Psalms 42:1{To the chief Musician. An instruction; of the sons of Korah.} As the hart panteth after the water-brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.<To the chief music-maker. Maschil. Of the sons of Korah.> Like the desire of the roe for the water-streams, so is my soul's desire for you, O God.A psalm for David. Judge me, O God, and distinguish my cause from the nation that is not holy : deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man.To the Overseer. An Instruction. By sons of Korah. As a hart doth pant for streams of water, So my soul panteth toward Thee, O God.
Psalms 42:2My soul thirsteth for God, for the living ùGod: when shall I come and appear before God?My soul is dry for need of God, the living God; when may I come and see the face of God?For thou art God my strength : why hast thou cast me off? and why do I go sorrowful whilst the enemy afflicteth me?My soul thirsted for God, for the living God, When do I enter and see the face of God?
Psalms 42:3My tears have been my bread day and night, while they say unto me all the day, Where is thy God?My tears have been my food day and night, while they keep saying to me, Where is your God?Send forth thy light and thy truth : they have conducted me, and brought me unto thy holy hill, and into thy tabernacles. My tear hath been to me bread day and night, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?`
Psalms 42:4These things I remember and have poured out my soul within me: how I passed along with the multitude, how I went on with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, a festive multitude.Let my soul be overflowing with grief when these things come back to my mind, how I went in company to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with the song of those who were keeping the feast. And I will go in to the altar of God : to God who giveth joy to my youth. These I remember, and pour out my soul in me, For I pass over into the booth, I go softly with them unto the house of God, With the voice of singing and confession, The multitude keeping feast!
Psalms 42:5Why art thou cast down, my soul, and art disquieted in me? hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, [for] the health of his countenance. Why are you crushed down, O my soul? and why are you troubled in me? put your hope in God; for I will again give him praise who is my help and my God.To thee, O God my God, I will give praise upon the harp : why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me?What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? Yea, art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him: The salvation of my countenance My God!
Psalms 42:6My God, my soul is cast down within me; therefore do I remember thee from the land of the Jordan, and the Hermons, from mount Mizar. My soul is crushed down in me, so I will keep you in mind; from the land of Jordan and of the Hermons, from the hill Mizar.Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him : the salvation of my countenance, and my God.In me doth my soul bow itself, Therefore I remember Thee from the land of Jordan, And of the Hermons, from the hill Mizar.
Psalms 42:7Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy cataracts; all thy breakers and thy billows are gone over me.Deep is sounding to deep at the noise of your waterfalls; all your waves have gone rolling over me.Deep unto deep is calling At the noise of Thy water-spouts, All Thy breakers and Thy billows passed over me.
Psalms 42:8In the day-time will Jehovah command his loving-kindness, and in the night his song shall be with me, a prayer unto the ùGod of my life. But the Lord will send his mercy in the daytime, and in the night his song will be with me, a prayer to the God of my life.By day Jehovah commandeth His kindness, And by night a song [is] with me, A prayer to the God of my life.
Psalms 42:9I will say unto ùGod my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?I will say to God my Rock, Why have you let me go from your memory? why do I go in sorrow because of the attacks of my haters?I say to God my rock, `Why hast Thou forgotten me? Why go I mourning in the oppression of an enemy?
Psalms 42:10As with a crushing in my bones mine adversaries reproach me, while they say unto me all the day, Where is thy God?The cruel words of my haters are like a crushing of my bones; when they say to me every day, Where is your God?With a sword in my bones Have mine adversaries reproached me, In their saying unto me all the day, `Where [is] thy God?`
Psalms 42:11Why art thou cast down, my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God; for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my countenance, and my God.Why are you crushed down, O my soul? and why are you troubled in me? put your hope in God; for I will again give him praise who is my help and my God.What! bowest thou thyself, O my soul? And what! art thou troubled within me? Wait for God, for still I confess Him, The salvation of my countenance, and my God!
