| Psalms 62:1 | {To the chief Musician. On Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.} Upon God alone doth my soul rest peacefully; from him is my salvation. | <To the chief music-maker. After Jeduthun. A Psalm. Of David.> My soul, put all your faith in God; for from him comes my salvation. | My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him. | A psalm of David when he was in the desert of Edom. |
| Psalms 62:2 | He only is my rock and my salvation; my high fortress: I shall not be greatly moved. | He only is my Rock and my salvation; he is my high tower; I will not be greatly moved. | He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress I will never be greatly shaken. | O God, my God, to thee do I watch at break of day. For thee my soul hath thirsted; for thee my flesh, O how many ways! |
| Psalms 62:3 | How long will ye assail a man; will ye [seek], all of you, to break him down as a bowing wall or a tottering fence? | How long will you go on designing evil against a man? running against him as against a broken wall, which is on the point of falling? | How long will you assault a man, Would all of you throw him down, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence? | In a desert land, and where there is no way, and no water: so in the sanctuary have I come before thee, to see thy power and thy glory. |
| Psalms 62:4 | They only consult to thrust [him] down from his excellency; they delight in lies; they bless with their mouth, but in their inward part they curse. Selah. | Their only thought is to put him down from his place of honour; their delight is in deceit: blessing is in their mouths but cursing in their hearts. | Psalms 62:9 | Men of low degree are only vanity; men of high degree, a lie: laid in the balance, they go up together [lighter] than vanity. | Truly men of low birth are nothing, and men of high position are not what they seem; if they are put in the scales together they are less than a breath. | Surely men of low degree are just a breath, And men of high degree are a lie. In the balances they will go up. They are together lighter than a breath. | my soul hath stuck close to thee: thy right hand hath received me. |
| Psalms 62:10 | Put not confidence in oppression, and become not vain in robbery; if wealth increase, set not your heart upon it. | Have no faith in the rewards of evil-doing, or in profits wrongly made: if your wealth is increased, do not put your hopes on it. | Don't trust in oppression. Don't become vain in robbery. If riches increase, Don't set your heart on them. | But they have sought my soul in vain, they shall go into the lower parts of the earth: |
| Psalms 62:11 | Once hath God spoken, twice have I heard this, that strength [belongeth] unto God. | Once has God said, twice has it come to my ears, that power is God's: | God has spoken once, Twice have I heard this, That power belongs to God. | They shall be delivered into the hands of the sword, they shall be the portions of foxes. |
