisses of an enemy are profuse. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; Although the kisses of an enemy are profuse.Better are the wounds of a friend, than the deceitful kisses of an enemy.
Proverbs 27:7The full soul trampleth on a honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. The full soul loatheth a honeycomb; But to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet. A full soul loathes a honeycomb; But to a hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet.A soul that is full shall tread upon the honeycomb : and a soul that is hungry shall take even bitter for sweet.
Proverbs 27:8As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that wandereth from his place. As a bird that wandereth from her nest, So is a man that wandereth from his place. As a bird that wanders from her nest, So is a man who wanders from his home.As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so is a man that leaveth his place.
Proverbs 27:9Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; and the sweetness of one's friend is [the fruit] of hearty counsel.Oil and perfume rejoice the heart; So doth the sweetness of a man's friend [that cometh] of hearty counsel. Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; So does earnest counsel from a man's friend.Ointment and perfumes rejoice the heart: and the good counsels of a friend are sweet to the soul.
Proverbs 27:10Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; and go not into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.Thine own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; And go not to thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: Better is a neighbor that is near than a brother far off. Don't forsake your friend and your father's friend. Don't go to your brother's house in the day of your disaster: Better is a neighbor who is near than a distant brother.Thy own friend, and thy father's friend forsake not: and go not into thy brother's house in the day of thy affliction. Better is a neighbour that is near, than a brother afar off.
Proverbs 27:11Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad, that I may have wherewith to answer him that reproacheth me.My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, That I may answer him that reproacheth me. Be wise, my son, And bring joy to my heart, Then I can answer my tormentor.Study wisdom, my son, and make my heart joyful, that thou mayst give an answer to him that reproacheth.
Proverbs 27:12A prudent [man] seeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; the simple pass on, [and] are punished.A prudent man seeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; [But] the simple pass on, [and] suffer for it. A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; But the simple pass on, and suffer for it:The prudent man seeing evil hideth himself: little ones passing on have suffered losses.
Proverbs 27:13Take his garment that is become surety [for] another, and hold him in pledge for a strange woman.Take his garment that is surety for a stranger; And hold him in pledge [that is surety] for a foreign woman. Take his garment when he puts up collateral for a stranger; Hold it for a wayward woman!Take away his garment that hath been surety for a stranger: and take from him a pledge for strangers.
Proverbs 27:14He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be reckoned a curse to him.He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, It shall be counted a curse to him. He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, It will be taken as a curse by him.He that blesseth his neighbour with a loud voice, rising in the night, shall be like to him that curseth.
Proverbs 27:15A continual dropping on a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike:A continual dropping in a very rainy day And a contentious woman are alike: A continual dropping on a rainy day And a contentious wife are alike:Roofs dropping through in a cold day, and a contentious woman are alike.
Proverbs 27:16whosoever will restrain her restraineth the wind, and his right hand encountereth oil.He that would restrain her restraineth the wind; And his right hand encountereth oil. Restraining her is like restraining the wind, Or like grasping oil in his right hand.He that retaineth her, is as he that would hold the wind, and shall call in the oil of his right hand.
Proverbs 27:17Iron is sharpened by iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.Iron sharpeneth iron; So a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend. Iron sharpens iron; So a man sharpens his friend's countenance.Iron sharpeneth iron, so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Proverbs 27:18Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; and he that guardeth his master shall be honoured.Whoso keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit thereof; And he that regardeth his master shall be honored. Whoever tends the fig tree shall eat its fruit. He who looks after his master shall be honored. He that keepeth the fig tree, shall eat the fruit thereof: and he that is the keeper of his master, shall be glorified.
Proverbs 27:19As [in] water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man.As in water face [answereth] to face, So the heart of man to man. As water reflects a face, So a man's heart reflects the man.As the faces of them that look therein, shine in the water, so-the hearts of men are laid open to the wise.
Proverbs 27:20Sheol and destruction are insatiable; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied; And the eyes of man are never satisfied. Proverbs 27:21The fining-pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; so let a man be to the mouth that praiseth him.The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold; And a man is [tried] by his praise. The crucible is for silver, And the furnace for gold; But man is refined by his praise. As silver is tried in the fining-pot and gold in the furnace: so a man is tried by the mouth of him that praiseth. The heart of the wicked seeketh after evils, but the righteous heart seeketh after knowledge.
Proverbs 27:22If thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, yet will not his folly depart from him.Though thou shouldest bray a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with bruised grain, Yet will not his foolishness depart from him. Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with grain, Yet his foolishness will not be removed from him.Though thou shouldst bray a fool in the mortar, as when a pestle striketh upon sodden barley, his folly would not be taken from him.
