| Psalms 87:1 | {Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm. A Song.} His foundation is in the mountains of holiness. | A canticle of a psalm for the sons of Core: unto the end, for Maheleth, to answer understanding of Eman the Ezrahite. | <Of the sons of Korah. A Psalm. A Song.> This house is resting on the holy mountain. | By sons of Korah. A Psalm, a song. His foundation [is] in holy mountains. |
| Psalms 87:2 | Jehovah loveth the gates of Zion more than all the habitations of Jacob. | O Lord, the God of my salvation: I have cried in the day, and in the night before thee. | The Lord has more love for the doors of Zion than for all the tents of Jacob. | Jehovah is loving the gates of Zion Above all the tabernacles of Jacob. |
| Psalms 87:3 | Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah. | Let my prayer come in before thee: incline thy ear to my petition. | Noble things are said of you, O town of God. (Selah.) | Honourable things are spoken in Thee, O city of God. Selah. |
| Psalms 87:4 | I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon among them that know me; behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia: this [man] was born there. | For my soul is filled with evils: and my life hath drawn nigh to hell. | Rahab and Babylon will be named among those who have knowledge of me; see, Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man had his birth there. | I mention Rahab and Babel to those knowing Me, Lo, Philistia, and Tyre, with Cush! This [one] was born there. |

Like the slain sleeping in the sepulchres, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cast off from thy hand. | The Lord will keep in mind, when he is writing the records of the people, that this man had his birth there.
