| Psalms 14:1 | {To the chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David.} The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They have corrupted themselves, they have done abominable works: there is none that doeth good. | <To the chief music-maker. Of David.> The foolish man has said in his heart, God will not do anything. They are unclean, they have done evil works; there is not one who does good. |
| Psalms 14:2 | Jehovah looked down from the heavens upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God. | The Lord was looking down from heaven on the children of men, to see if there were any who had wisdom, searching after God. |
| Psalms 14:3 | They have all gone aside, they are together become corrupt: there is none that doeth good, not even one. | They have all gone out of the way together; they are unclean, there is not one who does good, no, not one. |
| Psalms 14:4 | Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge, eating up my people [as] they eat bread? They call not upon Jehovah. | Have all the workers of evil no knowledge? they take my people for food as they would take bread; they make no prayer to the Lord. |
| Psalms 14:5 | There were they in great fear; for God is in the generation of the righteous. | Then were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the upright. |
| Psalms 14:6 | Ye have shamed the counsel of the afflicted, because Jehovah [was] his refuge. | You have put to shame the thoughts of the poor, but the Lord is his support. |
| Psalms 14:7 | Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When Jehovah turneth again the captivity of his people, Jacob shall be glad, Israel shall rejoice. | May the salvation of Israel come out of Zion! when the fate of his people is changed by the Lord, Jacob will have joy and Israel will be glad. |
