Proverbs 29:1He that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and without remedy.A man hating sharp words and making his heart hard, will suddenly be broken and will not be made well again. He who is often rebuked and stiffens his neck Will be destroyed suddenly, with no remedy. The man that with a stiff neck despiseth him that reproveth him, shall suddenly be destroyed: and health shall not follow him.
Proverbs 29:2When the righteous increase, the people rejoice; but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. When the upright have power, the people are glad; when an evil man is ruler, grief comes on the people. When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; But when the wicked rule, the people groan. When just men increase, the people shall rejoice: when the wicked shall bear rule, the people shall mourn.
Proverbs 29:3Whoso loveth wisdom rejoiceth his father; but he that is a companion of harlots destroyeth [his] substance.A man who is a lover of wisdom is a joy to his father: but he who goes in the company of loose women is a waster of wealth.Whoever loves wisdom brings joy to his father; But a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.A man that loveth wisdom, rejoiceth his father: but he that maintaineth bar lots, shall squander away his substance.
Proverbs 29:4A king by just judgment establisheth the land; but he that taketh gifts overthroweth it.A king, by right rule, makes the land safe; but one full of desires makes it a waste. The king by justice makes the land stable, But he who takes bribes tears it down.A just king setteth up the land: a covetous man shall destroy it.
Proverbs 29:5A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his steps.A man who says smooth things to his neighbour is stretching out a net for his steps.A man who flatters his neighbor, Spreads a net for his feet.A man that speaketh to his friend with flattering and dissembling words, spreadeth a net for his feet.
Proverbs 29:6In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare; but the righteous shall sing and rejoice. In the steps of an evil man there is a net for him, but the upright man gets away quickly and is glad.An evil man is snared by his sin, But the righteous can sing and be glad.A snare shall entangle the wicked man when he sinneth: and the just shall praise and rejoice.
Proverbs 29:7The righteous taketh knowledge of the cause of the poor; the wicked understandeth not knowledge. The upright man gives attention to the cause of the poor: the evil-doer gives no thought to it.The righteous care about justice for the poor. The wicked aren't concerned about knowledge. The just taketh notice of the cause of the poor: the wicked is void of knowledge.
Proverbs 29:8Scornful men set the city in a flame; but the wise turn away anger.Men of pride are the cause of violent acts in a town, but by wise men wrath is turned away.Mockers stir up a city, But wise men turn away anger.Corrupt men bring a city to ruin: but wise men turn away wrath.
Proverbs 29:9If a wise man contendeth with a fool, whether he rage or laugh, [he] hath no rest.If a wise man goes to law with a foolish man, he may be angry or laughing, but there will be no rest.If a wise man goes to court with a foolish man, The fool rages or scoffs, and there is no peace. If a wise man contend with a fool, whether he be angry or laugh, he shall find no rest.
Proverbs 29:10The bloodthirsty hate the perfect, but the upright care for his soul.Men of blood are haters of the good man, and evil-doers go after his soul. The bloodthirsty hate a man of integrity; And they seek the life of the upright.Bloodthirsty men hate the upright: but just men seek his soul.
Proverbs 29:11A fool uttereth all his mind; but a wise [man] keepeth it back.A foolish man lets out all his wrath, but a wise man keeps it back quietly.A fool vents all of his anger, But a wise man brings himself under control.A fool uttereth all his mind: a wise man deferreth, and keepeth it till afterwards.
Proverbs 29:12If a ruler hearken to lying words, all his servants are wicked. If a ruler gives attention to false words, all his servants are evil-doers.If a ruler listens to lies, All of his officials are wicked.A prince that gladly heareth lying words, hath all his servants wicked.
Proverbs 29:13The indigent and the oppressor meet together; Jehovah lighteneth the eyes of them both. The poor man and his creditor come face to face: the Lord gives light to their eyes equally. The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: Yahweh gives sight to the eyes of both. The poor man and the creditor have met one another: the Lord is the enlightener of them both.
Proverbs 29:14A king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever. The king who is a true judge in the cause of the poor, will be safe for ever on the seat of his power. The king who fairly judges the poor, His throne shall be established forever. The king that judgeth the poor in truth, his throne shall be established for ever.
