| Psalms 60:1 | {To the chief Musician. On Shushan. Testimony. Michtam of David; to teach: when he strove with the Syrians of Mesopotamia, and the Syrians of Zobah, and Joab returned, and smote the Edomites in the valley of salt, twelve thousand.} O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased: restore us again. | <To the chief music-maker; put to Shushan-eduth. Michtam. Of David. For teaching. When he was fighting against Aram-naharaim and Aramzobah, when Joab came back, and put twelve thousand of the Edomites to death, in the Valley of Salt.> God, you have put us away from you, you have sent us in all directions, you have been angry; O be turned to us again. | God, you have rejected us. You have broken us down. You have been angry. Restore us to you, again. | Unto the end, in hymns, for David. |
| Psalms 60:2 | Thou hast made the earth to tremble, thou hast rent it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh. | By the power of your hand the earth is shaking and broken; make it strong again, for it is moved. | You have made the land tremble. You have torn it. Mend its fractures, For it quakes. | Hear, O God, my supplication: be attentive to my prayer, |
| Psalms 60:3 | Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us to drink the wine of bewilderment. | You have made the people see hard times; you have given us the wine of shaking for our drink. | You have shown your people hard things. You have made us drink the wine that makes us stagger. | To thee have I cried from the ends of the earth: when my heart was in anguish, thou hast exalted me on a rock. Thou hast conducted me; |
| Psalms 60:4 | Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth, (Selah,) | Give a safe place to those who have fear of you, where they may go in flight from before the bow. (Selah.) | You have given a banner to those who fear you, That it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. | for thou hast been my hope; a tower of strength against the face of the enemy. |
| Psalms 60:5 | That thy beloved ones may be delivered. Save with thy right hand, and answer me. | So that your loved ones may be made safe, let your right hand be my salvation, and give me an answer. | So that your beloved may be delivered, Save with your right hand, and answer us. | In thy tabernacle I shall dwell for ever: I shall be protected under the covert of thy wings. |
| Psalms 60:6 | God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. | God has said in his holy place, I will be glad: I will make a division of Shechem, and the valley of Succoth will be measured out. | God has spoken from his sanctuary: "I will triumph. I will divide Shechem, And measure out the valley of Succoth. | For thou, my God, hast heard my prayer: thou hast given an inheritance to them that fear thy name. |
| Psalms 60:7 | Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver; | Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver; | Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is the defense of my head. Judah is my scepter. | Thou wilt add days to the days of the king: his years even to generation and generation. |
| Psalms 60:8 | Moab is my wash-pot; upon Edom will I cast my sandal; Philistia, shout aloud because of me. | Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I put out my shoe; over Philistia will a glad cry be sounded. | Moab is my wash basin. I will throw my shoe on Edom. I shout in triumph over Philistia." | He abideth for ever in the sight of God: his mercy and truth who shall search ? |
| Psalms 60:9 | Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me unto Edom? | Who will take me into the strong town? who will be my guide into Edom? | Who will bring me into the strong city? Who has led me to Edom? | So will I sing a psalm to thy name for ever and ever: that I may pay my vows from day to day. |
| Psalms 60:10 | [Wilt] not thou, O God, who didst cast us off? and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies? | Have not you put us away, O God? and you have not gone out with our armies. | Haven't you, God, rejected us? You don't go out, with our armies, God. | |
| Psalms 60:11 | Give us help from trouble; for vain is man's deliverance. | Give us help in our trouble; for there is no help in man. | Give us help against the adversary, For the help of man is vain. | |
| Psalms 60:12 | Through God we shall do valiantly; and he it is that will tread down our adversaries. | Through God we will do great things, for through him our haters will be crushed under our feet. | Through God we shall do valiantly, For it is he who will tread down our adversaries. Psalm 61 For the Chief Musician. For a stringed instrument. By David. | |
