Psalms 34:1{[A Psalm] of David; when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed.} I will bless Jehovah at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth.<Of David. When he made a change in his behaviour before Abimelech, who sent him away, and he went.> I will be blessing the Lord at all times; his praise will be ever in my mouth. For David himself. Judge thou, O Lord, them that wrong me : overthrow them that fight against me.
Psalms 34:2My soul shall make its boast in Jehovah: the meek shall hear, and rejoice. My soul will say great things of the Lord: the poor in spirit will have knowledge of it and be glad.Take hold of arms and shield : and rise up to help me.
Psalms 34:3Magnify Jehovah with me, and let us exalt his name together.O give praise to the Lord with me; let us be witnesses together of his great name.Bring out the sword, and shut up the way against them that persecute me : say to my soul : I am thy salvation.
Psalms 34:4I sought Jehovah, and he answered me, and delivered me from all my fears.I was searching for the Lord, and he gave ear to my voice, and made me free from all my fears.Let them be confounded and ashamed that seek after my soul. Let them be turned back and be confounded that devise against me.
Psalms 34:5They looked unto him, and were enlightened, and their faces were not confounded.Let your eyes be turned to him and you will have light, and your faces will not be shamed.Let them become as dust before the wind : and let the angel of the Lord straiten them.
Psalms 34:6This afflicted one called, and Jehovah heard [him], and saved him out of all his troubles. This poor man's cry came before the Lord, and he gave him salvation from all his troubles.Let their way become dark and slippery; and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.
Psalms 34:7The angel of Jehovah encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. The angel of the Lord is ever watching over those who have fear of him, to keep them safe. For without cause they have hidden their net for me unto destruction : without cause they have upbraided my soul.
Psalms 34:8Taste and see that Jehovah is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him!By experience you will see that the Lord is good; happy is the man who has faith in him.Let the snare which he knoweth not come upon him : and let the net which he hath hidden catch him : and let the net which he hath hidden catch him : and into that very snare let them fall.
Psalms 34:9Fear Jehovah, ye his saints; for there is no want to them that fear him.Keep yourselves in the fear of the Lord, all you his saints; for those who do so will have no need of anything. But my soul shall rejoice in the Lord; and shall be delighted in his salvation.
Psalms 34:10The young lions are in need and suffer hunger; but they that seek Jehovah shall not want any good. The young lions are in need and have no food; but those who are looking to the Lord will have every good thing. All my bones shall say : Lord, who is like to thee? Who deliverest the poor from the hand of them that are stronger than he; the needy and the poor from them that strip him.
Psalms 34:11Come, ye sons, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.Come, children, give attention to me; I will be your teacher in the fear of the Lord.Unjust witnesses rising up have asked me things I knew not.
Psalms 34:12What man is he that desireth life, [and] loveth days, that he may see good? What man has a love of life, and a desire that his days may be increased so that he may see good? They repaid me evil for good : to the depriving me of my soul.
Psalms 34:13Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile;Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from words of deceit. But as for me, when they were troublesome to me, I was clothed with haircloth. I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom.
Psalms 34:14Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.Be turned from evil, and do good; make a search for peace, desiring it with all your heart. As a neighbour and as an own brother, so did I please : as one mourning and sorrowful so was I humbled.
Psalms 34:15The eyes of Jehovah are upon the righteous, and his ears are toward their cry;The eyes of the Lord are on the upright, and his ears are open to their cry.But they rejoiced against me, and came together : scourges were gathered together upon me, and I knew not.
Psalms 34:16The face of Jehovah is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth:The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to take away the memory of them from the earth. They were separated, and repented not : they tempted me, they scoffed at me with scorn : they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
Psalms 34:17[The righteous] cry, and Jehovah heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles. The cry of the upright comes before the Lord, and he takes them out of all their troubles.Lord, when wilt thou look upon me? rescue thou soul from their malice : my only one from the lions.
Psalms 34:18Jehovah is nigh to those that are of a broken heart, and saveth them that are of a contrite spirit. The Lord is near the broken-hearted; he is the saviour of those whose spirits are crushed down.I will give thanks to thee in a great church; I will praise thee in a strong people.
Psalms 34:19Many are the adversities of the righteous, but Jehovah delivereth him out of them all:Great are the troubles of the upright: but the Lord takes him safely out of them all.Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me : who have hated me without cause, and wink with the eyes.
Psalms 34:20He keepeth all his bones; not one of them is broken. He keeps all his bones: not one of them is broken. For they spoke indeed peaceably to me; and speaking in the anger of the earth they devised guile.
Psalms 34:21Evil shall destroy the wicked; and they that hate the righteous shall bear their guilt.Evil will put an end to the sinner, and those who are haters of righteousness will come to destruction. And they opened their mouth wide against me; they said : Well done, well done, our eyes have seen it.
Psalms 34:22Jehovah redeemeth the soul of his servants; and none of them that trust in him shall bear guilt. The Lord will be the saviour of the souls of his servants, and no one who has faith in him will be put to shame.Thou hast seen, O Lord, be not thou silent : O Lord, depart not from me.