Proverbs 29:15The rod and reproof give wisdom; but a child left [to himself] bringeth his mother to shame. The rod and sharp words give wisdom: but a child who is not guided is a cause of shame to his mother. The rod of correction gives wisdom, But a child left to himself causes shame to his mother. The rod and reproof give wisdom: but the child that is left to his own will bringeth his mother to shame.
Proverbs 29:16When the wicked increase, transgression increaseth; but the righteous shall see their fall. When evil men are in power, wrongdoing is increased; but the upright will have pleasure when they see their downfall. When the wicked increase, sin increases; But the righteous will see their downfall. When the wicked are multiplied, crimes shall be multiplied: but the just shall see their downfall.
Proverbs 29:17Chasten thy son, and he shall give thee rest, and shall give delight unto thy soul.Give your son training, and he will give you rest; he will give delight to your soul.Correct your son, and he will give you peace; Yes, he will bring delight to your soul.Instruct thy son, and he shall refresh thee, and shall give delight to thy soul.
Proverbs 29:18Where there is no vision the people cast off restraint; but happy is he that keepeth the law.Where there is no vision, the people are uncontrolled; but he who keeps the law will be happy.Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But one who keeps the law is blessed. When prophecy shall fail, the people shall be scattered abroad: but he that keepeth the law is blessed.
Proverbs 29:19A servant is not corrected by words: he understandeth indeed, but he will not answer.A servant will not be trained by words; for though the sense of the words is clear to him, he will not give attention.A servant can't be corrected by words. Though he understands, yet he will not respond.A slave will not be corrected by words: because he understandeth what thou sayest, and will not answer.
Proverbs 29:20Hast thou seen a man hasty in his words? there is more hope of a fool than of him.Have you seen a man who is quick with his tongue? There is more hope for a foolish man than for him.Do you see a man who is hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.Hast thou seen a man hasty to speak? folly is rather to be looked for, than his amendment.
Proverbs 29:21He that delicately bringeth up his servant from a child, shall in the end have him as a son.If a servant is gently cared for from his early years, he will become a cause of sorrow in the end.He who pampers his servant from youth Will have him become a son in the end.He that nourisheth his servant delicately from his childhood, afterwards shall find him stubborn.
Proverbs 29:22An angry man exciteth contention; and a furious man aboundeth in transgression. An angry man is the cause of fighting, and a man given to wrath does much wrong. An angry man stirs up strife, And a wrathful man abounds in sin.A passionate man provoketh quarrels: and he that is easily stirred up to wrath, shall be more prone to sin.
Proverbs 29:23A man's pride bringeth him low; but the humble in spirit shall obtain honour.A man's pride will be the cause of his fall, but he who has a gentle spirit will get honour.A man's pride brings him low, But one who is of a lowly spirit gains honor.Humiliation followeth the proud: and glory shall uphold the humble of spirit.
Proverbs 29:24Whoso shareth with a thief hateth his own soul: he heareth the adjuration, and declareth not.A man who takes part with a thief has hate for his soul; he is put under oath, but says nothing.Whoever is an accomplice of a thief is an enemy of his own soul. He takes an oath, but dares not testify. He that is partaker with a thief, hateth his own soul: he heareth one putting him to his oath, and discovereth not.
Proverbs 29:25The fear of man bringeth a snare; but whoso putteth his confidence in Jehovah is protected. The fear of man is a cause of danger: but whoever puts his faith in the Lord will have a safe place on high. The fear of man proves to be a snare, But whoever puts his trust in Yahweh is kept safe.He that feareth man, shall quickly fall: he that trusteth in the Lord, shall be set on high.
Proverbs 29:26Many seek the ruler's face; but a man's right judgment is from Jehovah. The approval of a ruler is desired by great numbers: but the decision in a man's cause comes from the Lord. Many seek the ruler's favor, But a man's justice comes from Yahweh. Many seek the face of the prince: but the judgment of every one cometh forth from the Lord.
Proverbs 29:27An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous; and he that is of upright way is an abomination to the wicked [man].An evil man is disgusting to the upright, and he who is upright is disgusting to evil-doers.A dishonest man detests the righteous, And the upright in their ways detest the wicked. The just abhor the wicked man: and the wicked loathe them that are in the right way. The son that keepeth the word, shall be free from destruction.
