| 2nd-Timothy 4:1 | I testify before God and Christ Jesus, who is about to judge living and dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom, | I give you orders, before God and Christ Jesus, who will be the judge of the living and the dead, and by his revelation and his kingdom; |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:2 | proclaim the word; be urgent in season [and] out of season, convict, rebuke, encourage, with all longsuffering and doctrine. | Be preaching the word at all times, in every place; make protests, say sharp words, give comfort, with long waiting and teaching; |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:3 | For the time shall be when they will not bear sound teaching; but according to their own lusts will heap up to themselves teachers, having an itching ear; | For the time will come when they will not take the true teaching; but, moved by their desires, they will get for themselves a great number of teachers for the pleasure of hearing them; |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:4 | and they will turn away their ear from the truth, and will have turned aside to fables. | And shutting their ears to what is true, will be turned away to belief in foolish stories. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:5 | But *thou*, be sober in all things, bear evils, do [the] work of an evangelist, fill up the full measure of thy ministry. | But be self-controlled in all things, do without comfort, go on preaching the good news, completing the work which has been given you to do. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:6 | For *I* am already being poured out, and the time of my release is come. | For I am even now being offered, and my end is near. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:7 | I have combated the good combat, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. | I have made a good fight, I have come to the end of my journey, I have kept the faith: |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:8 | Henceforth the crown of righteousness is laid up for me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will render to me in that day; but not only to me, but also to all who love his appearing. | From now on, the crown of righteousness is made ready for me, which the Lord, the upright judge, Will give to me at that day: and not only to me, but to all those who have had love for his revelation. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:9 | Use diligence to come to me quickly; | Do your best to come to me before long: |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:10 | for Demas has forsaken me, having loved the present age, and is gone to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. | For Demas has gone away from me, for love of this present life, and has gone to Thessalonica: Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:11 | Luke alone is with me. Take Mark, and bring [him] with thyself, for he is serviceable to me for ministry. | Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and take him with you; for he is of use to me in the work. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:12 | But Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus. | Tychicus I sent to Ephesus. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:13 | The cloak which I left behind [me] in Troas at Carpus's, bring when thou comest, and the books, especially the parchments. | The coat which I did not take from Troas and which is with Carpus, get when you come, and the books, specially the papers. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:14 | Alexander the smith did many evil things against me. The Lord will render to him according to his works. | Alexander the copper-worker did me much wrong: the Lord will give him the reward of his works: |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:15 | Against whom be *thou* also on thy guard, for he has greatly withstood our words. | But be on the watch for him, for he was violent in his attacks on our teaching. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:16 | At my first defence no man stood with me, but all deserted me. May it not be imputed to them. | At my first meeting with my judges, no one took my part, but all went away from me. May it not be put to their account. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:17 | But the Lord stood with [me], and gave me power, that through me the proclamation might be fully made, and all [those of] the nations should hear; and I was delivered out of the lion's mouth. | But the Lord was by my side and gave me strength; so that through me the news might be given out in full measure, and all the Gentiles might give ear: and I was taken out of the mouth of the lion. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:18 | The Lord shall deliver me from every wicked work, and shall preserve [me] for his heavenly kingdom; to whom [be] glory for the ages of ages. Amen. | The Lord will keep me safe from every evil work and will give me salvation in his kingdom in heaven: to whom be glory for ever and ever. So be it. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:19 | Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the house of Onesiphorus. | Give my love to Prisca and Aquila and those of the house of Onesiphorus. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:20 | Erastus remained in Corinth, but Trophimus I left behind in Miletus sick. | Erastus was stopping at Corinth; but Trophimus, when I last saw him was at Miletus, ill. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:21 | Use diligence to come before winter. Eubulus salutes thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and the brethren all. | Do your best to come before the winter. Eubulus sends you his love, and Pudens and Linus and Claudia, and all the brothers. |
| 2nd-Timothy 4:22 | The Lord Jesus Christ [be] with your spirit. Grace [be] with you. | The Lord be with your spirit. Grace be with you. |
