Job 40:1And Jehovah answered Job and said,...And the Lord answering Job out of the whirlwind, said :Moreover, the LORD answered Job, and said,
Job 40:2Shall he that will contend with the Almighty instruct [him]? he that reproveth +God, let him answer it.Will he who is protesting give teaching to the Ruler of all? Let him who has arguments to put forward against God give an answer.Gird up thy loins like a man : I will ask thee, and do thou tell me.Shall he that contendeth with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproveth God, let him answer it.
Job 40:3And Job answered Jehovah and said,And Job said in answer to the Lord,Wilt thou make void my judgment : and condemn me, that thou mayst be justified? Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
Job 40:4Behold, I am nought: what shall I answer thee? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.Truly, I am of no value; what answer may I give to you? I will put my hand on my mouth. And hast thou an arm like God, and canst thou thunder with a voice like him?Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay my hand upon my mouth.
Job 40:5Once have I spoken, and I will not answer; yea twice, but I will proceed no further.I have said once, and even twice, what was in my mind, but I will not do so again.Clothe thyself with beauty, and set thyself up on high and be glorious, and put on goodly garments.Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yes, twice; but I will proceed no further.
Job 40:6And Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,Then the Lord made answer to Job out of the storm-wind, and said,Scatter the proud in thy indignation, and behold every arrogant man, and humble him. Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,
Job 40:7Gird up now thy loins like a man: I will demand of thee, and inform thou me.Get your strength together like a man of war: I will put questions to you, and you will give me the answers.Look on all that are proud, and confound them, and crush the wicked in their place.Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou to me.
Job 40:8Wilt thou also annul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me that thou mayest be righteous? Will you even make my right of no value? will you say that I am wrong in order to make clear that you are right?Hide them in the dust together, and plunge their faces into the pit.Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
Job 40:9Hast thou an arm like ùGod? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?Have you an arm like God? have you a voice of thunder like his? Then I will confess that thy right hand is able to save thee.Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like his?
Job 40:10Deck thyself now with glory and excellency, and clothe thyself with majesty and splendour.Put on the ornaments of your pride; be clothed with glory and power:Behold behemoth whom I made with thee, he eateth grass like an ox.Deck thyself now with majesty and excellence; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
Job 40:11Cast abroad the ragings of thine anger, and look on every one that is proud, and abase him:Let your wrath be overflowing; let your eyes see all the sons of pride, and make them low.His strength is in his loins, and his force in the navel of his belly.Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
Job 40:12Look on every one that is proud, bring him low, and tread down the wicked in their place:Send destruction on all who are lifted up, pulling down the sinners from their places. He setteth up his tail like a cedar, the sinews of his testicles are wrapped together.Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
Job 40:13Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in secret.Let them be covered together in the dust; let their faces be dark in the secret place of the underworld. His bones are like pipes of brass, his gristle like plates of iron.Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in secret.
Job 40:14Then will I also praise thee, because thy right hand saveth thee. Then I will give praise to you, saying that your right hand is able to give you salvation. He is the beginning of the ways of God, who made him, he will apply his sword. Then will I also confess to thee that thy own right hand can save thee.
Job 40:15See now the behemoth, which I made with thee: he eateth grass as an ox.See now the Great Beast, whom I made, even as I made you; he takes grass for food, like the ox.To him the mountains bring forth grass : there all the beasts of the field shall play.Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
Job 40:16Behold now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the muscles of his belly. His strength is in his body, and his force in the muscles of his stomach. He sleepeth under the shadow, in the covert of the reed, and in moist places.Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.
Job 40:17He bendeth his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are woven together. His tail is curving like a cedar; the muscles of his legs are joined together. The shades cover his shadow, the willows of the brook shall compass him about. He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his male organs are wrapped together.
Job 40:18His bones are tubes of bronze, his members are like bars of iron. His bones are pipes of brass, his legs are like rods of iron.Behold, he will drink up a river, and not wonder : and he trusteth that the Jordan may run into his mouth. His bones are as strong pieces of brass; his bones are like bars of iron.
Job 40:19He is the chief of ùGod's ways: he that made him gave him his sword. He is the chief of the ways of God, made by him for his pleasure. In his eyes as with a hook he shall take him, and bore through his nostrils with stakes. He is the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach him.
Job 40:20For the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.He takes the produce of the mountains, where all the beasts of the field are at play.Canst thou draw out the leviathan with a hook, or canst thou tie his tongue with a cord?Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
Job 40:21He lieth under lotus-bushes, in the covert of the reed and fen:He takes his rest under the trees of the river, and in the pool, under the shade of the water-plants.Canst thou put a ring in his nose, or bore through his jaw with a buckle? He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
Job 40:22Lotus-bushes cover him with their shade; the willows of the brook surround him.He is covered by the branches of the trees; the grasses of the stream are round him. Will he make many supplications to thee, or speak soft words to thee? The shady trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook encompass him.
Job 40:23Lo, the river overfloweth he startleth not: he is confident though a Jordan break forth against his mouth.Truly, if the river is overflowing, it gives him no cause for fear; he has no sense of danger, even if Jordan is rushing against his mouth. Will he make a covenant with thee, and wilt thou take him to be a servant for ever?Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
Job 40:24Shall he be taken in front? will they pierce through [his] nose in the trap? Will anyone take him when he is on the watch, or put metal teeth through his nose?Shalt thou play with him as with a bird, or tie him up for thy handmaids? He taketh it with his eyes: his nose pierceth through snares.
